Yeah it takes long time to make 40 skirmnishers, however in that case 15 would do.
I have never even come remotely close to countering carriers with a 1 to 1 ratio of lf. Of course, I'm not the pro player that you are either, so....
Finally - Someone saying the same thing as the "pros". They have done some research and this cannot be discounted with the "but a pro will win any battle regardless since they are a pro" argument....
The rest of us have done research too. I personally did research for weeks and weeks. I even went a couple of straight weeks without building a single carrier, and accumulated many losses on my record because of it, all in the name of doing research. The

I've been trying to counter carriers with LF for God knows how long - always unsuccessfully. I finally had a success. I was vasari, my TEC enemy was predictably spamming carriers. So I started spamming skirmishers in what I thought would be yet another utterly doomed attempt. It took me 40-something skirmishers to counter his 15 TEC carriers - roughly a 3 to 1 ratio. It worked - I killed all of them. A few things: 1) Just as when trying to counter

Do I just have a dirty mind, or does the Advent starbase look like some kind of kinky sex toy? I mean, it looks like a cross between a cock ring and a butt plug. I mean, look at it. It's got a hole in the center, and it's got this "horn" sticking out of it. Looks like something you'd stick on yourself if you really wanted to show your girlfriend a good time, if you know what I mean. Come to think of it, some of the names for Advent ships even seem sexual.

Tested the new beam turrets tonight (upgraded with synergy) - I must say I was impressed. I had some a-hole vasari player try to raid into my planets with a strike force of 2 capships (egg and kortul). I had dropped 4 or 5 beam turrets at the asteroid he attacked, along with 1 repair bay. He attacked the turrets. I lost 1 or 2, that was it. Meanwhile, he was driven off. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, DEVS!!!!! Ever since this game came out I've wanted a way
Irrelevant. Amount of time needed to destroy the same defenses with the same ships isn't going to change drastically between AI and a player.
Duhhh... what are you talking about? The AI will mindlessly fling itself headlong into turrets. Defending against the AI is not the same as defending against a real person. So I will say it again - when nerfs or buffs or rebalances are being argued for, play testing should be conducted againt real people, not ag
As for the whole idea of super ships and death starts etc... This is Sins. Not Star Wars. Not Star Trek. Not BSG. Not B5 even (it didn't even have shields).... Players really need to THINK about what they are asking for.
Dude, come on. We are brainstorming ideas about a FUTURE EXPANSION (or at least I was). What's wrong with that? Since this expansion was called "Entrenchment" and was about defense, I just figured another expansion might be

I have a few comments. 1. First is that there shouldn't be a consideration to nerf or buff anything BASED ON TESTS AGAINST THE AI. You have to test against real people, preferably good people. Lots of good people playing against lots of good people is the only way to ferret out any imbalances or OP-ness. 2. If we have to err on one side or the other (and trust me, we usually do), I would rather err on the side of OP defense. For one thing, this game has had t
Must be a bug, but I cant clear mines. They are homing mines. I brought in like 10 scouts. I can see all of the mines. And I've taken over the planet. But, as soon as my scouts approach the mines, the mines activate and kill my scouts.
They have already stated that this is a bug, which is being fixed in the next patch.

My idea for a future expansion (the third one?) would be super superweapons. Things like "death stars" and what not. Huge and monstrous things much bigger than starbases - something the size of a planet - that would take tons of resources, move slow and ponderously, but could move between grav wells. Maybe one of these things (the vasari?) would literally eat planets, removing them from the game and giving their resources to the vasari. Maybe the advent's would be like
In all honesty, that's the language most games are created in. Gamers are quite picky about performance, and C++ is closer to the machine than most other languages and can really deliver that performance. The APIs for DirectX are also pretty much built assuming they'll be used with C++ (and were likely written in C++ themselves). Ugly? Maybe, but it's the best tool for the job, and that's what counts.
Yes, I'm an expert in C/C++, being forced to program in th

The subverter is actually an *excellent* support cruiser - my favorite in the whole game. It does an "in grav well phase jump" which teleports it to the target, then locking it down (disabling it). Has another ability too which drops the shield mitigation. I highly recommend them for use against most ship types. Unfortunately, they don't counter carriers very well, if at all (sigh). Furthermore, they drop like flies to fighters. Basically, you cannot field

I was just about to ask about this myself. My problem is, about 100 times a game, while right clicking to give an order to a unit, I also slightly twist the camera (which also uses a right click - go figure). I HATE THAT. I either want a way to reset the camera, OR a way to change moving the camera to something else besides right click. Is either of these possible right now?

When eco-ing, which techs are advisable to get first, second, third? You can state the general case first, and then race-specific cases second. I'm no eco-whore, but I used to get the terran population upgrades first before moving on to minerals. My rationale was that credit income was the most important, and that was the upgrade that would influence population, thus credit income. Later, I switched my philosophy and started teching minerals first, and rarely getting
But enough rambling: What are good countermeasures for a joint disciple/drone host army for the Vasari?
I have been working on this question for quite a long time now. You can see numerous posts by me (and others) on it, and even a few tests I've run where I've tried various counters (flak, lf, etc) and posted results. One of my posts you might want to track down is "an attempt at countering carriers without using carriers" or someting like that. Th

On the Halcyon with Telekenetic Push... I tried it tonight. Played Avent against some dude's TEC. Anyway, I scouted him for a while and built up the best fleet I could to take him. He had his grav well ringed with hangers, plus a starbase with hangers, plus a ton of light carriers and lrms. I have learned too many times that I cannot put lf inside a grav well to take out carriers if there are tons of lrms present, so my only other alternative was a ton of carri

They definately "home," but something has to come inside their "homing radius" to trigger them. I've used them many times. Play around with them and you'll see.
The problem with that is "corpse collecting" is not a STRATEGY. It's a CHORE. If a siege frigate is only good at mopping up after everyone has left, then they serve no true strategic purpose, other than to waste a victorious player's time.
You are wrong. First off, the question isn't whether it's a "chore" or a "non-chore." The question is whether it is necessary or not necessary to do as a game function, and if it's necessary, what units will perform said "
