From Grand Master [MAGOG]Kruelgor (reply #100) :
I'm actually salivating that the Illuminator is getting an increase in weapon and shield strength. I've been winning a lot of games lately with Illuminator spamming and this is going to help even more.
I recall that you recently stated, on another thread, that those wins were against newbies ... my point being that I wonder if you would have any success with your illuminating spamming against compet

I did say « Its A.I. is mediocre », and you did quote me on that point. You want to argue that the visual quality of AoW:SM & Dominions 3 is better than HM&M 5 graphics ?! You have to be joking.
I totally skip building disciples all together. Go straight to the illuminators. [...] I've only tested Illuminator spamming against newbies so far, not against veterans, but so far it has worked very well.
:SURPRISED: ;p
Thanxxx a lot, kryo : at 5 PM (Eastern), I can confirm that the issue has been fixed.
Small excerpt from the very mature & noble OP (no sarcasm intended) :
(though [it is] likely naive) [to think] that the forums can get more civil and cleaned up without the need for heavy moderation.

[...Stardock will eventually finish to develop a] so called not-MoM fantasy TBS game.
I'm a huge fan of Fantasy TBS Strategy games (such as the Heroes of Might & Magic, Age of Wonders, and Disciples series). I hope that Stardock will not be « out of its depth » with that new type of game it is designing. Even with all its flaws, Heroes of Might & Magic 5 (version 3.0) is currently the very best in the genre. Its A.I. is medi
Frogboy worked to improve the AI a bit for 1.03
:SURPRISED: Well, then ... it must have been a tiny bit. :NOTSURE: ( I'm really just a SP sophomore noobette, and I beat « hard » comps with my non-competitive SimCityInSpace approach ... as long as it's not a A.I.>1 v 1 )
OK ... thanxx ... I see, and I will « accept » upon reload.
Thanxxx a lot, Annatar, for telling me that it is a bug and for indicating how to go around it. But I don't understand what you mean by the very end of your post :
just doesn't apply them unless you re-accept.
Yesterday, le dimanche de Pâques, I was playing TEC against 3 non-allied "hard" comps. A hard/aggressive A.I.'s Vasari homeworld was only 2 jumps away from mine. Early on, I took the asteroid located (to the "west"), between his homeworld and mine, and positioned a Kol battleship with a few frigates, building-up the asteroid's defenses with a repair building + hangars. The "hard" & "aggressive" A.I. never tried to assault this open backdoor to his homeworld : « he » only
I don't know if this has already been reported, but it's annoying enough to insist. It happens to me in SP games since the 1.03 patch. I setup a game with the LOCKED TEAMS option and ally with one comp. The game then starts OK : if I press F1, I can see that the chosen comp & I are locked allies (no changes possible), and the other (enemy) comps do not try to contact me. But ... if I reload a save from that game, the teams become unlocked, and I start receiving
Excerpt from reply #12 :
Brad ["Frogboy" Wardell of Stardock] did actually say in another thread that he was sending bits of code and suggestions to IC for the AI
At last ! :D PTL ;)
Excerpt from reply #3 :
[...] Sorceress, you must also realize that Sins AI is also quite different from the GalCiv AI. [...] It's easy to say the AI isn't so good, and true enough there's always room for improvement for any AI, but at the same time you need to realize the difference in complexity.
;) I did realize the « difference in complexity » between the GalCiv A.I. and the Sins A.I. You took my post at face value (and I don't blame yo
Excerpt from reply #18 :
Whomever says the AI sucks in this game has not tried a 9v1 hard or unfair.
:SURPRISED: A quantity of NINE allied comps is required to illustrate that the quality of the Sins A.I. does not suck ?!! :NOTSURE: The rest of this thread is great, especially, of course, the awesome time & trouble the OP took to deliver us this epic illustration of human skill & courage. GalCiv's A.I., mostly designed & programmed by Brad "Frogboy" Wardell of Stardock, is deeply more complex & sophisticated than Ironclad's A.I. If Ironclad wants to develop better quality updates + an expansion, it will have to « do something » about its so-so A.I. coding. That's not my personal opinion : the forum is full of complaints about the dumb & dumber computer players.
Excerpt from reply #85 : « This game is entirely RTS in my eyes. [MAGOG]Kruelgor, post #69 :
Sorry, I just get a little defensive when someone speaks badly about a game I love so much.
Please don't be sorry : The quote you attacked, in your reply #49, was a nasty & petty caricature.
From reply #63 :
This game is not a 4x game. [...] But I found an interesting RTS game, so I bought it. I then showed it to my friends, all 4x fans as well. I didn't tell them anything about the game, just showed it to them. Their opinion after watching it was "Oh, it's like starcraft!". [...] Sins is a fun RTS, but to in any way act like it's done something other RTS games hasn't is a disservice to games dating all the way back to age of empires, and a disservice to the entire
In your reply to post #19, JINX, I see that you were quite capable of « restraint » : you didn't take the bait ...
Besides exploits, another « reason [why] some of us don't play online » is the untrustworthy character of the strangers you meet to share a game. Dark Priest's post #43 insists on exploits, but those who want to win by any means have more tricks in their bag : joining a FFA with a buddy, with the pre-arranged plan to start as secret allies and win as a secret team, being one of them.
Allow me to be cynical : I venture the hypothesis that most members of our local (and vocal) hyper-competitive « elite » will absolutely migrate to StarCrack 2 and its Blizzard ladders ... ASAP. My hope is that SINS, by then, will have evolved more in the direction of GalCiv 2 (a 4X Space Empire Builder) than SC 2 (a fast & furious RTS).

Ditchdigger106 (reply #89) :
the vast majority of people who play MP [and SP] probably don't surf the forums at all. The fact is, casual MPers [and SPers] are people who really don't care about your super efficient build order [...] I mean, seriously, face it. Most people who play games play them to have fun and blow off some steam. Scouring the forums researching optimal build strategies is not a line of behavior conducive to casual fun.
R
