It would be a pretty cool idea, (since most ships fire forward) to have ships drift backwards abit after firing , and then compensate using their engines (2-3 engine bursts) to move close again.

you can also edit your user settings.ini file to , change the number of units able to stack, I edited mine from 10 to 50 , so it pretty much selects every one of the units of that type in the gravity well.

sirex1 summed up the speed issue well, it needs 1 more level of fast, and on the other side of the spectrum, I've seen people who want it slower, so add 1 more level below slow. Its super easy to do , just need the in game button to have 2 more settings. I wouldnt change the battles times though... i like watching the pew-pew battles <3

I too love the game, but its changed so much in some ways for the better in some ways for the worse. BETA 1 back in the day, made the game feel like a [I][B]fast [/B][/I]paced RTS, by the time it hit retail it turned into what it is now, a RT4X game.

I am all for a faster paced game, but not the entire game, just certain aspects of it. I like the pew-pew battles, but waiting for ships to slowly putter across a gravity well is not fun. I will be planning a MOD to make this game the game I want it, the DEVs have been nice enough to give us just about everything we need, all we are waiting for is the mod tools.
i focus on economy, then some weaps, then culture, and then whatever i feel fits best.
