So has anyone else gotten a response to this? Bump since I still can't play.
To be able to play without this stupid black screen error on launch.
You didn't mouse over the whole UI and read the tooltips before you got started.
It's rather silly that we still need to have this conversation :\ It seems assault frigs are still broken.
No, you need to be fixed. You who doesn't even know how to ignore a person and gets all uptight, demanding others should cater to his social ineptitude is far worse than someone who uses their right to free speech and has the spine to do so without regards for a nobody like you.
I should add that I've only been getting this error since the new patch. And bump, I'd really like to play.
Face it, LRMs are broken, and will remain broken until Ironclad decides to reduce their HP.
I'm also getting the same problem. When I launch I get a black screen for about 10 seconds, then a different shade of black for about a second, then that error.
Xylum, grow a backbone and get over yourself. If everyone got along we wouldn't be where we are today. Ever heard of the altruists' dilemma? Games are a competition, a contest, and there's no point playing them if you can't bask in your victories. Take your hippie political correctness bs elsewhere because all wishing me a "good game" makes me want to do is slit your throat with barbed wire. I'd really rather not counter spams with spams, and often I don't have many ships early-game to attack their planets back. Usually just my capital. What about a good way to defend without spamming? And to everyone here saying there's nothing wrong with spamming: why then do players ALWAYS choose assault frigates over other ships? And why can't a mixed force beat an assault frigate spam when it easily beats every other?
Nevermind, I went into the galaxy files and used the huge random as a template. I thought writing galaxies that way would be a lot harder, which is why I wanted to do it from the galaxy editor, but it was actually pretty easy, so nevermind.
Bump, does no one else want 500+ planet random map?
If you don't want people using stars to travel between systems, just don't connect the star to any planets...
In reply to the original post as of now: Awesome changes, these should be implemented in the main game. However I'm saying this before actually playtesting, so I'll have to do so and give you a balancing review later. Just looking at it though I'd say you know what direction Sins should go.
1: You're playing the wrong game. Sins is more of a real-time 4x game, NOT a twitch RTS ripping off 4x. I can say this with confidence because it's clear the developers have much more experience with turn-based games than RTSs if you look at their past works. Pure 4x games are notorious for taking several sessions of several hours each to complete. Sins is by far the fastest 4x game ever if I can finish a game in a few hours. You're just looking for the wrong game. 2: I pla
What's the default setup for the random maps? I'm trying to make a version of the 4 random maps included with Sins that is INSANELY huge, and I'd like to know what the setups for the current random maps are because just using "random - mix" is resulting in way too many colonizable. Also, why are there doubled entries on some of the lists? "Random - planet" appears twice for example.
Oh suck it up and deal with it you wuss. Sticks and stones. Besides, what's the point of winning if you're not allowed to feel superior?
Don't. And if you have to, anywhere BUT Gamespot and Fileplanet.
Get "Zero Punctuation" to do a review! I don't know how he goes about picking games to review though, and he'll probably tell you to go bugger off. It won't be pretty but it'll get the word out if he does a review on it. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/2808-Zero-Punctuation-Crysis (above link is Zero Punctuation's review of crysis, NSF
So in a fleet of two capital ships, 30-40 assault frigates, a handful of cruisers, and 25-30 LRM launchers, it's completely balanced that I can completely stomp the Advent Drone Carrier spam
Yes, it is completely balanced that a MIXED FORCE would beat a SPAM of any kind. Stop whining and learn to use something other than strikecraft.
Did I say overpowered? Lets see... No I didn't Dreyf I suggest you learn the ability to read.
That's what you get for being a strikewhore. Try using some other frigates once in a while. Flakcraft are not NEARLY as overpowered as assaultcraft (LRMs, Illums, Assails).
Do the tutorials, and just use common sense. You don't need a bachelor's degree in spaceship command to beat the AIs in this game, just work through your strategy logically. Basic life skills are enough to beat the pathetically easy AIs in Sins. Look at your choices, balance short-term (military) vs. long-term (economic) needs, read the ingame documentation on each choice, and make a decision. Experience is the only way you'll actually learn. Other people can train you, they
Stop asking stupid questions like "Should I get this game" on the game's forum (like we're an unbiased audience...) and read about the game and make up your own mind.
