My initial feedback after playing a couple of quick half-games as the Feds: 1: Everything looks and sounds outstanding! (Though I agree that it does sound a lot like "all hands on sanctions.") Wonderful work, guys. 2: I agree that battles are too quick - though in my personal opinon, far too quick. A small fleet of an Excelsior, a Miranda, and a Constellation were able to destroy nearly any Klingon ship (except a cap) that jumped into their system in about five seconds. While

I wonder if the Entrenchment mines will let you pull off the cloak the way you want. I haven't actually tried them yet, but they appear to be invisible to most ships (except scouts). If that could be applied to a ship in a toggleable ability, it might be what you're looking for.
more rather, the klingons lack of creativity. Cannonically, the klingons seldom made changes in hull design. This isn't even a retcon so don't try to write it off as one, it was establihed before then.
Well, if you consider that the Bird of Prey's lifespan is identical to that of the Excelsior (they both showed up for the first time in STIII) and that the Vor'Cha and Negh'Var were both introduced in the TNG era, no, I wouldn't

Wow, all excellent work! It's such a shame, though, that the Romulans have such a limited canonical fleet lineup for the next-gen era - they don't even have any kitbash designs of the Warbird, which one would think would be fairly easy to do some cool stuff with. Hell, they never even did the lazy and obvious single-hull varient. I guess they figured that the D'Deridex is so distinctive and awesome looking that they never needed anything else, but still.

It's brutal out there right now! But I don't intend to let you go without Entrenchment, so I hereby pledge $3 to the Buy Major Stress Entrenchment fund. Anyone else want to kick in a buck or two to reward Stress for all his hard work?

Hm, I guess I see things a little differently. Klingons: high speed, low shields, high weapons The BoP and Vor'Cha always seemed to be built for speed. They're got almost all forward-facing weaponry, so they have to be manuverable to make use of it. And they never seem to take that much abuse. Feds: moderate speed (at sublight), high shields, low weapons With the exception of "hero" ships like Voyager and the Defiant, most Federation ships seem to be unab

Amazing, as always! I'm having a blast. One observation for balancing: combat might be a little too fast. I have trouble getting a damaged elite ship out of even small engagements before it's destroyed, and I found my fleet of maybe eight or nine ships was able to destroy an enemy capital ship frighteningly quickly. I think I'd tone down the weapon power a little - maybe make them this effective when they've had the full 30% tech upgrades, but start them off a little weaker. Particula

A nitpicky suggestion: I notice the B'rel's disruptor cannons are set to alternate firing. I don't know if a BoP has ever been shown firing that way - every clip I could remember or find had them firing their cannons linked, usually in bursts of three. I tried this out and it looks pretty good, but in groups it starts to look messy. I think it would be a little better if the size of the disruptor pulses were reduced by about 25%.

She was not seen participating in any of the fighting.
The only reason I know this is that I'm in the midst of re-watching DS9, but in the episode Waltz, Gul Dukat is being transported to trial aboard a Nebula class ship, the Honshu, which was attacked and destroyed by Cardassian ships. So that does count as seeing action in the war. 'Cours

So is the Vor'Cha supposed to cost 200 credits, 400 metal, and 170 crystal, or did you leave a zero off of that credit cost? [e digicons]o_O[/e] The AI spams the hell out of them. Also, I suggest reducing the duration of beams to, at the very most, 1.5. Those 4-second Cardassian disruptors are kind of visually dull, and not at all in keeping with the canon. If you watch the battle scenes in Sacrifice of Angels, most phaser beams last less than a second. I toned them all down

Saucer seperation was also used to that effect in the first-season episode Arsenal of Freedom, when LaForge seperated the ship to keep the civilians safe and took the stardrive section into battle. The only time the saucer was used in combat was in Best of Both Worlds when it was used as a diversion. So yeah, kinda sorta pointless in a game.
