Yeah i see no point in having a shield ability i think it can only hurt. Im confused didnt all UNSC ships have AIs. Not all of them and a brand new AI or maybe not even a "smart" AI like cortana but they all at least had some AI wasnt that the point of the cole protocol that all computers and records of earth were destroyed before capture. Thats why the Cheif took cortona in the first place.
I like the idea of a high tier support cruiser. It could be very powerful and used in packs to infiltrate covenant space it would be like a space ship version of a spartan
Actually UNSC are more tactical and have one huge advantage because they have mastered making A.I.s which I think should have a tech catagory that would make ships faster more powful and efficient. One ultimate tech would be Hack Covenant Battle Net so the UNSC can see all Covenant ships everywhere

THe issue of multiplayer numbers still remains. This game just has horrible interface for online. An example of excellent online interface is GPGnet which gives supreme commander a very strong online community. I believe if Something like this for sins were made then almost everyone who owns this game would play online.

Hey CanadaMan What did you decide as far as the tech tree goes. Are you going to add a tech for infiltrating a covenant ship using spartans. Also one advantage the UNSC had were AIs so I thought that the ultimate tech would be the ability to see all covenant ships. While the Covenant are masters of slip space so they can see all slip space activity. This raises another question are you going to change the animation for phase jumping so it looks like a slip space window instead?
Canadaman to answer your question about the forrunner ships I would guess that they would use the same type of weapons for there ships as the sentinals use only on a larger scale. But again we dont know so there is alot of room for interpretation. And as far as designs you can imply what there ships would like based on the one we see and the way they built their structures and sentinals.
Hey canadaman sorry about the arm I thought of something, you know how truth's dreadnaught was the last forerunner key ship well I really think it would be interesting to add Derelic forunner vessels that can be captured. They could have pretty cool designs since we only ever see the one ship. Just a thought I know ts possible because in Uzii's sins plus he had a reasearch where colony ships could capture derelic ships that were put in a special system type.
Lasers arent perfect there beams widen as they go farther its just hard to notice. But in case you didnt notice the scale in sins is weird so you cant say they are just a few thousand feet away. The only way I could see the second option is if America and consequently the rest of the world were at the brink of economic sosial break down. In order to survive America would go to war. There would be no united coalition to fightthe US as Erope would likely join the US. Even if there was US would likely come on top (at least it would be a fair fight) do to Americas technological supuriority.

The war does seem to favor the Covenant so balancing is an issue but you forget that humans have 2 huge advantages; AIs and Spartans. AIs gives the humans supurior movement and targeting ability. In the novels it says that at the start of the war humanity would loose 1 spartan while the covenant lost a flag ship. I had 3 Cap ships and 30+ LRMs, some flack frigates, and kodiaks but I got Decimated by an equal size fleet of nothing but LRMs and Kodiaks. If I had invested in Kodiaks like my enemy I would have stood a chance but I spent all my money on caps and increasing the number I can command. Think about it its just no economical to build caps in most cases. Considering LRMs use rediculouse range and concentrate all fire on them.
To those who said that cap ships are fine your dead wrong i played a game today where it was pointless to build them because of all the missile frigates. Its basically a whast of money to buy them when I could build more frigates when it came down to it i lost because I build 3 capships while my enemy built tons of frigates then just had one cap ship for sieging.
