My apologies for not noticing that little detail, I did a search for 1.04 files but turned up a load of other results that weren't of much use (about a hundred post #104's etc..) I also assumed by the sticky still being 1.03 that 1.04 hadn't been out yet. Thanks for the link though, much appreciated.

Just curious when the data files are coming out for download becuse I;m eager to update my 1.02 mods up to 1.04 and look to have some free time coming up this weekend in which to do so.
Indeed, although 24 hours is a little slim given most of us can only play 2-3 hours on any a given day, and maybe 6 on a weekend if we're lucky. Perhaps 15 days would be more a reasonable time.
Aye, I "test drive" movies all the time by renting them. (and board games by loaning them from the local library) Unfortunately that's impossible to do with pc games, and most "demos" are stripped of all the interesting and unique features, or have only 20 minutes or so of game play, hardly enough to tell if it's any good or not. Hence the reason why some people torrent them, to see if the games worth playing or not. If the games worth it, then ya, spending money to support it is only
I think the final solution is that we should only steal from EA. This benefits us in 2 ways:1) EA stops making shitty games.2) Stardock/ironclad controls more of the market.Note that you are not limited to internet piracy. You can steal (or burn) crappy EA games from stores if you really want to make a difference. Start with the Harry Potter games please.
LOL! That really made my evening, thanks. ;)
I really like the changes to this over 1.03, and impressed with how quickly the patch came out, I was figuring 1.04 would be at least 2 months or more down the road from 1.03, truly outstanding support :D
Excellent feedback Blair :D I have to admit i was a little worried we might all be whistling into the wind about what we wanted to see and it'd be for the most part ignored. I happy to see I was gravely mistaken; the support for this game is absolutely top notch.
These are excellent, I can hardly wait for the download to be available. Definitely a superb job.
Like I said, trainers are of more use than just "winning (or whatever you call it) But also are of great use when play testing when creating mods to make sure they're running correctly. (such as whether a new research item far along the tech tree researches and enables correctly) Otherwise you'll be spending tons of time play testing and less time finishing the mod. They;re also useful if you just want to get an over all look at the game (what ships are available to team x, what team x'
Here's a link to a 1.02 trainer for Sins, useful for play testing single player mods or when you just want to have some fun :) http://files.filefront.com/sse+cheatexe/;9934708;/fileinfo.html
It's cute how he claims people who play fps's are mindless peons, yet he claims to have mastered them. Nothing like the pot calling the kettle black. (and I assume he must have "mastered" fps games on the highest difficulty possible as well as completely cleaned house in online competitions since it's sooo "simple." :p ) For a troll Magog's pretty sad. I've seen similar attempts from Maggie, my neighbors 12 year old. But anyway, back OT: As far as pircacy goes
There's a simple solution to this "game breaking problem." It's called the SAVE function. Save the game, (as far as I know anyone can save) then when the host leaves you can just reload the save, have the other players rejoin and continue.
In short, no I don't have any idea how badly it would break an average mod, hence the reason why I listed it as a suggestion. ;) It woudl howe3ver work for mods that alter different files. (and a simple check sum comparison to make sure two of the same file isn't present in both mods would prevent the crashes you're talking about.
did you use the version 1.02 mod tool stuff or 1.03?
QFT means quoted for truth.
In other circles it's also known to mean "Quit effing trying" and used by people to singnify a "oh come on, quit trying to be a poser" response in order to provoke a flame war. My sincere apologies to Tjorriemorrie if I indeed misinterpedted his response as an attempt to troll when it was intended as agreement to my post. :NOTSURE: But back OT: out of curoisity how well did this mod wind up working out? anyone know?
Out of cusiosity, does anyone know of the correct e-mail address to write to asking about permission for stuff like this? (I'm willing to send them an e-mail and find out what they've got to say about the possibly of the mod for Sins, but would rather it not get lost amid a pile of corporate mail or sent to the wrong addy.)
this forum did have that « report this post » feature, for many months. When they did a major forum overhaul, in February, they removed it ... possibly because it caused too many reports to read & evaluate -- not always appropriate reports. The Moderators risk getting flooded by trivial & frivolous reports -- or nasty spams.
Ah, the easiest solution around that is to warn/ban people that are abusing the system and flagging posts under false pretenses. (Something I assumed
Another idea that would be helpful is to enable a "report this post" option so registered users can flag spam and deliberately inflamatory posts for moderation before they get out of hand.
Before you reformat double check and make sure you have the disks for some fo the programs that were already on the computer you use regularly. (such as ms word, excel, etc..) Those don't come poreinstalled with the basic xp package, and unexpectedly losing the ability to do word/spread sheet processing can be very painful. (Especially if you use the pc for work/college) Oh and make sure you have the drivers for the dual core processor as well, since your machine/programs will get buggy
One change I'd dearly love to see is the ability to load more than one mod at the same time. If I want to play multiple mods currently it's just not possible unless I personally go through and merge them both togther into a single mod. Part of the way to prevent file erros when two different mods both change the same files is to have which ever mod is loaded first take priority on files. (example, you want to load two mods, one that improves the power of captial ships, and a an
So, any luck on this? Is it possible or just wishful thinking at this point?
Great suggestions Annatar, and with luck ones more people will take to heart. I'm still impressed Stardock takes the time to visit the forums and interact with the community and listen to our input. The only other compnay I can remember giving that kind of commitment to quality was Kerberos, the producers of Swords of The Stars. When you see the devs take a personal interest in seeing their game improved and expanded upon in each patch based off of quality community feed back (
just hope you guys will add the z-axis into the game which allows the units to fly up and down and also rotating planets around the star. Then, this game is perfect.
Actually the Z axis is already in the game, go into your controls config and just bind a key for it ;)
The new patches sound wonderful, and it;s great to see a company that supports their game in regards to player feedback.
np, I'm not sure if it'll crash the game still or not, but if someone feels like updating my mod to v 1.3 then by all means feel free to do so. If you e-mail me a copy of the updatred files I'll be happy to host it.
