Make the novalith have to orbit a planet to kill it? Eh, I don't know... superweapons are always touch and go.
Forums: Defense is useless. (Patch 1.04) Forums: Offense is useless!
Patch 1.1 Forums: Finally a freakin' balance.
There is a clear trend in multiplayer towards heavy cruiser spam. I see many people completely bypassing the lower upgrades, teching for heavy cruisers... There just have to be alternatives. And that should be the lower military upgrades. ...
Feel free to shoot me down on this one but couldn't it be assumed that much of the lower tech is required to build a heavy cruiser and therefore dependent upon it? Just make the hull/laster/etc pre-requisites... no?<br

They might also include a game option that weighs it more for RTS or more for 4X depending on the players and the style of game... Maybe quicker movement, more damage, faster tech for the RTS setting- and more drawn out research, slower movement, less damage for the 4X game. I also like the idea of several victory conditions. Space Race, Artifact Conquest etc.

You need to login to the router with your web browser... the 2wire I had was 172.16.0.1... but Im not sure what the IP of yours is... Inside there should be an option for firewall and/or port forwarding... From here most web router/firewall interfaces are similar... they'll ask you for what you want to call the service... this is whatever you want to name it... I used "sins". Then most have a port range. Here you want 6112-6112. It will need an IP address to forward the port to, that's

Firstly: The first tutorial is a known bug. I encountered it myself, but figured I could manage moving ships about without a tutorial :) I don't think you're missing a lot from it... The first cap ship is free- so in my experience it's usually worth having one early on. Im somewhat of a newblet myself, but I go for worlds around me and choke points... conservative research and fleet construction. The AI especially loves those siege frigates, so make sure you don't overextend yourself an

Upgrade your planets- unless you've upgraded the civil infrastructure, they're a net drain on the economy. Mouse over the credits count in the top right to get a summary of income and expenditures.

Fill in Application as whatever you want to remember it as. Probably "Sins" or something of the sort. From 6112 to 6112, protocol TCP, IP address [whatever your local IP is]. I also have port 6000 open for TCP, same local IP... not sure if this is needed or not- I've heard yesses and Ive heard nos. Make sure you enable them. If you don't know your local IP: Start menu -> run -> cmd [enter] At the prompt: ipconfig Most of the time it's 192.16
....the point of the empire tree and seamless zoom is to make minimaps obsolete.
Any tips for new players to use the empire tree? Once I get any size of empire or military, it's a loss on me- as it gets so cluttered...?
As for the ships sitting still and firing at each other, these are fairly large ships dont forget.
For the sake of reality I submit the following: http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/images/f000001/f075712.jpg Why it's the IJN's own Hiryu... she seems to be moving at quite a steam... -why- would she do that I WONDER?!

It's realtime and it's strategic... ergo it's a realtime strategy... It's a very complex one that isn't just a click fest- If that's what you *define* an RTS as, then this game is most certainly not an RTS... I've been pleased with it so far, I don't feel gypped- but I was expecting a long game :)

This game was also sold to me under the premise that it took a variety of support ships to be successful- that isn't backed up so well when all that appear from -every- AI are masses of siege frigates... Not trying to start a fight, Im just saying.
just a fyi if the ships did move around in combat it really wouldnt matter to much. most races dont miss
It's entirely cosmetic... the battles do seem a bit dead.
It's not a viable strategy unless the planet is largely undefended and hasn't been built up. They are being nerfed some in the first update though because, as a practical matter, siege ships should be wimpy.
6 orbital guns had the sieges within their field of fire and 4 bomber squadrons with the planet at 6000hp and it was dead before my fleet 2 jumps away got there to help... Might have killed two of the freakin things. The planet was -not- undefended.

It's played in real time, and it's strategy... so by default it's real time strategy... it's just very deep real time strategy. For the record I've never played a game of Starcraft that was under 40 minutes... or really any other RTS for that matter. This game is very deep, apparently very frustrating to the x-mas newb crowd.
