for me it's large Advent vs Advent battles. after half an hour of slideshow (about a minute of game time) it resolved itself and went back to normal (until the next Advent vs Advent battle lol).

wow, first official response on this, nice. i'd suggest checking all of the AoE effects, it might not just be Malice (at least fix the graphics stacking of Guardians, thanks ;)
Is there a chance your comp is just overheating under high load? Have you run a stress test? You could try opening up the case and pointing an extra fan in there to see if it helps. You never know, sometimes obvious things like this cause problems. I recently had a computer freezing up under load and it turned out my GPU fan had completely broken and stopped spinning due to being too dusty.
yes, im sure multiple people are having this problem because all of their computer

i've got to agree, flak ships default should be something other then running in front of all of your other ships. i like the defense only idea, would work for other support ships also.
It should be noted that those are hardly high end video cards (8600) - the 7800/7900 series had better DX9 performance then they do.I have 't been able to get any lockups like thisQ66008GB RAM3870X2Vista Ultimate
and is this with large Advent vs Advent fleets? the only time i have massive slowdowns are during these fights.

testy there ;0 he's just saying he would like to see some more in-depth games using a wider variety of units. the best option for that is to set up matches yourself rather then joining random ones, or make a post asking for people interested in longer games etc... if you organize, im sure youll find people.

what KP said. our best guess so far is that its AoE calculations for Advent abilities thar are the main problem, ie Malice, Guardians, Subjagtors. these problems happen even when zoomed out/graphics at low, so we think its the calculations rather then the graphics. an official post on the matter would be nice.

why does any thread mention macs have to turn into macs suxx/macs awesome threads? seriously, its tired, grow up. the OP had a serious question, if you want to participate in that do, otherwise stfu.

the graphics card is more important then the processor for most games, definitely get a better card if you can. what both of ^^^^ said.

so there are now multiple reports now of the game basically seeming to freeze when you have two large Advent fleets fighting. if you let the game run and not quit in frustration the next minute in game time takes over half an hour, at a frame every couple minutes. my guess is this is a problem with the AoE casting abilities of the Guardians and Subjagators, as when there's many of these ships is when the problem happens, even with all of the graphics settings turned to low. something nee

well, as there will be expansions, we can make suggestions for new ships... regardless of how exact the terminology is, calling some new units destroyers would work.

nice idea, but probably moot. the real imbalance later in the game is usually economic, ie ive wiped one of the AI out already and now have more planets, income and resources then any of the rest. not sure what better AI would do then, unless it involves two or more of them ganging up on you.

youre three hours into a game and dont have room at any of your planets for another factory? develop a logistics slot somewhere, you should have more then one frigate factory pumping out units anyway, preferably near your front line.
..By having Mac you are essentially having 2 things:1. real computer with real OS for all your productivity and browsing needs2. gaming console in shape of WiN OSOf course, if you are using your computer just for gaming than it's silly to think about Mac - otherwise its worth every pennySo let me see if I understand what you are saying. Since your computer has an Apple Logo on it... it is a "real" computer, and mine isn't. If yours is a "real" computer, then why won't it run ALL software.

thanks for the mac commentary everyone! hint, some of us work on macs, and would like to play games too. i suggest if you want to game on your mac get one with the latest graphic card possible you can get. ie dont get an mac book, get a mac book pro, or get the best graphic card available in an imac. intergrated graphics sucks for games regardless if mac or windows. i run windows in bootcamp on a mac book pro and play many, many games, with minimal issues (the same issues you
Yeah, there should be 4 1500 credit destroyers...1) A tanker that can force opponents to attack it briefly but does less damage. maybe has more shields and hull2) A battle destroyer that takes out heavy cruisers and maybe lrms because i hate those .3) A support destroyer that increases firepower somehow... and of course destroys lrms because i hate those.4) A destroyer that destroys destroyers of course... or maybe a cap ship that does this. i think there should be a counter to every unit
