The AI doesn't use them in mass numbers, and deploying them early drives up your upkeep a lot.

I see that happen once or twice. After the appropriate cussing has been alotted, I disband allegiance. Poor colony frigate; never stood a chance.
Link? Multianna? No.
Not necessarily; the AI isn't smart enough to keep it's bombers/fighters away from flaks, and it usually never puts cannons at the exit. All you have to do is wait until the bombers reach you, obliterate, and then move in. The bombers take time to build, and can be picked off one-by-one after the initial assault.
Yeah I hate when the AI does that. 10 flaks takes down any number of bombers, though.
When something is "in orbit", it experiences centripetal force. The centripetal force is provided by gravity, in which case whenever anything is "in orbit", it is "falling". The sun is orbitting around the center of the galaxy, but not all things orbit the center of the galaxy. Our planets orbit around the sun, not the center of the galaxy. Why? They are in immediate proximity to the sun, whereas the galaxy is far away. You may ask yourself, "if the galactic core is strong enou
Flak frigates and scout frigates alone can defeat bombers and gauss cannons. Gauss cannons are incredibly fragile and don't do well against frigates en masse.
I think that it is a lua-based script language, which means everything is pre-defined and it'd be impossible to "create" new code. This was done with Homeworld 2, which made it difficult to modify more interesting aspects of the gameplay.
Well it's understandable; don't want anyone stealing their models before the game is released. Have no fear, we modders only want to put OUR models in. Oh, and the "Frensh" strings were a laugh.
What is a .mesh file? I assume it's related to the game meshes, in which case how would one open it up to look at it?
For assumption #2, please include an option that makes units auto-target units that they are most effective against. Ex. flak frigates shoot down bombers, then move onto frigates.
Yes please.
I'm going to try to make a list of the problems I've got, which aren't a lot so far (good job) and I'd like it to be basically "view only" for the devs. I'm not sure if it's going to be easier or more difficult for them but it's worth a try. 1. The hotkey for planet development (or, the a key) does not work. The hotkey itself works for other units, and so does other hotkeys for the planet (i.e. build frigates) 4/8/07. 2. The "show planet elevators" box is always on and can not
Home. ACCESS. I can see what you're getting at Blair but just make scuttling a repetition of one key 'X' amount of times. Ex, if the scuttle key is alt+h, make the user press alt+h three times repeatedly and it'll start a countdown. Also include a cancellation button, probably alt+j or something, and there we go.
I could install and update my copy of Sins on two different hard drives; I'm pretty sure it's human error. I rely on the auto update from Stardock though.
I think the inhibitor just needs an on/off button. And I think the phasejump immunity should only apply to scout frigates, I believe at the moment it applies to everything.
Keep in mind I have an older system, pre PCI-express and core duo or whatever. Intel Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz Geforce FX 5700VE 1 Gb RAM resolution: 1280 x 1024 textures: medium anti-aliasing: off I get lag a lot when there's more than 30 units on screen (zoomed in), getting too near to planets also causes lag (even without space elevators). Zoomed out everything is fine.
Thank you Ironfuzz, your answers have been helpful. A few more suggestions: 1) The tutorial needs to be expanded out. Giving you the benefit of the doubt, I will assume you will still expand the tutorial, but some of the things you want to keep in mind is features like "group phase jump". The tutorial merely taught me how to engage the enemy (which is a simple point-click manuever) and nothing I couldn't already figure out about economy (taxes = credits, mine for metal, mine fo
I have some suggestions; sorry if they were repeated but I don't really have time to keep up with how fast this thread grew: 1) The TEC seem to have no offensive frigate other than the scout frigate and the heavy frigate. The research required between these two frigates is a giant gap, forcing TEC players to spam (build a lot of) scout frigates to bolster one's fleet instead of building a more suitable unit. Capital ships are fortunately within easy access, but their cost prevents them
Bang, look at my post and the solution. I think you have the same problem.
I also do not like "jumping through gravity wells". edit: I also would like mouse control (camera) options. Specifically mouse rotation speeds, inverting horizontal/vertical rotations (seperate of course), and turning on/off "smooth" rotation (when the camera continues to rotate after letting go).
Delete your uimappings.setting file and reload. Something corrupted the file. Yes that worked. Thank you. edit: I would like to point out that the sound is clipped off at times (during fire fights). Is this just me?
I can not get my game to start. When I double click the icon, it loads a giant black screen with no sound or intro movie. I have tried disabling the intro movie and it still has the same problem. I get some errors shortly after: Missing \n in C:\Documents and Settings\Kevin Huynh\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting\uimappings.setting TextFileArchive ( C:\Documents and Settings\Kevin Huynh\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a So
Ok, this is a step by step walkthrough of how to download the beta if you have already pre-ordered it for Sins of a Solar Empire. This may or may not be required, but after spending 10 frantic minutes I got thoroughly annoyed. 1) Open up Stardock Central . 2) Click on the Games tab on the right. 3) Locate Sins of a Solar Empire in the game list. 4) Highlight and right click on it and select Register Products . 5) In the new m
Thank you for the speedy response Blair, though I was hoping something more along the lines of "Yes we will continue to spend some time touching up on graphics, even though we will focus more so on other areas of development". Doesn't hurt to push you guys, right?
