I like Kronac's Cross.
cool, will do. thx.
I just got done with a game on System of War...it is pretty private. Each AI starts in another solar system, and there is a massive one in the center your supposed to fight over. I got mauled. Hard map.
that's the one! MAULED. yea, i meant the "premade ones" but thanks for the suggestion abotu the map creator. AND BY GOD. i messed around with that last night....i created one that JUST MIGHT take me a YEAR to complete.
Thetraviler: I wasn't around during pre-launch workup. And, I've only played a couple campaigns on single star maps. So please forgive a lot of folks for moon discussion. At current build, no, moons arent necessary-- of course, I still feel wierd that a star can have multiple terran worlds, but I live with it, because its a strat game, not an astronomy sim. Heres my thoughts for moons, though-- you liked my minisystem thought so ive been running with that. --Financia
I'm deciding to abandon my current "open map game" for now. below is image of it. it is called "Systems Of War". [link="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v65/sociopath1/undersiege.jpg?t=1202549318"]WWW Link[/link] Maybe I should have gone with a more novice map for my first game. But Systems Of War looked cool, so I went with it. Anyone have suggestions for maps with less access for the AI? I want some privacy in my system until I decide to attack TH
here's a view of my system. all my fleets have been wiped out, and all my planets are undersiege at all times. i have slapped a huge bounty on the seraks, countdown is about 8min. hopefully they will let up for a bit when distracted by pirate attacks. for now, it's a stalemate, delaying the inevitable by producing a couple ships here and there at each planet jsut to try and slow them all down. for some reason, metal is very hard to come by. i've upgraded all my cargo holds and met
yes, i have gotten 2 crashes since updating the game. pls fix problem.
Whoa, what difficulty r u playing on?
EASY. and i was WAY OFF ON THE TIME> i'm at 25 hours gameplay. way off. sorry. lol. this is rediculous, they are just comin in simultaneously at all my planets from the star in the center. i've now slapped a HUGE bounty on those terak bastards, hopefully the pirates will attack them and i will get a rest from thier attacks to build up again. and the solundi are reletnlessly attacking me at the same time.
each moon with it's own sub-mini-economic, and social infrastructure. same with massive space stations.
oh and let me add, I have spent 40 hours on capturing, and building up my star system(4 planets). Since launch day. lol. ahhh sorry, just saw a new forum called "strategy", i should have put this in there.
K, here goes. I've gotten 4 planets(one star system). Theres 3 other star systems out there. I'm stuck right now, because the AI factions are launching attack after attack on my system. I'm freaking out because I'm sending one fleet to "this" planet, and another fleet to "that" planet just to keep up with the attacks and back up other fleets. I'm afraid to build a new fleet and send it to another star system, because I feel that I will need whatever ships I create just to defend
Good points there from a realistic standpoint. I was going to bring up the asteroid point as well, since they essentially are moons in each planet's gravity well. That being said, I don't think it's necessary for the devs to stay too realistic... I mean, if it happened once with Earth's moon, it could happen again, right? If not, then what about the idea of putting a colonizable moon around the Gas Giant planets that are currently not colonizable? Maybe not even c
are all engine trails supposed to look like this?: http://www.maximumpc.com/sites/future.p2technology.com/files/imce-images/Sins-of-a-Solar-Empire.jpg because mine are a lot shorter. as seen in one of the pics i posted above...
i predict gamespot to give this game an 8.0 or below. they wont give it anything higher because of the lack of advertising money and advertising pressure. look at how they have a new c&c or tiberium preview every other week. we've seen like one spotlight on this game and it was up for two days max, like 4 months ago. let's see what happens.
i hate it when reviewers categorize a "steep learning curve" as a negative aspect of a game. ya as if everyone would only like to play games which can even be played by a 5 year old. Its especially funny cause reviewers always complain about a lack of deepth and innovative ideas and then they make such comments when they get those.
totally. otherwise it was a good review.
thx. yea, duh.....USER INTERFACE. lol
awesome idea!
yes, we need moons added.
Shit it takes me two hours just to ramp up to the point where I feel ready enough to spread my rule into the vast beyond of my home system. Oh well the user name says it all.
same here. i managed to capture and build up 4 planets in 7 hours last night. this is slow mode(the only way i play). that's 4 planets in a game with 4 stars. looks like i got about another week/month or so till i finish this game. and guess what: I F-NG LOVE IT!!
Bottom line, siege ships should be REALLY WEAK, requiring them to be PROTECTED by a fleet. If you or the AI fails to protect them, THEY WILL DIE. That's the way it should be. period. and this would ad a whole new strategy element to the game.
The ships do tend to just sit ther and trade shots, if you leave them alone. Personally I think it makes a lot more sense to grab those fleets and move them. Drag the attackers into the firing arcs of your orbiting Gaus cannons, lead them to a different phase lane where you have a new fleet heading in, and so on. It's entirely possible to get really involved in a fleet battle and move things around to bring in flanking, fake retreats and so on.
yes, i do that t
Artistic design. That's what the nay-sayers are talking about, and I would have to agree. I don't think it's bad, not by a long shot... ships and structures look very nice... but not amazing. This is the point people are trying to make. The _game_ is amazing, and here I mean the gameplay. But the artistic design itself here is not really brilliant (and believe me, I know what I'm talking about). To put it bluntly (and I don't mean to offend anyone), the lead artist on th
As for the ships sitting still and firing at each other, these are fairly large ships dont forget. For the sake of reality I submit the following: http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/images/f000001/f075712.jpg Why it's the IJN's own Hiryu... she seems to be moving at quite a steam... -why- would she do that I WONDER?!
yes, but it would be cool if they moved occasionally, and a few lasers missed because of the
