Nice.
Is there an easy way to replace the awful looking tempcubes with another available model? Like just renaming some files?
Yes, if you are comfortable with Python scripts. You can change the image the ship entity file calls from but that is technically making a sub mod. Always make a backup copy before tweaking changes so you can revert to a known good.
It can be done, but it requires diving deep into modding and rewriting a decent chunk of the mod code. It's essentially a different mod at that point. Also, the Vanilla Sins ships, don't stand a chance against the mod ships as a general rule.

To reiterate the effort mentioned in Discord, I have cost adjusted all the frigate, capital ship, some planet module, titan and star base files (216 files) if I recall correctly. They are currently out for rebalance to ensure a Zerg rush wasn't accidently introduced.
How many of the new models made it into that build?
Nice!
I don't expect any porting possibility between sin1 and sins2. That would limit sins 2 too much.
I agree, but people will mod Sins2...I fully expect it to begin even in Beta. Not sure how feature complete the game will be at launch or if each race/faction is adding additional core code/features or merely represent a new spreadsheet of variables and some art for the existing engine.
Since each missile, strike craft, etc will be individually targeted and tracked...makes me wonder if they still will use squadrons or if each model will behave independently. Just pondering out loud the potential nuance and complexity this could add to the tech trees.
In my case it isn't a hate, its choosing an eco system. I used to have an Impulse account when they were growing rapidly before being sold to Game Stop, who then didn't do anything with their purchase. I use Android, not Apple. I have friends who use Apple but not Android. I don't have unlimited funds and must choose where to sink them. Long ago, Steam was my choice, I don't use EA or any of the other publisher sites not out of hate but as a rational economic choice. I wish Epic well but I'm
Time will tell. I don't think Epic will be exclusive, though perhaps first for a time. Sort of like how streaming works. The future is murky.
We were debating running them as NPC races with their own non-player tech scripts but didn't decide. If either race is left to run "normally", that race wins. The races aren't balanced. The Narn are the most challenging to play.
What app / place did you send the PM? I have Discord because my son uses it but I'm only in there when he has something he wants to show me.
I'll second what TobiWahn said. My day job is nearing an inflection point and sucking up more and more of my bandwidth. I'm happy to lurk and provide the occasional comment and fully intend to make some improvements in the existing code but it will take longer and will be more sporadic than I'd anticipated a month or two ago. Good luck. Darvroth
Nice model.
Awesome TobiWahn. I've been tinkering with the research trees and ship files to quicken the pace of game play a bit and address several minor balance issues. To whom and by what method do I provide the files when I finish sections...probably do things by race as there is so much interrelation between the file types.
The pirate and minor factions recycle a lot of existing scripts (devs were lazy) and they were a devil to chase down since they aren't in the "player" code but are reserved for NPC code. It's my best guess of an avenue to hunt down the bug.
If the error is repeatable, that means there is a string of Vanilla code calling for a TITAN_MADVASARI script in a file name we've usurped for the mod. It's unlikely to be a ship ability unless the dev team recycled an ability. Where minor factions on?
The original had 22 episode seasons, new standard is 12ish, but since he's writing an arc it could be a custom number. So many unknowns.
First JWS needs to write, shoot and release the pilot, then we'll see if the network agrees to funding and for how long. At least long form story telling isn't new and novel anymore.
I am happy to help just its your game I need direction.
Vex, even if you were to script, record, edit and forward male voices for the events that would be a big step in the right direction. If in your scripting work it was found one or more female voices were needed, I'm sure with time we could find one or more volunteers to delivery the lines for use in the mod. At this point any non-vanilla lines would be a boon
mouack, unfortunately the mod is still in alpha and hasn't received the attention it needs to keep pace with developer updates, plus the mod is still calling on vanilla scripts and some placeholders. There are several known AI bugs (most with workarounds) but the scripts are huge and sometimes fixing one thing breaks something else... If you can dig into the crash file and figure out what caused the crash it would help us chase down the cause. There is also a developer emulation mode, if you
