Actually, no.Competitive players have specific needs for a game. They need it to move relatively quickly so they can achieve and hold a rank in a reasonable length of time. Balancing the game strictly for a fast, competitive, online style of play would tend to harm those who prefer a more relaxed, multi-session offline style of play, perhaps against numerous opponents, perhaps with multiple star systems. It may be the same game, but it is not played the same way by people who prefer to pla

1. This has been an issue for lots of people, me included. The response has been that they're working on a better system for it. I really hope it's soon as it's such a big part of a game like this to be put back for long. Major concerns of a game has to be fixed soon, or else people will quit playing it. 2. A very good point indeed. I basically post this so that it won't disappear deep down below all other active topics.
Hi guysI've been trying the demo and I kinda like it so far.But there is one thing I have been thinking about. Is this game strong in multiplayer like many normal RTS's are?? Or does the focus really lie most at the singeplayer of this game?I hope for the former
To be honest, the single-player part of the game is just the same gameplay as Online, except you're playing versus computers. The most prompt way to handle the game's balance would be to listen to what th
I know, and I still don't think it qualifies for a research. "General Hammond, we need to add more ships to our fleets, but we don't know how to do it!" - "A serious concern indeed, I'll notify the research division heads about this. Hopefully they can figure out why we can't just build more ships."
I'm sure they spent most of their time in the space barn, tending those pink space ponies.
Oh, just turn up your game speed.
Haha Craig, You really just ignored the Original Poster's concern and went for a sub-discussion. Shame on you. :P
For the record, have you tried installing it with your Anti-virus turned off? What anti-virus are you using? Some anti-viruses can mess up installations, I know this for a fact. The game works on Vista, no problem there. I am running Vista 64 and it's no problem at all. Have you scanned your harddrive for faults? It may be a concern of this happens to you often and with different files. Another concern might be if you are trying to Fort Knox your computer too much.
I can't believe this discussion is still going on. Let's just make it simple, and call it a game. It's a game, in space.
If anything I'd sooner complain about why we have to research how to place more structures in space when there's clearly enough room already. Why we have to research how to handle more ships when in fact all we need is a proper command structure. In fact, I'd sooner have this linked to the amount of planets and inhabitants of those planets decide this. Why we still get to nuke the population to ZERO when in fact it was only supposed to be the government infrastructure that was
Interesting idea :) Go deeper, sons! Deeper.
I'm just calling it a Stretegy game myself. I think that fits best to what I feel it is. In fact, a slower paced Strategy game. If I'd gone into the game knowing this I think my initial reaction would have been totally more positive than it was.
Personally, I felt a bit mislead. It's not the game it was advertised to be. However, that being said it's not a bad game anyway, once you get over it's not what you thought it would be. When I want to play it slower, I play [link="http://www.polluxgamelabs.com/lostempire/"]Lost Empire: Immortals[/link]. When I want to play it faster, I go play [link="http://www.moonpod.com/English/about_ss.php"]Starscape[/link] (Yes, I love Indie games). When I want to have a more easy going g
I've no idea why it keeps logging me in as Wintermist :P Althought it's me, but hey... Go Lasagna!
I totally want a campaign too. Those who doesn't want one doesn't have to play it, simple as that. I got bored with the game quite fast to be honest. I played it a few times and uninstalled it. After a few patches it might be worth installing again so hopefully it will be money well spent in the end. Until then ...
Quick diplomacy fix: make everyone start as neutral instead of shoot on sight. This would make the current diplomacy system useable atleast. You would have to declare war before your ships start shooting others down. Be sure the AI doesn't exploit it too.
IF there was an incentive to actually zoom in and watch a fight, I think I would. I'm sorry to drag Homeworld into this again, it's horribly over-used now, but there, watching a battle was totally wicked! Turrets tracking and so on, it was action!
Oh, I thought you was making a sarcastic comment. Yes, you can in fact lock the teams before you start the game. This suggestion is for a FFA game though. The diplomacy options/system in the game is currently rather pointless. But I'm sure they'll eventually, or rather soon even, get to fixing all the quirks so don't let it put you off buying it.
Yes I can, but that's not as fun. Can you dig?
An idea is that everyone start neutral to eachother and you have to specifically declare war on someone before your ships attack another factions ships. Diplomacy is hopeless as the one you intend to make an alliance with somehow always gets in the way, with a ship shot down and diplomacy rate lowers thus making any progress insanely hard. Diplomacy with factions of the same race should start with a small bonus from the start. Until you actually meet with another facti
Designer knows all.
Doesn't anyone remember the joy that was Homeworld's single player campaign? It was beautiful - it gave the game so much depth to actually play as the Hiigarans and experience their struggle. Homeworld on its own would have been so stale - just ships in space, with resources. Playing that campaign (even only once) was well worth it. It was like reading a good novel - you read the novel once, but the characters and their experiences stick with you. It even coloured the
Holy crap, if you don't like a single player campaign, just don't play it. There are loads of us who want a single player campaign, don't come and tell us what we want and do not want, it's not a voting contest. The guy is just wanting to make sure the developers will be doing a campaign at some point. He obviously didn't know that there will be, as an expansion, which for that matter will not be free. Yes, once they add scripting to the game, we can expect some campaign mods.
One of the main and most disturbing fact about this is that the AI uses this tactic all the time, which in effect renders it with not having a tactic. It might as well have been written in the manual that the computer will spam Siege Frigates at you, and how to counter it. It's variety and adaptability that shows tactic. Good change. See what it does before ripping your hair off.
