Same Engine yes, but the devs are reworking it within certain parameters (aka no 64-bit, multi-core support, etc). Already there are some excellent improvements and I am sure more are to follow.
that sounds great, im sure theyre aware of the issues peopel are having and wil do their best do tweak the engine then. "(aka no 64-bit," no 64-bit ? that doesnt sound like an improvement, or am i missing the poi

this is going to be standalone? sure an hoping for a rework on.. well.. everything me & buds stopped playing sins cuase it was just unplayable in later stages (2 hour games + cuasing -5x time "1 hour gametime = 5 hours") verycurious what wil become of this, wil most definatly pre-order just to participate in beta.... but i simply must know if the same engine will be used? sorry for... dual.. post>.> out of frustration i went searching for other optiosn and found something about win7 and sins using up to much memory to put it fast, for me, the game crashed to desktop becuase it ran out of memory the limit being somewhere aroudn 1800MB this basicly happens becuase sins is a 32-bit application and the limit on 64-bit OS's is bigger, which can cause problems there is a tool that can increase the max memory useage of
oh that looks bad alright :P looking at the ruf edges, i'd say its an anti aliasing problem there should be an "Video" tab, with Anti Aliasing settings, try all of the settings, see if the problem persists im not so familiar with GPU models, i take it your talking about the NVidia Geforce GTX 480? are the drivers up-to-date? ( http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us ) does
were you playing it on win7, xp 32- or 64- bit? how long into the game did it give a minidump reinstalling sometimes helps to get wrid of minidump errors. cannot give much more advice, need more information about your PC and how/when the problem occurs
Diplomacy seems to always crash around the 30,40 min gametimer ive noticed that the crash barely happens (it does happen occasionally) on Entrenchment ive finished an entrenchment game just now, ive got 1 crash very late game but after a reload it never happened again. i dont know if this is ram-related, the game used to minidump when reaching 2 gb+ ram, but now it does nothing of the sort, it just crashes to desktop, no minidump
same issue game crashes to desktop with no minidump keep having to rehost with saves, first it takes about 20 min to occur, but then we have to rehost every 5 min or so its unplayable tried everything from compatibility mode to lowering graphics to the absolute minimum i even adjusted some Catalyst settings, so it would not force any settings i recently tried Distant Stars mod, same thing there Win 7 64Bit Intel i5 Quad Co
the community of sins is pretty much dead, not counting the few people on the forums since it;s release sins has pretty much been a horrible mp game, one bug after another, and fierce competition about it, people create smurf accounts to be able to play, mostly cuase some dont want them for using the bugs new people especially have a hard time as people dont want to play with them cuase they could easily be a smurf, this is
afaik income is a multiplier of tradeports on a trade-chain (planets with a tradeport next to eachother using the shortest travel-time possible the longer the chain, the more income you get, i dont think it's related to tradeships dropping of goods (if would be related to tradeships dropping of goods, then it would drop of depending on flight time or jumps, and a steady income would become buggy and unreliable.) tradeships that get destroyed do give the empire des
ah.. late reply... 6 months..... cough* havent played in such a long time >. .> yes it's very strange indeed, i was going to play with a friend one day and he asked me to host, wanted to show him that i couldnt.. but there i saw his name joining my public game, and then a second random person joined..... imagine my face ;) still no idea what the problem was.. happy its gone but... well... no idea.. what it was :/ </p
same as myfist, i usually play with friendsonly, occasional game i do play on mp. though i regret spending time on them 90% of the time as in most of mp games, stuff grinds to a halt when midgame starts (sometimes even sooner), people either fortify themselves as advent with scoutspam, carriers and SB's, or using units wich they know are OP, trying to snipe your capship, usually failing and then prolonging the game as long as they can until they
for 10$, why not i guess compared to supreme commander, the game is a big fail. its been dumbed down to a kids level (wich isnt all that bad, but kills the reason what made supcom 1 so good) if interested i reccomend on dling the demo, to see what its like.
Quoting OMG_Teseer, reply 17 If they called it 'Generic Strategy Game 2' I would of had no issues with it and probably
one of the reasons why the gaming community on this game is so small is becuase most of the active players are jerks ive been with sins since the day it was released, and from day 1, people were scaring new guys away with foul language and games where only "good" players are allowed i stopped playing with the online community, there's simply not enough people that are serious about having a fun game.... however, 2 of my best online
are you familiar with a program called Hamachi? basicly it allows u to play games over the internet via the games LAN-option (direct-connet, everyone that wants to play needs to have hamachi) only reccomendable for friend-matches also not sure if it works with Sins, i have never tried it on sins itself, as ICO has been good to me lately if your having router issues there are some topi
having no problems with clans, every now and then u see some poor clan dudes trying to make a 2v2, but it's easy to recognise them and u can just laugh and host ure own game, 75% of the time they'll even join yours =) i do agree that PUG mathces seem to be manipulated sometimes, i.e. pickers are not random, always seem to be the same guys, and the same guys are on the same team most of the time (whenever i pl
gg as in "dude.. now i feel like an easy AI ;)" or the one i prefer "u got me sweating for that win m8" used to have alot of gg's, but im meeting more and more people that leave prematurely and/or seem to do everything in their power to make u have a horrible time playing ah.. the good times [e digicons]:'([/e]
problem with keeping track of smurfs, if they really want to be in your game they can make a new random name account, i really do not see a point in trying to keep track =)?
(sry for LATE reply.. >. >) issue has been solved, althoguh im not sure why... :P
I would give you karma, but i just spend my last one on a cooky
just as i got diplomacy and heard the awesome piece of music in the main menu, it reminded me of the BETA of sins vanilla (im sure i've heard it before there) and made me look for the audio file, in search of that audio file in the sound folder i've also found some other audio effects and very nice themes that i've never heard before in-game, an example being the file "tec opening.ogg" or "tec 4.ogg" i spend many hours/week on Sins, TEC being my fav
"Last fall it was revealed that there would be no third Sins mini-expansions but that something else Sins-related was in the works. Can you give us any hints on these plans?" My lips are sealed.
Hmmm..... Sinister.... "woops double post"
I've lately gotten back to playing sins, but noticed i wasn't able to host, even with Allloy enabled I've recently got a new PC (it DID work on my old PC, but started having trobules the last few weeks, trying it on the new PC got me the same problem... so i posted here :P) Enabled ports 6112 / 6000 UDP + TCP to my new PC Disabled firewall both of these didn't help me (alloy should bypass any annoying router issues.... so maybe there's somethi
i've recently plugged in a new graphics card (Nvidia 7950) i started experiencing some problems when playing games, the game would suddenly hang for about 30 seconds with the sound also crashing after it starts up again the sound is cracking worse then a vasar.... which corrects itself after a few min i only thoguht it to be annoying to wait 30 seconds and have sound screwd up for 5/10 min, but just now playing
my guess is sins is not suited for this type of modding, adding armor values and making the unit change to ideal locations is not something that can easily be done requires some calculations and i dont think sins's engine was meant for that olmost all of the modern games are intentioanly lowering cpu-needs becuase otherwise customers would drop u might have a triple-quad core plugged in, but i certainly dont,
