UPDATE: It's Working! I uninstalled again. And this time noticed that there was a Sins directory still on the drive. I deleted that. I also checked the registry for any Sins entries. Made sure they were all gone. Started Stardock, redownloaded the 1.3 version, it installed and wahlah. Back to gaming. Not sure if a fix for the runtime error was included or this was supposed to be self correcting with the new version, but it works now. Thanks!

This is the same error I get. Mentioned it here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/?forumid=408&aid=175495 Running XP. Any help would certainly be appreciated.

Any progress on this issue? Has anyone had any luck trying anything else? Is there anything I can do from this end? Anyone . . . anyone . . . . Bueller?

I should probably say that I am running this on an XP machine with an ATI card. The 1300 I believe. The BETA has run flawlessly on it. This only just occurred after updating to the latest released version. I'd be more than happy to provide a DXDiag report or whatever else is needed to help track this down.

Thanks. I wish there were some log generated that I could capture and send in. I appreciate the response.

Is there nothing I can do for this? Where else can I post to get help? Do I have to edit the registry to get this to work? I am at a loss here.

Same error here. C++ Runtime error. Just got the game in the box. Had the BETA running for a long time. BETA experience taught me that I must uninstall and then reinstall. I did that, twice now, and I still get black screen hang, and then if I ALT-TAB after about 5 minutes I can see there is a "C++ Runtime error, must shut down" message. Any help for this?

Thanks Ron, All I did was go to Stardock and do an update. Before I uninstall and reinstall I will the Vasari again. I will take a screen shot and post what I see. Thanks!

I did a quick search using the search, and I combed the most recent posts. My apologies if I didn't see this already posted. I can only see units in my Home planet gravity well. As soon as they phase to another planet, asteroid, etc I can't see them. I have a screen shot. The asteroid is selected, I am zoomed in and I cannot see icons when zoomed out or ships when zoomed in. When I do a large draw cursor select, the units respond as if I've selected them but I cannot s
It should be checked by default! i disagree on that. It was discussed back in beta 2 and most didnt seem to like it. Why do you think its better? personally i find the defaut easier to work with as you always have control over your empire where ever your view is.
I like the default better too, but maybe I need more time with the selection bar. I tend to juggle several fronts at the same time so being able to see more than the c

Was just thinking that a small patrol fleet would be a nice thing. Give a fleet two or more points to patrol. Is there a good reason for patrolling? Not sure. Just leaving a cobalt to sit in one place (at the sun) seems like a waste, but then, it does let me know if anyone has phased in. Is patrolling part of the design. I searched on patrol and only found this and one other topic on it.

"You can agree with me or be wrong." "God didn't make Rambo. I did!" "He's trained to eat things that make a billy-goat puke." "I am here to chew bubble gum and kick a$$, and I am all out of bubble gum." Mitch: [at the funeral] So, Grandpa, how come you didn't come to the church? Vince: God makes me nervous when you get him indoors - besides, I don't like to see people in their coffins. They always look so much smaller without their spirits. <br/

Some questions: Is there any indication of a probe launch? Graphical, audible? I've selected this tech tree update several times and I am not sure I've seen it working. If I have my scout on auto roam will it not deploy these probes? If I have the probe ability on auto does the auto roam ability override the auto probe launch? I would naturally want my scout ship to leave a probe in every system it could as long as it was not in danger.

I like the idea of Pirates stealing techs from players. Would make them more of a threat. Right now they are pretty easy to mitigate. But maybe more is in store with them later on.

Formation of new ships. I know someone else stated this. When queuing up a bunch of new builds, the new ships will go to the rally flag and stack there. When zoomed out I can't tell what ships are there. And if I select them all (with a cursor collection box) they are not displayed anywhere (that I know of) to select the one ship I need at the moment (colony, scout, etc.). Then again, maybe part of the game play is to have to zoom in and see what I ordered. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/g

Not sure if already stated. Not sure if game play or technical. The empire tree on the left. Currently when my mouse is over the tree the main game window will not zoom in or out. Good. But the tree will also not scroll up or down (like in a web browser). In larger scale games I have to close detailed (open directory) views and then drag the scroll box or click the up and down arrow to move the trees. In addition, would it be possible to move grouped fleets off the left side.

I agree with all the likes here. And will reiterate the ones that just knocked me over upon playing (and replaying): The graphics and UI - award winning. Game scale - both graphically and play Zoom to cursor! The empire management tree on the left - genius. Specialized ships. Venteran ships/crews. All the attention to detail. Really shows the love of labor, that extra mile (hours) put in to get something just right. And outside of playing . . .<br/

UI request. Currently when I click on a factory the rally indicator doesn't display until I hit the rally icon. I normally set the rally icon to a different part of the gravity well. Sometimes I will have the rally flag at another planet or two away. so currently, when clicking the factory I cannot see where the rally flag is until I actually hit the icon. A little bit of a time waster. And if I have the rally flag a planet or two away, I have to remember where I set it. <b

SE-Weed: You shouldn't have to adjust your play style or center your zoom target, that would defeat the purpose of ZTC ! When you say that you kept going past your intended zoom target, could you give me a few more details? Like - your intended target (I assume a ship)? Was the intended target in mesh or icon mode?

SE-Weed: My wheel setting in windows is also 3 lines to the click, so there must be something else going on. I think 3 lines is the default setting in Windows, but on my system when I changed it to 1 line, the zoom occurred a lot smoother. When the setting was on 3 lines, I would constantly go past my intended zoom target (usually ships and structures). The planets seemed big enough to "lock on". I tend not to center my intended zoom target when zooming,

The first thing I noticed when zooming in was that I didn't seem to have a good control of depth - how far and fast the zoom worked. It would constantly zoom past a ship I wanted to see up close. I checked my mouse wheel settings in the control panel and saw that it was set to skip 3 lines with every click of the wheel. I changed it to 1, and now I have better control of my zoom to cursor. If you find your mouse wheel zoom speeding you past your objective, check this setting. I
