Inertial dampening devices are a pretty big technological stretch. But then, so is faster-than-light travel so it's a fairly reasonable one. Though, since no analog of such a device currently exists, it's just as feesable to postulate that inertial dampeners could be used on strike craft.
So what about the existence of strike craft, being low-mass ships which have much smaller engines than larger ships, and yet move much faster? What role does mass play in space?
Mostly speculation, but I think, from looking at them up close, that strike craft have a higher thrust-to-mass ratio than larger ships.
Bad Idea. As we know from movies(Star Wars-Death Star, Star Tek-Enterprise, Space Balls- Weird room-maid thingy), whenever you call something a flagship it gets blown up. So if you promote one of your ships to flagship status it is only a question of time untill some ill-minded jerk tries to smash it...
How is this any different from normal gameplay? I thought the point of Sins was generally to blow things up.
Just an idea for the Borg Cube and that if you care (haven't played the mod yet -still downloading it- but meh). Instead of having Capital Ships for the Borg, you could just have the standard Ship Yard for the smaller faster ships, and then the Cubes can all be Starbases like the Vasari ones in normal SINS, so they can move and warp. Also, this means weak cubes can be made, but then modified to the different types you want th

EVE Online is an MMORPG, not an RTS. Not familiar with SW Supremecy though. The trouble with three-dimensional movement is it's difficult to map smoothly onto a two-dimensional instruments like a mouse and monitor. Homeworld manages, but Homeworld is a game of micromanagement and tactics. Sins on the other hand is a game of overarching strategy and empire management, More to the point, if you had z-axis movement what exactly would you do with it? How would the fundamental gameplay be

I want the ability to give missions to AI players in the same format they dole them out to humans. Also, demands; I should be able to demand a lesser empire cough up a wad of crystal like the AI players so often do to me. I'd also like the ability to give the same kinds of missions and requests to other human players. Perhaps this could be tied into the existing diplomacy framework, some kind of conditional request/demand/proposal thing. Example: I might demand that Frogboy send me 30

Honestly...I'm not a fan of IGN. Their track record is pretty bad. As the saying goes, "You can't spell IGNorant without IGN."

I second the "don't resign" train of thought, with one addendum: make sure your boss knows that you know. And the next time you need a favor or what have you, remind him of it.

To clarify: Interstellar jumps can only be done directly from one star to another, and require some kind of long-range jump research. Also, the artifact that reduces the flight time for interstellar jumps also enables them whether or not you have the tech.

Addendum: Saying that you "could care less" means you do care, i.e. the amount of damn given is nonzero (1 or more). I suspect what you meant to say was that you "couldn't care less", implying that the amount of damn you give is at zero and therefore you do not care. "Could care less" is probably the greatest tragedy to befall the english language. It used to be everyone knew to say "couldn't care less" because that was gramatically correct, but then some idiot got it wrong and it stu

While your caps are waiting around reducing it to the point where the world can be colonized, they're wide open for a counterattack. :D

You know, I would have mentioned this earlier but it didn't occur to me... TC, Ironclad provides for your convenience a multiplayer service, robust technical support, and unusually frequent content updates all free of additional charge. That's right, they don't charge you for any of their continued support apart from whatever you paid for Sins in the first place. You are damned lucky to get any of this at all, even with bugs. So before you go demanding a mi
