Actually, if you select a allied ship, structure or system, you have two pings, ally attack-ally defend. You click the one you want, then click the system you want targeted, and the AI will respond, it may just take some time because they seem to bring ALL their ships. It's great for weakening pirates or diverting another AI's forces away from the front where you plan to hit.

A tie hunter is basically the TIE ball, with X-wing like wings, Think of a interceptor with the ability for it's wings to spread apart like the X-wing. Quick note on the mod. Excellent job. Though the Vic II for the Empire has a problem with its abilities. It starts with missile barrage and the first lvl you get (once it's built) doesnt take effect. you dont get the ability you select, but you lose the point.

It's entirely resonable to think that Republic/CIS ships could be mothballed for a few hundred years, then retrofitted with more advanced weapons. It's not like Star Trek where your going from phase cannons (which was a cannon looking thing) and torpedoes to pulse phasers ( which is a emitter) and quantum torpedoes. The basic design of a turbo laser from the Republic era isn't really different from the Empire era, all the major differences would be internal.

You may want to check out "The last stand" mod, Mansh00ter, the main guy (not sure if he has a team or is alone) seems to have made something like what you describe with ships looking damaged, smoking, on fire as they take damage. Also, since you seem to know what your doing you may want to see if one of the mods currently going could use your help, that way they could help you as well.

I'd rather they told stories using scenarios rather then a campaign. I prefer to think of each new game of sins I play as another chapter of a story. Campaigns are a tricky thing, you either hit the nail on the head or you fail. I'm of the opinion that the 3rd expansion will have a bit of a campaign, probably introducing the race stalking the Vasari.

Use the scout as a forward observer, jump it into a enemy system you plan to invade and hit the cloak button, you can sit there and gain intel, much like the TEC's cap ships, "vision (or whatever it's called).

I would also like to see other races ships in the graveyards. If possible a good way to work it would be to just randomize the ships in the sector (3 TEC, 5 Vasari, 2 Advent, 1 rogue) and have it explained as a sector where a major battle took place and radiation was so intense nobody could get into the sector, until now. Maybe the ships could have varying degrees of damage as well to simulate that.

One cool thing would be a "gunboat strike" type of ability, particularly for hangars. What it does is basically creates a special squadron, thats larger then bombers/fighters, but smaller then frigates. This ability would basically send the squadron through a phase lane to a enemy planet where it would then be controlled till it's either destroyed or run's out of ammo (basically, timed). You can use it to target ships, structures, or the planet itself. The special can only be used on a system

I don't know about either of the maps. The federation is 3-4x the size of the next biggest empires. Cardassia is closer to the Federation then the Tholians....Just doesn't work for me I guess. Love the ships though, esp the one in that last post. Looks like it would make a good carrier ship.

The ability to put components on ships. Much more variety in what to build on a planet, including galactic wonders. Would love to see a Honorverse, B5, Robotech, (with transformation abilities) and battletech mod. Wish the ST & Warhammer 40k mod would hurry.

What about maybe just releasing shipsets? Damn, too bad seeing as how SoaSE is like B5 just with a different story. Hopefully they'll fix stuff for the B5 mod in the expansion.
