Giving it the same fire rate as the Kortul's pulse beams is way way too much, too. It'd be fun, sure, but it wouldn't make for an interesting game. Now, a dedicated capital with nothing but that superlaser and with a cooldown (30 seconds, say), THAT would be a good idea.
I think having to resupply things like food and air is a little extreme, but I do like the idea of finite antimatter stores, and of normal weapons using a tiny amount of antimatter.
Or you could just not double post...

Sword of the Stars came pretty close, IMO, to MOO2. I regard it as something of a spiritual successor.

I partially agree; envoy cruisers should be just a tiny step down from capital ships...in terms of cost and supply use only. As for combat capability, to further the analogy, you don't put uzis and a machine gun on that ambassador's limo. The flagship comment is a fair one. Potential allies would be impressed by the sight of a a mighty Space Egg. Potential enemies mght be more willing to cooperate when they're staring down the barrels of a Marza's seige cannon.
