A 45-minute review?
I was thinking about how to make tactical combat a little more engaging, and here are just a few thoughts: 1) Add some sort of cover system. For instance, units in a tile with trees will have a defensive bonus. Ranged units blocked by terrain will have their hit chance reduced. 2) Use terrain elevation to confer bonuses. Years ago user reviews on the internet used to be worth something because people were generally reasonable about their criticism. Just so you guys are expecting it, it would not surprise me in the least if Fallen Enchantress got trolled pretty hard at Metacritic by folks still bitter about War of Magic and have a grudge against Stardock. Even the mighty Blizzard is not immune from such trolling -- check out Metacritic's Diablo 3 user score, and it's one of the better games to be released this year. Oh, yeah, and Romney is going to win in a landslide. Just so you're expecting that, too. ;)

It's so complex that I don't have any idea what the hell I'm doing, and I keep getting my backside handed to me by the all damn monsters all over the place. That said, Fallen Enchantress is certainly not "dumbed down", and especially not compared to War of Magic.
