Its funny you should say that Overthrow but I was thinking along the same lines, if you muse through the earlier posts you'll see as much. If anyone is interested in joining the mod team for B5 & SoaSE come register at [link="http://babylon5mod4soase.myfreeforum.org/"]WWW Link[/link] Introduce yourself and feel free to speak openly about your ideas or better still examples... I am a firm believer in actions speak louder than words :HOT: it adds a lot of weight to your op

I like the organic look nice work, reminds me of the X3 Boron textures which were also very good. Can yolu explain a little more about the process used to make the changes?

I am pleased to announce that the 'gathering' of foundation members of the B5 mod team for SoaSE is now complete. I tend to check this thread every other day for peoples views and opinions so please continue to throw your thoughts into the mix we are listening.
When do you think we could test the v.0 of this mod?
Hard to say, we are forming the team atm. Release date is dependent on far too many variables for me to even suggest a date that would be meaningful.

I imported an X3 model straight into SoaSE beta4 last year as a test for hi-poly models in game. It worked pretty well.. I'm not sure how SoaSE will handle a model for model swap with the X3 races, thats quite a lot of processing power you're playing with there I hope you have a fast PC ;p You are probably going to have to scale things down somewhat.

That and I guess we can always use older models as place holders for future updates, need to be realistic given the pool of skills at our disposal.

Both Bridge Commander and ST:Armada2 use visual models whilst good for their time are looking a little dated. Now it might well be that the Mesh is good and that the textures need updating I'm afraid I'm not experienced enough to say one way or the other. @ Darthriddick & Trenthowell : What is the typical polygon count of the models you have?

I have had 20 Babylon5 Shadow Battlecrabs and 5 Minbari Sharin Warcruisers in game at once in Beta 4. If ur looking for 1st prize that probably has to go to Major Stress for his published pics of USS Enterprise in game, followed by Battlefield Gothic then Babylon 5. I'm afraid Star Wars was a little further down the timeline but has put in a good show recently.

Anyone who is interested in contributing to SoaSE mods would do well to check out SoftImage XSI, in particular: - Mesh Imports - UV Mapping - Texturing - Lighting + using Adobe Photoshop with the Nvidia DDS plugin. With a little research it seems as though there are many scifi-meshes out there so you shouldn't have to build everything from scratch if you get permission or follow the authors conditions for it use. Players that have spent many hours

'B5: The Lost Tales' talks about the future Centauri giving Earth force a bit of a pasting, I think in the case of the Centauri they lacked the political will for a large war machine capacity rather than technology.

It can be done and they cannot afford to devote the resources to it at this time (possibly never)... I think they have been very clear. In defence of Ron 'the wall' Lugge, he is trying to put the view forward that it can't be done in the immeadiate future, he's not saying it can't be done at all. Once the game has passed the release date, day one patch and any unforseen problems we might be able to make a wish list for things like this. Personally I would like to see t

I never played Star Trek Armada 2, but I know the B5 mod is spoken highly of amoung B5 video game fans. What the SoaSE B5 mod is lacking most is an experienced modder(s) to lead a less experienced team/community, we still need a champion. Talking to people and gethering info is the answer and your offer to contribute Trentbowell is most welcome, and for others too use the SoaSE & my B5 demo vid as PR. Here is the link to the B5 demo vid again as its got a bit burried i
It's not really the game engine either. It's the fact that every single ship has an AI script running, and is rendered in one way, shape, or form by the GPU
That doesn't ring true either cos when I tested it my GPU wasn't overly stressed. In my opinion the game engine can't handle it, but in the same breath (before any one starts posting 'over dramatic bullsh*t'), its not designed to either... The game engine runs very well thank you very much within the toleranc
Depends... how much memory you got?
Its not dependent on system memory based on my beta4 tests, its the game engine thats the limiting factor. I have 8GB RAM btw and SoaSE has never used more than 1.2GB even with 25,000 ships. Its probably more accurate to say that the game engine scales to 400 ships per player, it can display a hell of a load more but as my 3yr old daughter would say 'tiz not workin?'
