the discussion is going well! megaships, dear devs, are something I feel the community and the game would benefit from. megaships being built as large, unique-to-each ships with customizable traits and perhaps even designs. megaships should be balanced by cost and be constructed in such a way that their functions don't slate the game towards wild imbalance. they should be like the Bismark, except maybe having a bit more longevity.

also, megaships would be balanced so that they wouldn't actually be the end all be all of the game. capital ships would be able to challenge them, though with superiority of numbers.
well, specifics would include: 1) the potential to have a 'real' flagship. honestly, the flagship currently in the game is just another kol battleship. there is no variety with that. 2) each race would have the potential to build one...maybe two if you wanted to get the whole sister ships thing going, but probably one. so balancing issues are pretty level headed if everyone gets one. 3)these ships should be customizable. the game allows for individual vessels (cap ships) to
like the great harbor ship of Bentus! (from Homeworld)
Canb we please have megaships?? huge vessels that would be the product of years of construct, the effort of entre civilizations, and the cusp of technology~! please, can we have them!?!?!?
oh em gee... definitely, do the words SUPER STAR DESTROYER mean anything to the people here? i pray to God that they do. if a megaship is to be added, it would be amazing. HUGELY (pun intended) amazing. fully customizable, yes! flagship of the empire, yes!
oh, the fomentation of dialog! how it pleases me!
but going around on a soapbox just doesnt work. amen. ...as for the talk of shemales, i'll be the first one to say this: I'm a she-elf. Dwarves fall over me left and right.
Sorta like in BSG when the Pegasus took out 2 Basestars by ramming the first one, exploding then a huge chunk of it took out the 2nd one... It was super cool to watch, but in a game it would be super frustrating. ...that's one of the most influential instances of ship ramming i have ever seen! BSG rocks!! ...it makes me tingly. but anyway, I'm here to apologize if i've been a meanie pants. Sorry guys, but I really want s
you're right. i've been far too aggressive. i apologize to the community here and to the developers. it is within my right to criticize, but i have been doing so in a manner that is both caustic and nonconstructive. i do think the game is fun, but it's simply not what I expected. Forgive me if i have offended anyone.
matty_p, if you despise this game so much, maybe you should've considered doing more research before pre-ordering. Most of what you asked for has already been discussed, some of it long before your PC Gamer article. For example, the realistic placement of planets has been shot down several times since the beta came out. It simply does not work. Players know where to go to get the good planets, and a player that starts off far from the belt of preferred worlds gets left
Hmmm, so you think you can teach/tell your commanders that ramming is a great tactic to use, and the there won't be leaks to the media or civilians about it? Do you think other enlisted men won't hear about it? Do you think the surviving ship crews won't say anything about what they see happen during battles? While in battle, do you think when you radio a ship to ram a target, your other ships won't hear your transmission? Do you think other empires won't report these
well, considering the decision is made on the bridge/command deck, there really wouldn't be much choice to those others after the command crew have decided. the crew would know they'd be accelerating, but to where? there's no idea. al this assuming the ship's captain hasn't first issued the abandon ship command. you don't need the entire crew to steer into an enemy capital ship. it's not a death tactic. it's called being innovative, you've issued the order to abando
I prefer the idea of an open map where you can go anywhere. this is what i'm yearning for in this game! i mean, it would be good to have tactical limitations too. like an asteroid belt, or a nebula that hinder movement. or planets that are too close to jump between. anything but what we currently have now.
i agree. it's a good suggestion.
Let me start of by saying how utterly disappointed I am with the galaxy in the current version. If there were to be a model of the galaxy that would be the least realistic ever designed, this would be it! PLEASE NOTE: this is my own personal opinion and I hope no one is offended by it. My suggestions would include, short of a entire redesign; the nixing of the phased jump lanes, inclusion of solar orbits for planets, inclusion of planetary orbits, inclusion of moons (following planeta
i think that the flak frigate has a flammable warning label on the side...that's what it looked like, but i don't know for sure.
amen to suggestions, no more automation. this game has way too much automation; from ship combat to phase jumps.
i dislike the phased jump lanes too, they make the game's space seem like an Oprah marathon; from one thing to another with not possibility of independent exploration. and battle AI is awkward. there' almost no strategy. the AI auto attacks whatever it wants, whenever it wants. strategy is nil. also, unit caps are the way of these types of games. i think they should be certain levels of caps...optimum, stressed, and depleted. optimum = perfect balance between milit
ship collision? unbalanced? the only thing that's unbalanced is the reasoning of the dev who said that. my understanding is that if you attempt to create a game that contains elements of real strategy you need real physics and real-to-life dynamics. certain things that are, for logistical reasons, added in or taken out. now, i'm not dogging on SINS, i'm just trying to make a statement. ship collisions would, in no possible way, be unbalanced. first of all, it'd b
Can we have it? Please?!?! if your main battle fleet is in the inevitable peril of destruction, the most desperate commander would seize the role of martyr. ships that are about to be blown to smithereens would even it out simply by ramming their opposition. also, it would make capital ship maneuvers more dangerous as ship collisions would be possible. imagine, your kol battleship trying to sweep in to flank an enemy formation, but the dinky durzon/durzo(sp?) support cruiser
moons, planetary rings, gas giants = fun and cool. moons could be used as massive defense stations, projecting shields...a la 'the forest moon of Endor!'
...i think there should be unit caps proportional to the population and empire has.
i use that mode and i don't like it.
i hope custom maps will ultimately allow for more independent design. the current version is weak because it gives you a minimum of 20 planets...i want to be able to have a minimum of 1 per faction! also, there should be a map editor, either in game or a separate component to the game, where the player can make maps. i.e. position planets, link them with phased jump lanes, and select what types of planets. i'd love to see a more complex map. planets with mo
