it is a rar file so you need either winrar or 7zip to extract it (btw 7zip is free winrar is trialware, to get either just google) harpo

three things to consider,vista/w7 both have a compatibility files trick that hides the files put under program files from programs accessing the folders to index/read files, so check if you have a compatibilty folder and if the map is in it if it is then move the map to the galaxy folder. second is which version of galaxy forge was used to create the map ie v1.1 for sins 1.1+ & entrenchment or v1.0 for sins 1.2-1.05 third how many players, stars and planets

I had a similar issue, i removed all mods, custom maps and forge maps from both the app data galaxys and prog files galaxy, then it worked for me harpo

if the maps are only in "compatibility files" then they need to be copied out to the galaxy folder before they will work , by the way I had the same problem on w7 so it is a w7/(vista?) issue. note to all mappers with w7 or vista please make sure that the maps are NOT in compatibility files and are in the galaxy folder before complaining thatyou can not see the maps in game harpo

which galaxy folder, and which mapping tool? ie galaxy forge or map designer? if they are maps from map designer they should be in the (xp c:\documents and settings)(vista/w7 c:\users)\"user name"\local settings\stardock games\sins of a solar empire\galaxy and will show up in the custom maps if galaxy forge see reply 413 harpo

first off make sure that any maps created with galaxy forge are in the FOLDER c:\program files\stardock games\sins of a solar empire\galaxy, then check that each galaxy has "versionNumber 2" as the second line if playing v1.1,1.11,1.12,1.13 and entrenchment beta, but if they were created with the map designer in sins then they should already be in the correct folder. to find the maps in sins start a new game then click on the map size button to switch between small>

yes laptops get hot, but if you RAISE the laptop up 1cm(1/2 inch) from the desk and do not block the air inlets on the bottom then they do not get too hot harpo

the file in the link is a"RAR" file which can be opend by "winrar" or 7z (i suggest 7z as it is free), to find 7z just google it, also make sure that you have .net 2.0 to run the galaxy forge and forge tools. the version of galaxy forge is in the heading of the toolbox window, and the version I am using is "V1.1" which DOES create maps for sins 1.10,1.11,1.12, and entrenchment betas so far the map size appears to be factored(mostly) by the number of players, and the number of
