What language version of Windows do you have? And is it XP or Vista?

Update: I ran across a thread in the technical board where someone had the same issue, and e-mailed the devs. They said that it has something to do with a unicode issue, that was fixed in 1.1. I also tried on my other PC, which has an english version of XP installed, and it works just fine on there, so I guess I'll just have to wait for 1.1 to come out, which shouldn't be too long. Btw, this mod is awesome. The new effects are so amazing I couldn't imagine playing the game with
Interesting, I'm getting the exact same thing, with the Pipeline Effects folder associated with Bailknights mod, and I have Swedish XP Sp2 as well. The "GasGiant" stuff is something everyone (afaik?) gets with Sins Plus (which is a part of 7 Deadly Sins)
...Or replace it with the default one, found in the game directory. (copy it, don't move it)
@SweZor I don`t know either. It seems like you have some problem with modified shaders...but i don`t know why. Did you try to use unmodified my mod? Is that also result minidump?
That's what I did after I found out that it was that particular folder that caused the problem, since I had not touched it when I merged. (didn't even know what it actually did) Vanilla sins is fine, nothing wrong there, older versions of your mod is also fine, but as soon as I apply som
This is very weird. I've made my own merged mod and shared it with my friends, and they can all run it, but I can not. I got annoyed, and tried to figure out what was wrong. Whenever I remove the folder "Pipeline Effect", everything runs fine, but as long as it's included in the mod directory, it minidumps on activation. Obviously I thought I had messed up somewhere, so I re-downloaded your mod from this forum thread (Filefront link) and extracted it. And it acts exactly the sa
Some of the advice and warnings i've seen on here scares me alot. Forget about the 8800GTX/GTS640/GTS320, they're outdated and obsolete. You will not be satisfied with the 8600GT/GTS, it does not perform good enough to make a notable difference from your old one. The advice offered about the PSU is the most worrying here. The 8800GT or Radeobn 4850 are both actually fully capable of being run on a 400W PSU. And no, it will not explode in your face if it's not up to the
(I'll only list recent titles here) Halo 3: I loved the singleplayer, but as it was kind of "more of the same" of Halo 2, I did not find the multiplayer very interesting, and you can only play the SP so many times before you get bored. Call of Duty 4: Singleplayer was short, but oh so sweet. I actually liked the ending, although the best part of the game was the part in the middle where you went OMFG. If you've played it, you know it. The multiplayer is one of the best I've eve
19. Suprised that everyone's so old, I though everyone was around 17-20 like most games I play.
Sounds like your computer is bottlenecked. Somewhere there's a part not catching up to the others. Possible culprits could be your RAM frequency or motherboard, so more information about those would be nice. I myself have: Pentium 4 "Prescott" 630 @ 3.0ghz 2gb DDR2 RAM @ 667mhz XFX nVidia GeForce 7600GS 256mb 160gb SATA2 harddrive Onboard 7.1 Audio MSI P4N SLI motherboard (800mhz FSB, SATA2, DDR2, PCI-E 16x SLI) 550W OEM PSU. Samsung SyncMaster 226B
It very much depends on your budget, and what motherboard you currently have. Personally I would go with something along the lines of a RAM and monitor upgrade, since RAM is currently very cheap, and a bigass monitor is really sweet. I myself have two systems: P4 "Prescott" 3ghz with 2gb DDR2 667mhz and a GeForce 7600GS. This system can run sins with all settings at full (including AA) at a resolution of 1680x1050. stable at around 30 FPS. My other system is a P4 "North
It seems to work just fine for me (although merged with several other mods), although I imagine that the balancing changes made in the new patch are not included.
Odd with all these people having problems with multiplayer. I can say that I have had zero problems with playing this (or any other versions of S+s for that matter) online with other people except for ones related to my own stupidity and clumsiness. And the few times when the game does crash or kicks a player out is mostly due to errors with merging, installing, strict NAT's combined with host migration issues as well as forgetting to restart the game after rebooting (believe me, it hel
Wow, this is the first time i've heard of anything like this happening to a new-ish flatscreen monitor... It was very common on old CRT's (that's why they invented screensavers in the first place). Your best bet is probably to call up Dell support and ask them what is going on. You could also have a look through the manual for your screen, see if it says anything about running for prolonged periods of time at a non-native resolution.
Stockholm, Sweden, Northern Europe. NOT Switzerland. NO penguins, and NO polar bears WHATSOEVER. Thank you. :P
I always save my maps in the galaxy folder in the game directory (along with all the other scenarios. Mine are all located at: "C:\Program Files\Stardock\TotalGaming\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy\mapname.galaxy" for example. Many do the error of putting them into the galaxy folder in the user dir, where the in-game editor puts its maps, this doesn't seem to work though. (instant defeat at map load) As for ships and races, I don't think this is possible with the Galaxy
Ummm... I've gotten it to work within the mods directory without any problems (even merging it with other mods). Disregard the step about creating a new directory and renaming stuff. within the mods folder,Just extract it so it looks like this: ...\Mods\MT Textures\Textures\texturefilesinhere It works just fine for me. And as for restoring the backed up files after running the .bat file, you'll have to copy the contents of the backup dir and paste it into
From the readme of bailknights graphic mod: ........... 7. Go option -> mods -> enable mod to activate mod. 8. Check "Load mod on start up" 9. Quit Sins because directly after activate mod Sin is very unstable that time and may cause minidump in few minute after loading. 10. Start Sin and enjoy mod. ........... I once got a minidump when I skipped this step. And yes, that was with v1.03 and the latest versions of all mods. Doesn't seem to happe
Well, as it stands right now The Mars Effect does not work on v1.03. There is no work around for this escept for simply excluding this step, or wait until xXAequitasXx releases an updated version. Which will take time. To merge the other mods, there are instructions here: [link="https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/304236"]https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/304236[/link] Put together by PirateNeilsouth, the same guy who made this original guide. (I did not use the exact same method,
Wouldn't it work just as well to just extract the planet texture pack into the mod folder as well, and intergrate it with Sins plus that way? Not including the Icons_planets.tga file from the texture pack, since this makes the new planet icons go all buggy. In other words, skip step a) and carry on with everything else, but before you start the game and enable it, extract the contents of the texture pack somewhere temp, and copy all files inside the MT Textures folder EXCEPT for Icons_p
I got the same thing when I tried putting my Galaxy files into the galaxy folder in the MOD directory, once I moved them to the galaxy folder in the GAME directory, they worked just fine.
Ah crap, never thought so far ahead, I just made the package for a few friends to make the mod installations a bit easier in preparation for a few games this weekend. (And I thought I might as well put it up here since so many requested a download of the final result I'm sorry if I stepped on someone toes, I'll take it down/remove mods if anyone has any problems with it. I would edit the post to make it include full credits, but it seems the forum won't let me... I'll make a short readm
Alright, it seems as if most of the mods to work under 1.03 right now. I've put together a file with everything except for the Mars Effect mod (but including the latest version of Sins Plus instead) and it all seems to work all nice. The download is slightly bigger this time, but it should be alright. (mostly due to the doubling of the number of planets included in SinsPlus) It's also much easier to install this time, since you won't have to copy anything from the game
So now that 1.03 is finally out we finally get all the modifications and improvements made to the game. But it comes with a price. Now all of your saved games, recordings, mods and custom maps seem to be made unvalid. For me the latter is the most painful, since I really hate to play on random maps, and none of the default scenarios seem to fit me. So after some poking around both in teh forum and in the game files i've come up with solutions to some of the problems people are having with
Alright, I've solved the problem now. It seems that if I have the maps (From galaxy forge) in the user folder, it will not work, but if I have them in the program folder (where all the standard scenarios are) it works without any problems. I will post a thread with a guide to straighten up some of this with the galaxy forge and custom maps in v1.03, since new maps created with the forge won't work in the new patch unless you update them manually one by one or change the GalaxyD
