Well I think what they did was make the game engine run really really well. Next we just need to bug them (The Developers) After all the Nerf crys and O'No's get done. . One thing Im going to change is the balance. . . And this game looks ripe for a storytellers fun time in space. I was really looking forward to having ingame scripts. . . But We can always bug(nag, pester, annoy, bother) them to put it in. . I grasped w

I would just like to note that making frigates have half health\shields AND half weapon damage, would make absolutely no difference in battle length when frigates are fighting frigates (which is a lot of the time), similarly for cruisers, though cap ships would be significantly more powerful. for "faster kills" you should just drop the health/shields I rarely fight frigate to frigate for a very long part of the game, and with the increased power coming

One can only hope. I just learned, opposite of what I was made to think, that there's no scripting in the game. This put me off the whole idea, to be honest. But thanks for the consideration, mate. Until we can mod some life into the game, I can't see me playing more of it.

Makes me wonder why it took so long to produce the game in the first place. There's no single-player campaign. There's no scripting in it. It's basically an engine where you can move your ships around in small areas linked together. Ships shoot at eachother. 15 arch-type ships with cosmetic differences and minor differences. It all comes down to moving a group of them into another group of an enemy and let them battle it out. Research changes a couple of values of these ships and planets. <img

Hi all modders, I'm not skilled in modding myself so I'm asking someone who is to make the following mod: I would like Frigates to have half their HP/shields and do half the damage they do now. I would like Cruisers to have 2/3 of their HP/shields and do 2/3 of their damage. Capital ships should be able to be left alone before testing the actual mod. You may ask why I want this? Battles take too much time and I really want to get the feeling

Just mentioning something I picked up on regarding research. Even though there is military and civilian research centers they all share the same queue. Basically that implied the civilian research centers are rolling their thumbs while the military counterparts are doing their thing. Why can't they work independantly of eachother, meaning they can research military and civilian upgrades simultaneously.

The major difference lies in the abilities the Capital ships have, and the research that can be done. But even with that, the game feels the same no matter what race I pick. I do foresee some really cool mods though, possibly even campaigns. Since there are modding tools available and a creative fan base around there's no end to what fun we can have with the game engine. Even though the vanilla game was rather dull the actual game engine is quite fantastic! No doubt we will see

Just a small point, most ships in Homeworld didn't move either, they did however place themselves in the optimal firing position. What made the game seem like they was moving is that the enemies dies faster, and that you targetted hard-points on the ships making your own ships move to optimal firing position all the time.

I agree the game is slow. There's not enough micromanaging for my taste to pass the time. Ships can take too much punishment making every battle last much longer than it has to do. On top of that I really dislike there's no single-player campaign. The small missions they offer are just silly, and can not be called anything close to a campaign. I'm disappointed I paid for a skirmish and multiplayer game only. I'm also disappointed the ship follow the same archtype across all rac

All there is to do is wait and see what the players here will say once they got the game. You don't have to buy the game ASAP. I think we have raised many concerns here and they have been acknowledged. And if the out-of-box game isn't all that when it comes to AI, perhaps a future patch will rememdy that. I remember when I pre-ordered X3 - Reunion, I got it after it was released in the stores. And the game itself wasn't playable at all for months. But now it's awesome.

But there could be a serious tactical advantage to place orbitals OVER or UNDEr the planet as it would take longer for enemies to reach them and you could deal with more of them before they even reach it.

Admiral Hallsy here! Or whatever the guys actual name was. Man Conquest: Frontier Wars was KICK ASS! I would play it still if they could port it to higher resolution and redo the models so they fit the higher resolution. That game was superawesome! I loved the admirals. Yeah I am currently playing through it, and I can use 1280x1024. It works perfect. You can edit the ini file to allow windows resolutions and

When we're at it a normal earth-like planet holds about 6 billion people. Atleast that's what I remember from school, ages ago so I might be mistaken. Given it's the future, population should be even higher than that.

I happen to think it's a valid question and if you are really bothered about people asking things you are not interested in then perhaps it's time you took a break from forums for a couple of days. I get the feeling you wouldn't be bothered if they would have named the different races Race 1, Race 2 and Race 3. As far as I'm concerned this is a slow paced game and there's more than enough time to read what the info-boxes say. To me that's all part of the game.

I once commented on the fact that all factions in Sins nuke the population and got the reply they only bombard government buildings. BUT, in the game it does say population and it does get totally annihilated every time you take over a planet. It doesn't matter if you tell me in this forum that it's not really the population that gets wiped if the game still say otherwise. What I am wondering is, has the game been updated to clarify this in-game?

Hmm, I didn't know this. I'm going to be seriously disappointed if there's no serious single-player storyline to follow. I didn't like the Galactic Civilizations way of doing the story. Same thing with Sword of the Stars. It's fun for a skirmish every now and then but nothing beats a proper campaign.

well seeing as the game is coming out in 3 weeks, i doubt that ANYTHING that isn't alreadyin won't be in now. Indeed. That's why I also wrote it could be added in a mod or a patch. I'm not skilled in modding so I don't know how hard that would be to do.

You're blatantly missing the whole point of the idea, which is to add some extra fun and personality to the gameplay. Of course there's a chain of command on each ship, but there's always someone with a higher rank who oversee the battle on a larger scale and coordinates the battle. Secondly it's not fair to judge the current AI as we're still playing a BETA and most likely any issue with the AI is already fixed to a satisfying level.

I remembered the old game Conquest Frontier Wars and in particular the use of commanders in that game. You can recruit a certain number of commanders and when they die they are lost forever. Imagine you have a group of units grouped together and when they go into battle their fire will be unfocused, not picking their targets optimally. In comes the commander, when you add him to a group he will take station in the strongest ship, making a military flagship of it (by title). The
