If any missiles are fired at an ship that is jumping away those missiles will follow that ship all over the map until they hit it.

Anyone can get the beta.
With hardware like that, sounds to me like your video adapter doesn't have the proper pixel shader support required by SINS. Nothing you can do about that except not playing it on that system.
Then why did it work for an hour before it broke?
Realistically you would NOT want to have an war in space. All of the debris from all the destroyed ships would make space travel nearly impossible. Also setting off an nuke in orbit or an ship equipped with an nuclear reactor getting destroyed would flood the area with enough radiation that all satellites not shielded against radiation would be disabled/damaged/or rendered an expensive piece of metal. As always, what makes an fun movie or game fun wouldn't be practical in real life.
Whats the temperature of your components when this occurs? My brother had an similar issue with another program and it turned out his computer was overheating.
In the options menu disable team colors.
I had this problem until I updated to the Beta. Try installing the beta patch.
That's odd I specifically remember them having been part of trade lanes in 1.03. It should be fixed regardless as only the TEC can research more logistic slots as you pointed out.
If you have an dead asteroid between two planets with trade ports the dead asteroid isn't part of the longest trade route feature.
Are you sure the research for the refinery was finished and not queued up or in progress?
They most likely were for an old version of the game. What patch are you running?
-Multicore processor support -The ability to go negative speed for those who want to make movies and for slower computers -Capital ships being changed to what they should have been from the start. Extremely powerful and difficult to take out but also very expensive and impact your unit cap.
Probably has something to do with the windows update. It's not unheard of for Microsoft updates to break things.
Ok that shouldn't be too hard to do. :) Btw how do you update the maps to the Beta version of the game?
You sure the Vasari didn't have an Capital Ship carrier?
Make the missiles have a decent miss chance; that way it needs teaming up with an Akkan to reach full potential. (Especially if the akkan's range bonus also helps).
Signed
I just installed the Beta patch and now my Desktop has 4 Sins shortcuts. :NOTSURE:

I honestly don't know why it's not there already. They keep saying the game was designed with performance in mind especially lower end computers and low end these days includes Dual core Processors. You can't even BUY an new single core processor anymore so why don't they put it in.
I'm trying to make an wormhole go between stars and I can't figure it out. The add connection function doesn't seem to work when going between stars.
Seriously I can walk downstairs grab something to eat or drink and consume it and come back up and the page still hasn't loaded. This is the ONLY website I go to that is this slow. I have an 5 Mb connection so that's not my issue. It's my only problem with Stardock ATM. Oh and my spellchecker think I mean Starbucks when I write Stardock. Since you haven't played FA in a while your probably going to get your a** handed to you in a bucket by his AI. I know I did when I first tried his AI. Also if you want to improve your performance for FA even more I also would suggest looking at Duncanes AI fixes which fix the stock AI's.
Sorians AI has made Forged Alliance playable in single player while at the same time being many times more difficult. I'm sure there are ways to make the Sins AI much harder without impacting performance or even improving it.
They need to make the AI modifiable so people like Sorian can make epically hard and fun AI's.
I'm not sure why you would even consider "pirate base destruction" an important point for an AI. I don't even do it until there's nothing else left in the system, since they're my pets.
If you had had read my post more carefully you would have noticed I said,
This is normally not an issue, but sometimes random maps place an Pirate base between the AI and the rest of the map and because of this bug the AI is trapping it self into it's starting area.[/quote
