This is not a 4X game, come on guys seriously! Civ 4 or Gal Civ 2 are 4X games. This is the same as any other RTS, putting in conquerable planets doesn't make it a 4X game. Every other aspect of the game is pretty much an RTS. The scientific research and economic management aspect of the game is about as deep as a shot glass.

All it means is that the HYPE and the inaccurate screenshots have helped. There's too much blind faith in some of these forums it's almost like people have been brainwashed into liking games? Is it because you've been following it for so long that you MUST like it to justify the time you've been waiting for it? It's not THAT good guys, I am baffled as to why people think this game is so awesome, it's not. It's actually boring/repetitive already.......... X-(

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I've been playing this game a bit and I am not getting into it as much as other people are, what's so INCREDIBLE about this game?? It's not THAT good, the ships for the TEC are especially bad. It just looks like the same ships going to a planet firing some lasers until someone gets wiped out or jumps out. To be honest I can't get into it, its boring as bat shit, if you want a real 4x game go play Civ 4 BTS! Just my opinion.

(Laptop) T7250 2Ghz Duo Core 3 GB RAM 1280 X 800 8600M GT DDR3 256Mb All on highest except for Bump detail which is high. Again, this thread clearly shows that most people have high end grfx cards. Should've gone nuts on the graphics Stardock!! :)

Fair enough, I was under the impression that the Beta testers were testing a near complete version of the game? As in almost a User Acceptance Testing stage of the development cycle. What's the point of testing/getting feedback on something that isn't a true reflection of the final product? It sort of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

I say they should've gone whole Hog on the graphics department especially the ship detail/textures. In regards to performance I am sure most people out there have very good grfx cards that can handle a hell of a lot more. I am not sure we should suffer for the small amount of people which are still using old desktops/laptops/grfx cards, either upgrade or get a console. I mean some of the specs I've seen thrown around are seriously Dell Latitude like.

You would've though that after such a LONG Beta all these issues would've been sorted? Were the Beta Testers too close to Stardock? Was there too much of an emotional attachment? Was more independence needed? Shall we implement something like Sabanes-Oxley into the gaming industry? ;)

I must admit I only had two to three levels max with the Advent capitals. One was some sort of battle ship the other I think was called something destroyer, sorry can't remember the actual names. It just felt like it was taking ages to reduce shields/hull of some TEC frigates. Yes I did lose mine constantly ;) Maybe I'll give it another go............. One more thing, how do you change the capital ship's name? Cheers.

Does anyone else thing that the capital ships are underpowered? They just seem to take a hell of a lot of time to kill a frigate, it takes AGES! I thought it'd be quite an easy and fast kill. Also they seem a little to small compared to other ships for my liking...... Thoughts?

I thought SC was excellent! The scale of the battles is awesome and much better than any other RTS I've ever played, I am not really a huge RTS fan but that game had me hooked for a long time. To be honest I had much better first impressions of SC than I have of SINS, it felt like a more polished game to me...........

I agree with OP just finished playing a session and look the game is good but the lack of ship movement during battle is a little annoying. Having said that I could see that getting out of hand/debacle if you had huge fleets fighting, they would ram into each other and it would just be a mess. The one REAL issue I have with this game is the sub-sub par SOUND! The music is great but the effects especially of the weapons is pretty rubbish to be honest. I am predicting and IGN review score of high

Yes they are independent but the Howard Government can be blamed for the high inflation we are experiencing so what CAN the RBA do but to lift interest rates!?! So they are indirectly responsible, you know that. Why are we talking about this on the SINS forum? I was sort of joking in my original post to be honest........ ;)

It's all Howard's fault, old man sitting pretty in retirement whilst we cope with BS inflation and interest rates! X-( Anyway back to SINS, apparently the game will run at the speed of the slowest computer so yeah I can see why they would ban Aussies from playing in U.S games, it wouldn't really be fair to them. Again Rudd will fix it!

I've been caught in the pre-release hype for many games and pre-ordered only to find out it was ALL HYPE! Is this game really that good........setting aside all the emotional ties some of you have with the developers.

Blame Howard and his lack of attention to this country's broad band problem..........Rudd will fix it!
