Yeah, the Klingons and the Feds are the powerhouses right now. I tried to play a game as the poor Cardassians, and now I know why the war between the Klingons and Cardassians in season 4 of DS9 only lasted a few days! Those guys need a boost to their rate of fire, if nothing else.

Nope, I downloaded it fine on Vista 64 last night, and if it works on 64, it will almost certainly work fine on 32.
One day I will run my own forum, and in order to create an account will first have to pass a reading comprehension test.
Ah, that worked. Thanks! What's that Ship Mesh Highlight Filter thing supposed to do, anyway?
I'm having a similar problem with the brightly lit Galaxy. Here's a screenshot of the Elite Galaxy (dark) next to the non-elite - this issue also affects the Akira elite vs non-elite, and all of the Fed ships appear pretty bright. I'm using Vista 64 on a GTX280, if that helps you pin anything down. I also tried disabling bloom lighting, but that didn't solve the problem. Oh hell yes. Hell yes. I just watched Call to Arms (DS9 season 5 finale) and I'm hankerin' for some Trek battles! Thanks again, Stress, and all your backup dancers at Trekmods and DU.
Awesome - that's really generous of you Stress. Thanks for all the effort, looking forward to trying it out.
Awesome, I'll be reliving the glory days of Star Trek modding in no time. Fantastic work on the Galaxy, too - I've been waiting a long time to see some screens of that baby in-game (honestly I'm surprised it took so long!).
Actually, on the topic of SoA 1, where can I download that anymore? Googling has proved fruitless, and I just reinstalled Homeworld 1.
Yeah, that's pretty much the first single-hull adaptation of the Romulan Warbird I've ever seen that doesn't look like crap. Could do without the tail, though... kind of overdoes the bird thing, I think. It's kind of ridiculous to try to create a 2D map of 3D space. Hell, on that map the two Federation chunks could be connected by a corridor underneath that Klingon piece. But considering that this map doesn't even have a Klingon/Cardassian boarder, and gives the Breen 2x the territory
The Defiant is, at most, a really heavy cruiser that falls just short of a capital ship. It just isn't big enough to be called a capital ship, nor does it have capital ship HP/SP.
Your point being? If you put a non-capital ship in a capital ship slot the game will not crash, and your family will not die. The result would be a limited number of Defiant-class ships on the map.
Looks amazing! Keep up the good work.
Looks fantastic! I'd suggest trashing them a little more thoroughly, though - blow off a warp engine or something - so that they're not easily mistaken for functional ships in combat. Also, do they always do this, or do they sometimes vaporize?
Love the Centaur. Awesome!
It actually worries me a little that there are that many torpedoes flying around. While it's technically accurate according to the ship's specs, I fear it will look cluttered in practice. Have you considered giving the Akira a torpedo burst special ability with a moderately long recharge time? That might keep the number of torpedoes on screen at a time from reaching crazy levels.
nice pics, thanks for increased teasers, though i think the romulan BOP is a little big.
Nope. The Warbird really is that big - though the big hollow area between the wings means it's not that much bigger than a Galaxy class, mass-wise.
The lack of shield effects was sort of explained by the modifications they made to block the Jem'Hadar poloron beams, though it was probably more like something they did because a battle scene with a bunch of explosions instead shield flares looked cooler. Generally, they made a lot of compromises to have compelling battle scenes (such as ships exploding in one shot, though you could explain that away by saying that they could have taken damage off-screen) but most of the things you mention are
My god... you've found a place on Earth that has no Starbucks within 25 miles? I didn't think such a place existed. PS - awesome ships. Just need the Galaxy and we'll have 1701-B through E! And hey, at least if they can't do aft phasers, it will give the ships a reason to maneuver slightly in combat. If they can fire 360 degrees, they'd never move at all unless they have to close to firing range!
when will this mod come out?
...you didn't read the first post in the thread, did you? Is that too much to ask? I mean, not reading through all 17 pages of the thread I can understand, but the very first one? C'mon.
Wrong. Phail. There still in production. Go look under modding or use the search button.
I misread, I thought he was talking about a Star Wars VS Star Trek mod (thus the part about combining them). I actually went back and tried to edit in links to both projects, and it looked like it had worked, but the forums, they tricked me!
Short answer: don't hold your breath. Long answer: No one's making one, though once the Star Trek and Star Wars mods come out it will only be a matter of time before someone combines them. There's no ETA on either of those projects, though.
It's not about the technical authenticity, it's about the aesthetics. I like the game to look as much like the show as possible, and phaser beams that last two to four times as long throws that off. Besides, when you've got a dozen ships all firing at once, it's ugly to just have a line connecting them to their targets half of the time.
Glorious! Love the torpedo effects too. What's your next project? That Galaxy/Nebula pack you were talking about? Edit to avoid double post: So I'm now tweaking the Excelsior to make it a little more cinematic, and I've run into a slight complication. What I'm trying to do is to replace one of the torpedo weapons with a second phaser that fires three 0.3-second bursts alongside the more powerful phaser that fires in longer, one-second bursts in order to reflect the varying phas
Out of curiosity, did Blair and the team track down the issue with the Black Ship Syndrome?
