Let me enlighten those of you who want a cheating A.I on how an AI for an RTS works. There are 30,000+ different parameters being checked all at once, by each computer opponent, those parameters have different answers to each of them and out of that the little AI brain(which uses maybe 1/80th of your CPU) it produces what all those little parameters say to. GCII, and CIV4 both have unique A.I in a Turn-based system where Even on Emperor, some A.I's don't cheat and still beat y

Okay, my brain hurts from reading all the posts, so I'll make this easy on my brain and just say this. I've been a B5 fan since it aired. I've been poking with the code of this game since Beta 1(Hi! I'm the guy that got 10,000 planets on-screen). I'm willing to lend my aid to creating this mod. If anyone who is heading the Modteam wants to contact me, that'd be sweet. Elsewise just keep me updated on the progress and look me up if you need any other help.
If you need someone with a good enough computer to run the game you can talk to me. If you need any other help lemme know.
I think this conversation has pretty much gone off the deep end and should be locked.
So oyu guys know while it is the 21st the actual Beta 2 won't be released till morning most likely, the devs aren't crazy like us, they like their sleep.
You guys are the most impatient beta-testers ever Hi guys! I'm baaaaaaaaack. And I'm ready to do some more betatesting and actually helping instead of being sidelined! Incidentally Thank you Yarlen for the FAQ, it answered all of my current questions! much <3
There is a reason we are here beta-testing, do you know what it is? The guys are Ironclad are like us, they love strategy games, and if they could make this game as realistic as possible, they'd make a game that could last someone up to a year or more to complete, which in the grand scheme of strategy games, is perfect(in that aspect). However, they have to make a game that sells, so it has to appeal to a larger audience than...say...me and my friends, but everyone. Everyone ha
Is it R-rated because yer that ugly?
EditL sorry there were two infinity's the one I was thinking about is different. This one is the ok one ^_^:
And this is me!
Ok since this forum doesn't let us have larger avatars or pictures that could show this. Those of you who aren't a afraid to show what you look like, time to step up, they only have to be links, but SHow yourselves! I gotta scan a pic but I'll be putting one up shortly. Lets share! Or not...our friendly forum moderators could give us the hammer on this...but I think it'd be cool to know the face behind t
See, my opinion on all of this is star wars and star trek can coexist, they are highly similar technologies, but different implementations... Star Wars focused on blowing shit up, Star Trek focused on getting places...each are very good at those indidivual things, therefor tthey are equal. The other universes such as Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica could also work due to the way its situated, also others could work together as well, the fact that we have flame wars is silly
Umm have you ever seen a Kodiak Bear? THEY ARE FUGLY AS H3!!
*has just been found dead with the picture from the simpsons on the screen. The apparent cause of death, death by spleen explosion from laughing too hard*
I can also do soem coding and scripting, just to put that out there. I'm not exactly the greatest but I will lend my help.
Ok I have a Dell Inspiron 1505E I6400 T2400 1.83 GHZ Dual Core, 2 GB Ram. ATI RAdeon 1800+ Mobility and Windows MCE I'm getting a minidump whenever i alt-tab out. -Addendum the minidump is only while I'm actually playing the game. also got a AudioSystem: LoadSample Failure: Not enough memory : .\Sound\Explosion_Sub1_Alt2.ogg error while I was building a repair orbital structure and a research orbital structure and I cancelled the resea
The problem is that you can guess accurately where certain planets are and bee-line straight for them. If everyone behaves the same way then those who are randomly placed away from the predicted position of the Terran planets will always fall behind. This happened over and over again in our multiplayer testing. Aside from that we agree with you. Good ideas are good ideas and are independant of the source. Already, we've demonstrated
Haha, Laww yer horrible! Happy birthday Craig
Also traders should have upkeep as well, so the upkeep of trade ships would at some point be so high you would realize you have too many. They do have upkeep, but currently upkeep seems to be hard-capped at 75%, so after that, so long as your economy can support it, you can build an infinite number of ships. Although I am in favor of an economic 'capping' instead of a hard-cap it should be noted that both of these would limit some of the e
I don't see a problem with the realistic solar systems... From the screens I guess we can always imagine those are not solar systems but whole galaxies and what you see in them are the only noteworthy solar systems, represented by their "main" planet. Ehhhh....We could, but that argument flies out the window when there is only one star(unless you wanted to make that star fracking huge or turn it into a blackhole[oooh please Ironclad PLEASE(that'd be
Gal Civ and Gal Civ 2 tackled the alignment idea, which is partially successful. I believe you are spot on that diplomacy need sto be revamped and the AI needs to be given true reasons. Although I have noticed that I got to a point where I was the same size as another AI and that AI was getting picked on by the other AI's who were bigger. In turn I offered an Alliance with them, got sight and gave them access to trade and my artifacts(having 6 out of 9 = Nice <img src="http://images.st
Its outrageous that Beta 1 has bugs, what kinda crap are they trying to pull on us! May I ask what you expected? Umm I was expecting lotso bugs, actually a lot more than we actually have been seeing(at least on my end and from those I've talked to) This is a very stable beta compared to what I've played before.
I = Star Trek nutcase
I'm whatever the most recent number is +1?
ffbotha...if an AI's bounty is high enough...their nice neighbors start attacking. It's part of their programmed relationship response that we call diplomacy. But yea...Culture DOES work, it DID lift fog of war, I land locked an AI into 2 systems and kept it there, and broadcast centered the hell outta the systems nearby. Took maybe 25 total but I did get the FOW to lift (I'm assuming its your culture vs theirs, they might have enought o have kept you from overpowering theirs)
