Lol, 4x. Someone just called sins a 4x, where are the gal civ fanboys to come show this guy the err of his ways. untill they arrive. This is NOT a 4x, it will NEVER be a 4x, it never WAS a 4x. It was a marketing slogan to get their galciv2 fanbase to play the game, it's just a slow rts. Delusional to think otherwise.
Haeso
Redwing, the vast majority of the vets are quitting, GE is pretty much disbanded informally and we were the only clan big enough to consistantly have in house games. Between us and the fact that I haven't seen or heard anything from X recently leads me to believe anyone with skill is leaving, not to mention the 10+ individuals who I consider to be among the best of us in sins say that any appeal for the game is gone for them, and I agree. 1.1 Isn't going to bring me back unless it's am
And hey, were you listening? Handicaps are exploitable and make noob stomping even worse. And no other argument? Okay, first off, short of this NEVER even having a chance at happening, lets go into why handicaps are a terrible, terrible idea in comparison to a ladder/automatch. Automatch takes people with similar win/loss puts them together, if not enough people are on then you get a bad matchup, it happens. That's the only drawback, this does several things though A: It avoids
A player with no record has no handicap. It is only after they establish a winning or losing streak that the handicap starts to fill in, to match their skill level against the rest. How is a player going to smurf that, again? If you constantly make new accounts you're doing nothing but wasting your time. If you deliberately lose games just to keep your handicap high, your lousy gaming record will speak for your lousy skill.
Hey, guess what, a handicapping system that only t
I'm sorry, I couldn't read even half your post, add some damn paragraph lines. Not trying to be mean, but that just hurts my eyes trying to read it. And not to be mean, the game doesn't have much time, from it's first inception untill it's either accepted as a big title or it becomes some backwater TA-esque game that is kind of popular but never really takes off. The market is saturated as I said, there isn't a lot of time before people just go back to staples like wc3, CnC, CoH, SC whi
Java - as I said, the only modding community sins has is so goddamn limited by the piss poor excuse for dev tools, and I really hope they have some master plan for getting dev tools that work. But the way the game is set up they can't do it through the maps if I understand it at all, because of the way it's generated in game instead of stored. I could be wrong, it may be possible to add triggers/scripting into this in game map generator so it can read it from the notepad/.galaxy files.
So a question for the Devs, the CEOs, and my fellow gamers. Is it me or is the community on ICO dying? I've seen the number online every day dwindle more and more, the peak was well over a month ago that I saw. Am I just crazy or are we losing players day in day out. Are we just never going to have a real community? Just 20-30 guys that know each other and a bunch of random noobs that play for a week and never go back online? Honestly this game has lost almost all of it's appeal for me, f
What changes that we asked for were added in 1.04, other than a band aid fix to the atrocious market and a feeble buff to the still worthless carriers. This game's multiplayer is dying quickly anyway though, less and less log onto ICO every day. I'm lucky to get a decent game once a week, GE hardly plays in house anymore with no one else to play against practicing is a waste. And pubs quit as soon as they join. So whatever, this mod won't save the game, none will. The professed "Modabi
You fail to grasp the point, it's moronic to have a system that encourages the good players to continually make new accounts because the game adjusts to make their skill and APM worthless. Might as well play rock paper scissors if you want a "balanced" game.
So you want to artificially make people not suck? No thanks. Learn to play the game. I don't even play pubs, but this still sounds idiotic.
Yes, instead of a stand up, knock down, drag out fight. You can use actual tactics in fleet engagements, and no it's really not like you won't kill a massive portion of their fleet. Not to mention there's nothing stopping you from chasing short of a surprise intended to lure your fleet into a bigger hidden one. And if they have a bigger fleet what's to say they couldn't just jump in and chase you. There's nothing game breaking about 25% less losses while retreating, if anything that's a GOOD THI
Community organized, fun? nawwww. No pin for you. People really should check it out, we need some more 2v2 teams so we can get some practice before may.
The only instance this kind of thing worked was for Dawn of War Pro. It worked there because it fixed GLARING imbalanced in the game, brought oodles upon oodles of content and reactivated things that weren't in the games like GM HWTs and things. Sins right now needs nothing like that. Mods like that only ever manage to do one thing, which is to break up the playerbase into the pros and the nots, which has an adverse effect on the multiplayer aspect and the attitude of the playerbase. I su
if by fast you mean fast settings - you can agree to whatever you want, should there be no agreement between the two parties then you will use all fast. If you mean the map size, yes. The larger the map the more the late game imbalances start to crop up. And jixra I already make maps with competition in mind, if someone needs something specific just get a hold of me and I probably already have a map that'll suit it. I have them all hosted as well, but there isn't enough interest to keep
More pre-game options wouldn't hurt. Better would be the ability to set a specific scale, like with a text box or something. 100% would be as it is by default, but it could go as high as you want. Arbitrary decisions by the developer of what the player wants, ie, just three different options (normal, more, less), is never the best solution.IMHO it doesn't really need a LOT of adjustment in most situations. But I don't think it's excessive asking for 75% of your income if you want the
No, They didn't steal it, Warhammer 40k online will own Wow tho (Yes you heard me, GC is making Warhammer 40k Online, FINALLY)I will murder THQ if they fuck Warhammer 40k Online up.I swear to god. Then again, GC/GW Might not let them. And Haeso. Hey Smart Guy, Who's your favorite warhammer 40k faction?
If we're going by sheer awesome factor, I'd say space marines... Powered armor/exoskeletons are just incredibly badass. Shame the mech warrior games never had more to do with
Inspired a great game that had nothing to do with GC. I play 40k, gothic and fantasy. I love GC, but you really can't credit them with anything, blizzard picked up starcraft when GC DROPPED THE GAME. They chose to, blizzard just took over after they gave up on it. They didn't steal it either btw. Go look it up.
Not to mention a huge reason why SC became a spectator sport to quite a large degree, Crandaelon. And while scale is nice and all, I personally would rather have a much higher degree of control over less than a more automated system for controlling masses. And was the 80 an example? Or is that the APM you think SC actually required? Most players in SC at high end had well over 200. Regardless, I'd rather have exact micro on a smaller scale than a game that plays itself for me :| sup com
Double posts r fun.
Keep this on the top, we've got a quickly growing userbase, we just need to get everyone interested aware. It'd be nice if someone could either sticky this or give the Site a link somewhere.
Noob stomping isn't fun, but if I don't have enough players for an inhouse and I'm extremely bored yeah I'm going to do it, why shouldn't I be able to play with friends on vent just because you don't have friends and a vent server? Just because we all happen to not suck? People act like we're there just to stomp noobs, when in reality, we just want to play, we'd play if another good team joins, or if noobs join. Or if we have enough on we'll skip pubs altogether and play inhouse so we're sure of
Bump so people still look at this, these should fix a lot of the problems with team games now especially on maps like twin empires that devolve into 4 1v1s instead of a team game.
it'll take longer to load with text (very minimal) but yes, there's nothing wrong with keeping it text, you can however turn it into binary, there should be an explanation in the readme for that crap.
Proph has taken the time and money to set up a real ladder with a hosted server and backend, he'll be working to configure it as well as likely add a forum for it. 1v1 and team ladders will be available. Details and URL will be sometime tonight once he has finished.
