Reply to Possible Bug? in Technical

I would imagine the bounty was left over from when they were still alive. As for the achievement...you have to defeat hard AI players for those, changing the difficulty mid-game doesn't count either.

I believe what he's saying is, the research and diplomacy elements aren't anywhere near as deep as in, say, Space Empires V. There is also less variety of planet types, artifacts, random events, etc. But you have to remember that this is a hybrid game, blending many elements of RTS with the large universe commonly found in turn-based 4x games. To actually create a full-fledged 4x game with all the really good RTS elements found here would be a monumental undertaking. Cut the devs some slack,

I'm getting a good example ready for you right now. However I should mention that most often loading a save game seems to reset the particle effects for a short time before the issue resumes.

I tried setting it to 60,000 and it did help a bit. No discernible performance loss. What is the maximum size particle count can be set to?

After having read several threads concerning LRM fleets, I decided to try it out for myself. I must say, I've never seen a cap ship drop in a single volley before... Oh but look his explosive nanites made my entire fleet chain explode. Good game.

My guess would be that they removed a ton of debugging code and such for performance reasons.

Going to have to agree with Warnstaff there, something definitely isn't clearing out properly. Also it does seem to happen more with Vasari than with the other factions. There's no reason why at least some of the weapon effects on a small to medium battle shouldn't show when nothing else is going on in your galaxy. Even with the "fix" mentioned, it only delays the inevitable. I would be greatly pleased if the devs would add this issue to their list of bugs, in case there actually is a real i

Going to bump this up, since this is one of the very few issues plaguing my game experience. I've tried lowering the detail settings, to no avail. I'm running a pretty good rig so performance hasn't been an issue at all, it just randomly shuts my particle effects off. What is the Vista path to the file wherin I can shange the particle settings?

IMO they need to do something to address this, I'm seeing ALL my weapon effects disappear, save for the beam weapons, on even moderate sized battles with maybe 3 cap ships and 30 frigates cruisers and support per side. I have an 8800GTS 640MB, 2GB RAM and a 2.4GHz Core2 Duo, not really seeing a whole lot of slowdown on these battles so I don't understand why the effects would go away. Any idea what the path is for Vista? Going to try changing the particle count value and see if it hel

I had pirates take pot shots at one of my trade ports deep within my territory. About an hour later I noticed the barrier was still up. I'm going to venture a guess that it may either be bugged, or programmed with a waaaaaay too long duration. It should probably be made to drop as soon as enemy ships leave the system or are destroyed.

MY guide to beating AI: 1) Start a game vs any number of AI's At this point, you've pretty much won the game. Have fun. ^^

Why is this even an issue? While they're spamming a tard fleet, you can be building a far more powerful balanced fleet with all manner of special abilities. The only real problem I see with spammers is that it's really not as much fun beating them. Kinda like beating up a cripple: sure you can do it, but what's the point?
