I didn't even noticed the suns looked like that! Everytime I looked at a sun it was distorted, as though the glass filter on photoshop went crazy.

The z-axis is not limited, which made me understand why the dev's decided to keep buildings on the x/y plane. I sent a handful of cobalts to (what I thought at the time) was the sky of a system. I just kept going and going and still no end in sight. Imagine putting a phase inhibitor up there. What was worse was that you had to come all the way back down to go to the next system.
Please, I know the upgrades are an integral part already but how do you feel about upgrading them early on as opposed to all at once in mid-game? My question is not if upgrades are useless! And I was trying to create an all-capital ship fleet yesterday. In my opinion the resources for it are way too little to make one early on.
The (weapon) upgrades are a pain because they are so expensive for very little benefit early on. Their 5-10% is something like 1 point of extra damage. On the missile frigate I see a benefit because it fires something like 10 missiles per second, but on a light frigate it is almost useless. I'm going to look into the trade port and refineries idea. I admit I've had shortages in mid-game yesterday but that could because I was steam-rolling through research or mass building frigates and c
It is better this way so that you can't just roll into a galaxy with a huge fleet and expect to take everything. You can't just invade a country and expect them to listen. This allows the invadee some breathing space because you don't suddenly gain more and more resources to fuel your invasion. Before, whenever he lost a system you gained a system. Now, when he loses a system, you don't gain anyth
In a multiplayer game this would not work, it would be unbalanced.
When you say that do you actually notice a difference, Ron? Try removing the Command Cruisers and see if you notice a difference. And what do the Robotics Cruisers do? I never built them before. Armor is not percentage based and is probably a little more useful, but again, any noticeable difference between upgrading/not? Like, first-hand experience, not "I do it".
Upgrading fleet capacity doesn't let you queue up ships until the research is done. Un-/intentional?
Some more thoughts (can't edit first post...) Do you guys build trade ports/refineries? Have you noticed a significant difference or you just build them "just because" (same goes with upgrades)? And regarding my first question, please, if you don't use capital ships at all (like myself), don't say that "capital ships suck" because you don't use them usually. I have had times where I built capital ship groups which were just as effective as my recent mix of cruisers and frigates
I've just played through my, what, fourth full game? Not to say I haven't started more than four, I just never finished more than four. Anyways, do you guys tend to use frigates and cruisers (if cruisers at all), pure capital ships, or a mix? I usually don't bother with capital ships and go straight for the frigates. The only cruisers I ever built were the light carriers, mainly for their bomb
(currently listening to opening theme) At around 2:35 or so the vocals get a little awkward since they are countering the melody instead of supporting it. I suggest some strings instead or something that doesn't stick out as much. At around 3:10 we hear something that sounds like tinkling (I really don't know what the instrument is called) and it adds a very nice sound! Try finding other places you can add this, it gives a very uplifting sensation. The rattle is kind of random,
Did you build a trade port in the other system? [/stupid question]
But then the tactical level of 3D connections falls short. Being in 3d gives you more tactics, where you come directly above the planet? Or a little below sometimes? It's much more than just aethetics guys.
Guild Wars has a little message every hour. It even tells you to get off if you stay on long enough, lol.
As a Homeworld fan, that manual full of background info had spoiled me for future games.
I think he's saying: "If you group a whole bunch of ships, and then mouse over the number icon in the Empire Window, it pops a little window showing you exactly what's in it in the bottom right. It would be nice if you could select ships using that window instead of opening it up and alt clicking." I don't really see a point if you can just alt+click a ship and select all of them that way.
Matthew, when you say "can be a pain" does that mean you have tried it or you imagine it can just be a pain? I have yet to try it at all.
I think ice planets with 3 crystal asteroids is pretty overkill already. Metals are also pretty easy to get in Asteroid systems. I would like to see Terran planets stripped of more features though, becoming a credit/military/logistic point.
Most of all the quiet series and two battle tracks are what I've gone through. I love the quiet ones. Except 3, it's the damned voice synthesizer again.
I feel like I could use the info cards, but I don't. I feel the same way about zoom to mouse.
You guys know there's like, a billion songs in the sound folder? Like, a billion we never heard before in the game . I thought battle3 was kind was weird, probably because of the breathing thing. So far battle 4 sounds awesome though.
That's because we are without a Nexus camera Psy! ...even though it is in the main menu. Huh...
But with ice planets near the outside and terran planets near the in? Must've been a trade off between getting minerals first or getting credits first.
An "interception" behavior (similar to attack behavior) with the 3 listed above (or something similar) is what we all want, I guess?
I remember in beta 1 my enemies' planets were totally unguarded and free for the taking. About 5 mins later a fleet of 100+ frigates and several capital ships jumped in and raped my worlds. I would like to see more of that. XD
