Yaarr, I do think Capitol ships need a bit more personality I'm not sure how that would work though. At level 10 some of them can be utter beasts, but they're still pretty easy to take out. I think they should be given a bit more power in certain aspects, made more expensive and costly to build - And I do think you should only be able to have one of each type.

Add 3 d movement "a la homeworld" That's been in the game since beta 1--just press the ~ key while setting a move order, same as Shift-moving in homeworld. Why... I'm I only finding out about this now?! Are you utterly sure that actually works?

Capitol ships aren't that expensive, and resources are easy to get late-game you can pump out a ton with little effort I simply choose not to as I find it silly, so I try to stick with 3 capitol ships only in each fleet and I use the others to defend planets from pirates. Why should they be effective at taking out bombers? They're great at everything else, why should they be so versatile? EVERYTHING - needs a weak spot, you said it yourself it takes forever for them to die to bombers, w

Still an entire empire based on trade isn't going to stop it over night, majority of those planets most likley rely on trade routes, and if they where shut down the economy could collapse within days. Do also remember space is Huge - Absoloutly massive, It's a safe bet that if a craft avoids the main routes and keep on friendly turf they'll be perfectly safe.

I dislike mines - They luckly haven't been included in most RTS Games due to how they slow the flow of the game down, it's just an annoyance to attackers and makes assaults slow cumbersome tasks rather than raging battles. I like strategy and tactics, but I don't want to feel crippled and unable to move or I simply won't want to attack, considering the gravewells size being pretty small that would make it pretty annoying as there's little room to actually move a large fleet. I

To be honest it's not that "ridiculous" - This is a beta and they're testing what works and what dosn't , it's not really supposed to be that fun right now. The pirates are stoppable - Just make sure you don't grab a planet close to the sun too quickly, put your enemies at a higher bounty than they've put on you and make sure you build up a defense force quickly. A capitol ship and a few other ships combined with defense platforms are usually enough to easily hold out against t

2 Versus 2 can take forever, if everyones at about the same level and managed to get 20 or so shield generators over there base with anti-nook defenses everywhere (= I remember this one map has a river between , it so I had to use transports to get my troops across - They had killed my ally and I'd nuked his and damaged his base dramaticly. Only problem is they both had FLEETS upon

The reason I stopped playing Supreme commander is because To play the game properly without rushing or using cheap tactics, it takes about 3 - 4 hours to fully kill an enemy on a big map. It's not fun having to spend that time in multiplayer, and knowing you can't just save and come back later. I'm going to bet you 100 percent, against a smart enemy the maps we're playing now would take 10 x aslong, it's just as we can easily trample the AI systems can be taken easily but agai

Sub systems really is a fantastic Idea, I don't know if it would work in a game like this ... heck maybe only for capitol ships? I think they'd consider it too micro-intensive and it could lag out the engine. I'm still huge fan of positional damage though - If I'm at the rear of your ship, blasting lasers into your engines it should do more damage than if I was shooting your front hull.

Mm, I don't think trying to make the game faster by actually reducing the games... strategical elements is a good idea, I really enjoy building up my empire and expanding - starting from one planet and then colonizing countless worlds. But you are completetly right multiplayer simply can't work if it takes 6 hours to do, Saving mid-game then trying to find the same person again to play with is almost impossible. Increasing fleet size wouldn't work iether as it's very easy to b

I actually do love this idea, I'm not sure how indepth they could go but I could honestly imagine some system like it being possibly implanted though I doubt it'll be to the level of where you can pick their religion etc. I'd definatly like the ability to alter how my planets grow, and get a bit more indepth with the economy / trade etc.

@Charon: Games like WOW have producers who honestly don't care and just want to make money, This is StarDock, and they care about they're fan-base Not actually talking about wow but close enough! I'm willing to believe it, though of course they care alot about money - any game producer wants to be succesful

While the problem with little no macro is it makes the game simply too .. well simple if it's going to be on a real-time scale. Rather than about clicking, it becomes about who can pump more into one area at once while praying to the gaming gods they'll win. I don't want to lose simply because my enemy has a planet extra, and can produce more units than me. Or that he colony rushed early on so gained more resources, when I decided to go for a slower approach and build up my e

My comments where mostly in jest, I have a bad sense of humour but from experience in other games I can find it best if the devs stick to their own ideas, and merly get inspired by the community and listen to what they like, what they don't like rather than turning what's posted into direct content. A few mmo's have been kinda ruined due to the constant changing opinions of the vocal forum majority, who are in fact - the minority of those who are playing the game. The games goi

Pshh you don't believe everything they tell you now? Seriously though - Things like that our much like release dates, forever changing. I've been following faaar too many mmo's to expect devs to pay that close attention to the community. Actually I've been with too many communitys to think the community has that worthwhile infomation for the devs to listen to (= While this isn't a mmo, I e

To be blunt - The devs have no obligations to listen to our replies, or even tell us what they're considering it be nice if they would, but I don't expect such things. What we say on the forums aren't going to be ingame, But we can inspire discussion, or put an idea in there heads and give our own opinions on balance issues etc which can aid them in making their minds up. It dosn't take hours to write a post, it takes 5 minutes or .. 10 , maybe even 20 if you put a darn lot o

Meh I would enjoy more of an indepth planet system myself, I remember in haegemonia where you'd get "special" characters which you could assign to planets, It made you feel more connected to the game. If you say - Started out with a few "special" Characters, Say 2 governers and yourself. The skilled governers could increase tax income on the planet, and help spread culture etc while you could postion yourself on the flagship / capitol ship of your fleet and get some odd bonus

Which is why I'm asking, where's it off? have we been told? Is it mentioned anywhere? Isn't this the GAMEPLAY feedback section? I didn't even mention fun. Also, free-riders? Haven't we all payed for this? Don't get me wrong my post wasn't directly towards you, Yar just kinda inspired me to write something which I've encountered in alot of free-beta's. We did indeed pre-order the game , but th

I seriously suspect it's already been planned and will be in at release, but as it's beta it seems to be more focused on getting the right balance between logistics and such .

That image dosn't really show us anything atall, apart from a few purple planets. I'm not exactly sure what triggers continous fleets of pirates to attack, I know I had a planet right opposite of the sun and I'd get continous waves of 30+ fleets assaulting my planet over and over again every 10 or so minutes. I killed them everytime but It wasn't very smart or piratey of them.
