The details on the planets look amazing, but I'm skeptic of how they will look when zoomed in. They are pretty near, but still out of range, it looks. Backgrounds are awesome, as usual. Still no lighting improvement (at least from what I can see). Still look bland (like though they're part of the texture) and don't give off a glow still. A real glow would be nice, as opposed to integrating it with the texture. At least, that's the impression I'm getting. The background lighting

I imagine the beta responses will be hell, with a lot of repeats and a lot of annoying, non-important points. I hope you guys are ready for that.

That Empire Tree looks like the one in Nexus, so it isn't that bad. 'course Nexus only had 8 ships max at any given time.

The FAQ doesn't really help in specific areas; I have some questions if you don't mind: Are we going to be able to import our own ship models into the game without a thousand-dollar software kit? Something like an .obj file converter to whatever you guys use would be nice. Will the User Interface be customizable? Will we be able to define different gameplay types (pre-made or custom ones)? (for example, Homeworld had different gameplay types outside of "killing the mot

That explains it a little bit then, Blair. Sorry for underestimating that nebula as the light source! And I want to point out it's not about the camera. I know and have confirmation that camera is fully 3d (because Blair said so a while ago). I'm mainly talking about the ships and their orientation. They are always orientated so you have a clear idea of what's "up" and "down". Realistically speaking, it would be nice to have that, but, practically, it'd be sort of disorientating and con

Homeworld was 3d. So was Nexus. But they're vastly different (camera- + movement-wise). When the beta comes out we can finally tell which one Sins is.

I think the weapon effects are getting better, judging by the rather large beam in the screenshot. Not sure what the deal is with that flare right above the beam though. Didn't notice the shield until someone pointed it out, either. The capital ship (that's being fired on) probably hadn't gone through any changes since the last screenshot (at least, not to my knowledge), but it's good as is. Can't make out any of the other ships. Judgeing by the orientation (of ships in all the

The damage idea is kind of lame. I've had to experience a complete mission failure in Nexus just because my ships were too close when something went boom. In Homeworld, your fighters would explode and your frigates go down to half health when a mothership was obliterated. It is just not fun.

Nexus didn't have anywhere near the amount of ships on screen as Sins does.I would not be so confident, yet. Apparently someone hasn't reached the latter missions! You are right but I think it'll still hold up quite well, as Yarlen demonstrates. D

If you guys could run Nexus (minus the full-screen glow option, which is just horrible lag), then this so far shouldn't be a problem.

From what I can see, you guys have done good on those textures. They have a nice metallic sheen and the textures give it a good feel. Still, I think the lighting is a bit bland, but that may be the angle of the screenshot. Can't see much of the shadows or light maps; I am looking at the station at the right and the lights don't seem to be lights (they don't give off a glow), if you get my drif
