It would make no sense for a star to give a shield bonus to ALL ships....what would be the strategy involved in that. Everybody's ships would be identical. What would be the point in having the bonus if it changes nothing. Actually it would be better than you think. If a star gives a percentage based bonus to shields, than any ship that relies on shields rather than armor for defense would have a signific

"Ion Cannon in the game?" WHY WHY WHY !!! leave Star wars out! There is a disabling weapon but is does not have to, and should NOT, follow the Star wars convention of ION = disabling. And you think starwars is the only science fiction that used that idea? The idea is actually very plausible in reality, as is much of the starwars universe (although not their space physics). I can't stand the people who
This should really be moved to off topic as it has no relevance to actual modding.
But it's already been stated that pirates will have their own ships...
It's all supposedly there. Just the devs decided that gravity was a feature that would be either too hard to implement or too costly to fully develop. But I read somewhere on the forums that the coding for gravity is there.
Yeah, my brother is real big into Reynolds' works.
I definitely don't think that the autocannon should fire constantly like that. I do however believe it should fire larger salvos (numerically speaking, not in terms of the size of the rounds) and more often. But firing constantly just doesn't seem to look very good to me. Although, I do admit the BSG defensive barrage looked cool, keep in mind that that is not how they always fire their weapons. That was an emergency situation. Perhaps make something like that work for the Finest Ho
I take it from your comment this stuff annoys the heck out of you too?
I'm actually quite partial to that deepspace skybox myself, the one that has a few blue clouds but most is just black with stars.
So I've noticed that everytime a feature that the devs say probably not to is posted, people cry out "Make it an optional feature! You can either play with it or without it!" This doesn't make it anymore possible than having it as a mandatory feature. It's one thing if all it is is for show, and enabling it would just use more CPU. But most of this comes in the form of things like orbits, debris (which despite the devs saying it's there just not in beta yet people keep creating new t
1. The devs have already stated that there will be no orbits. 2. Ship debris has already been stated as in the game, just not the beta yet (either due to it being incomplete or the devs want to limit the beta variables). The issue of fighters flying through planets has also been addressed and is being worked on I believe. 3. This has been mentioned in a previous thread, but I can't find it right now. 4. Having little (as in significant but not game breaking) plane
The "Move: All grouped" would have to be relative to the gravwell though, not ships produced from. Otherwise you would have on fleet across the system from your factory, make another fleet, move it, and suddenly your fleet from the other side of the system shows up.
You also forgot to add, is this an offensive fleet, or a defensive fleet. Both have very different requirements. An offensive fleet needs to be very mobile, able to dodge or neutralize in some way planetary defenses, whereas a defensive fleet needs to be somewhat mobile, able to respond quickly to a threat, but it needs to hold it's ground and supplement your own planetary defenses.
About the KOL not being huge, it is the first TEC warship designed to be a warship. It would have a more efficient design than the other TEC Capships, and so would offer more bang for its size. well not really. as TGE said its there first war for a millenia so they would panic. thinking "OH GOD!!!!" so there going to strap the biggest guns, the latest tec and design a ship that can handle it all. then s
Ugh, not this again. A flagship does not have to be big. It does not have to even be mean. A flagship of a fleet is just the ship that has the ranking naval officer of the it's fleet onboard. In calling the Kol the TEC's flagship battleship, it just means it's the first one, which it is.
Yeah, that happens to me too. They are all grouped and like 2 or 3 of them jump ahead, I've even had several groups of 2-3 wait for the others in their little group before jumping ahead of the rest. It usually isn't too bad for me though.
Ah, ok, I thought I had read that somewhere. Well, regardless, if IC is working with SD then it must be a trustworthy (no pun intended) company.
Indeed, Stardock and IC (although I haven't heard of any of IC's games other than SINs, are there any?) are the only gaming companies I actually put trust into when concerning games.
Thanks guys, that's exactly what I was looking for.
Sova is fine, actually looks like a carrier, leave it alone. The marza on the other hand could definately use a sleeker look.
Ok, so I'm reviving this thread for a question. Those of you who have it, what would you suggest in terms of video card(s), ram, processor, etc? Particularly if your pc runs it well on relatively high settings, what is your pc build?
August to be exact.
Yeah, I really hope that IC lets us download a few more copies of the mp beta so we can try it out with our friends over lan and such, and that we don't have to play just over the net with other beta users.
I very occasionally see my fighters attacking non-strikecraft if there were no strikecraft to begin with, but the hotfix seemed to actually fix it for the most part for me, and it doesn't seem to be a consistent problem.
I've seen 4 factions become 2 in one galaxy (before I explored it). Just keep an eye out for when a faction dies and it wasn't you that ended it.
