So far it's Rise of Nations in space. Not that that was on your list, but that's pretty much it. Only on a somewhat larger (for certain aspects) scale and with only certain areas where you can fight.

Thank you lordkosc. Funny thing though, although the US is a playable side in the game, you can't select the US as your home country in the sign up?
I was thinking about this today, towards endgame, there is almost no neutral territory in between factions. Every planet is colonized in a system and excluding the sun which noone fights in (haven't figured out why the AI is so afraid of fighting in the star's gravwell) you are either in friendly territory or enemy territory (which is usually heavily fortified on one side). Why not make more uncolonizable gravwells other than the star, I dunno, black holes or something (unrealistic f
But the planet types are different. Terran has higher pop cap, thus higher taxes, ice has more crystal nodes (not metal though), volcanic gives you more fleet logistic points, and I think desert has more orbital logistics points? Not sure what the benefit of asteroids are though.
To turn yourself clockwise, you would need one thruster in the front left firing at the same time one in the back left was firing at the same thrust, thus cancelling out any lateral momentum, but each thruster would push the opposing end in the opposite direction. Hope that was in english for you guys.
Actually, I think the AI uses "bomb" in place of "attack" (don't think I've ever heard the AI tell me to "attack" a planet, just bomb). And since uninhabited planets tend to have pirates, what the AI wants you to do is help them get rid of the pirates.
Sprite games were the stuff (don't want the devs yelling at me). I miss the days when games were sprite driven. 3D is cool and all, but sometimes old school is better.
its open beta, DL it and see for yourself. im kicking ass at it http://www.worldinconflict.com/main/downloads.html fileplanet says its subscriber only, beacuse they are evil nazis. Massive Games says Hey guys, come try it. Unlike some people here, I don't have unlimited HD space to download everything I want. Therfore, before I uninstall something then reinstall it, I want to know what
I don't mean to be a nagger or annoying, but could someone please answer my question? The concept looks pretty cool, and I would like to know how it's going to play.
I hope you didn't actually believe that.
I've seen it but couldn't figure out if it was RTS or more BF 1942 style FPS?
Yeah, diplomacy is not one of the strong points of the game so far, but apparently the gameplay beta has left alot of gameplay elements out according to the powers that be, so meh.
Since when has TV or movies made sense? It would be one thing if they actually made passes, but if they are just going to sit there and shoot at the enemy as they do, they don't need to move forward and turn, they should just spin around. It also affects gameplay because sometimes I will tell my guys to attack someone but they will overshoot the target and have to move and turn around which leaves them vulnerable. to attack vs if they just turned around without moving forward. Same goes for e
By carrier stations I'm assuming you mean the cruisers? You would need I think 80 tactical points for that and I don't think they increased that, only logistics points.
Yeah, they've said it several times before, even before beta 1 came out.
As always you guys are amazing Blair.
I saw it too. I however went to bed when I realized they were down, figuring they would be up in the morning. And they were.
So the miniseries are from the first 3 books or the last? Its been a "couble" of years since i saw them the last time, but im sure they got the planet tobecome green in Children of Dune as i remember. So aint that the end? The first three. Getting Arakis green is not the end of it the series, far from it in fact. Anyways, I didn't think of this before but the Naked Sun by Asimov is also
Yeah, and the miniseries only covers the first 3 books, not all 6.
Damn, psugar took mine. All six of them, prequels by Brian and Kevin aren't as good imo, and haven't read the 7th by Brian though, but as I said, prequels weren't so good, so meh. Anyways, yeah, Dune is pretty much the only sci-fi novel I've read that I really could get into, I've read some aliens/predator novels, and some halo novels, but most of what I read is non-fiction so...
Multiplayer beta will be the next beta sometime in august according to the powers that be. Anyways, what I would like to see is more empire building. Right now I feel like I'm not the emperor, but just a military commander who has control over building naval bases on planets. I want to see things like tax rates, morale, better diplomacy (ie trading more than just resources, perhaps ships too, and planets, the economy and tech treaties idea from GalCivII DA was cool, and more alliances
Ah, so that's why I had so much trouble that one time...
+ Can now arbitrary move at the sun again! Huh? Are you sure you used arbitrary right?
I thought this was the gameplay beta though. As in, like 90% of the gameplay elements are out. Even if that last 10% is empire stuff, I don't think you have enough to make it 4x like the civs or GC or moo.
It's not a 4x game. Not any more than starcraft. Explore: Find the next support base (planet) location and Expand: Build a Com center/nexus/nursery (colonize a planet) and build buildings around it and exploit 2 (3) different types of resources. Then continue exploring to find your enemies bases (planets) and destroy them (as that is the only way you can win the game). If sins is a 4x game, than so is starcraft, and I think most people would agree that starcraft is not a 4x. Just
