Hi Guys, I have been frustrated today when I finally decided to install impulse. It gives me a strange error and then proceeds to install. When it is finished it reports a successful installation and then impulse crashes and wants to send an error report. I have been opposed to these kinds of updates for this kind of reason. Standalone patches I find far superior, but since that i

Etiquette us a truly loose and undefined standpoint in my opinion. I understand the arguments that have been put forward, but they really depend on your perspective. If most people of Western origin burp at the dinner table it is considered rude, whereas in certain Asian countries, it is expected after a meal as a sign of appreciation and enjoyment. A request to quit just because someone is struggling may be as offensive to the person who is struggling as not quitting is to the person as
I think this is an inherent problem with playing online...you never really know the people you are playing with and what styles they like. Because of this fact, there is likely to be a clash of opinions in some regards which is why the 'terms and conditions' should be clealy stated before the game starts. It is completely up to the player whether or not he wants to quit the game, some people like trying to fight an uphill battle. So if this is not cleared up before the game starts, then
Hi guys, This is a funny post because it is opposite to the 'quitter' posts of the past that were abundant in these forums. Perhaps the player concerned had a sync problem and didn't know he was losing so badly ;) I quite admire people who do not quit needlessly - to quote a renowned writer "It aint over till its over"... I'd suggest asking people before you start if they mind quitting if it is clear that there is a winning team...otherwise you'll have to take
This old school trekkie has to agree :) Nemesis was a great disappointment - as far as I'm concerned it never happened and Data is very much alive in the Trek universe ;) The writers could have killed Troi or Crusher or any other character but NO they chose the coolest one ever! As far as I'm concerned that put the whole movie in the trash! So it never happened imo :D I am looking forward to seeing the end result...thanks guys for your hard work!
It does bother me that topics can be so easily closed down. I happened to read your previous post that you reference in this current post, and it did not contain vindictive or rude launguage or any true justification in my opinion that warranted a shutdown. Sure you were upset, but that is your right as a customer who has supported the game a great deal as I know you have. I would have been more impressed by developers if they simply left a post like that as is rather than close it, or better
This is certainly the most unusual thread I have seen so far on this forum :) A material is not going to solidify in such a way. Solidification is the formation of interatomic bonds in order to stabilize the structures energetically, thus what you are saying is the exact opposite of this. You are suggesting input of massive amounts of energy (which has a proportionately large DESTABILZING effect without extreme pressure) resulting in spontaneous re-ordering and establishment of a MORE s
Me neither...can you explain further? Are you referring to locked teams? If that is the case then go to game options before you start and you can set different aspects of the game including whether teams are locked or not...
This has been a fun thread to read and I've been thinking about this a lot lately. No-one could be happier to see interstellar space travel become a reality more than me :-) But our world has far too many issues to deal with before that level of space travel becomes truly viable I think. Our population is enormous, far too large for this planet, we are still hugely dependent on fossil fuels despite our economic woes of late and the pressing need to address global warming. When the effe
Yes that was an episode (Thor's Chariot) that really conveyed the true power of the Asgard...I also loved that one. I also loved the episode where Jack gets transported to the Aida galaxy and meets the Asgard face to face, I believe it was called 'The fifth race'. In a (rather admittedly strange) way I wish I could erase my memory of those episodes and rewatch them again for the first time, 'cos it was really really fun...it's still fun to rewatch them, but I do, of course, know what's gonna hap
That's interesting...didn't know that :-)
I must say that I do agree that Sg-1 seemed a bit rushed towards the end, but especially the demise of the Asgard bugged me and I found it kinda sad that they chose to kill that part of the storyline. They never answered what happened to the ancient Asgard that was salvaged from that crashed ship on one of the protected planets (the one where Anubis kidnapped Thor) and why could the Asgard not live on in some kind of robotic or artificial body? They seem good at surviving being downloaded into G
Oh my goodness! I played that game to bits but I cannot for the life of me remember its name!? I just remember the icon of your character getting increasingly bludgened as you took hits...lol. I also remember the minigun :-)
Yes, it's a great pity about that, I was very sad to hear that...and the timing for the latest movie (continuum) mean't that I knew that this was THE LAST time I'd see him in action in a new Stargate production when I watched the movie. Quite sad...
I would like it if the planets orbits could be observed e.g. a planet close to the sun orbits faster (in revolutions) than a planet further out. Unfortunately this could present the problem of phase lane shifts (i.e what were two adjacent planets may later find themselves on opposite sides of the sun)...but I would like the realism of a more accurate solar system model.
I also enjoyed that aspect of Rebellion and I've often wondered why planetary invasions were avoided in Sins - does anyone know? I also think that flipping could be made to work in the current situation, but it would have to be carefully balanced of course.
Lergedemain said: "Strong defenses rob players like me of the ability to make raids with small groups of ships, without committing to a full attack. Don't take that away." I don't think what I proposed will take that away, but you may have to use those raids early in the game to take out a player's defense line or to slow him down before he develops one. Besides, a small hit and run attack is not likely to dent a fully armed homeworld anyway imo, it doesn't make sense to me that a home
You guys do make interesting points... I have been thinking too and a *possible* way of avoiding the issue of every single planet becoming a 'Death Star' is to allow the researching of an ability to upgrade say 3 planets in terms of tactical slots. Example...research tactical slot upgrade in the research tree, then you have one more level unlocked than usual for upgrading of tactical capacity on every planet, but the first three you choose to actually upgrade the tactical capacity furth
*Changeling's...typo
Thanks Annatar11 and Kitkun, I do appreciate your points of view and the fact that we are able to have a civilized debate without it deteriorating as so many posts often do unfortunately. I can understand that it could be crazy if a player builds a mega defense around every planet, but I find that unlikely since they cost a fair amount of money and time to put in place. An early attack can kill a turtler quite easily if executed properly. A suitable ability / strategy would need to be devised in
Oh dear :-( It appears I must have hit the post button twice...plz excuse the double post!
Maybe I'm playing Devil's advocate here, but is the turtle style of play not still a strategy some players may want to try? Gamers often attack particular styles of play calling it 'scaly' or 'noob' or 'unfair' etc etc, but I think a well balanced game that allows as many different play styles as possible is a true winner. Take the original starcraft for instance, you could turtle, sneak attack, directly attack, use special abilities etc etc. Most other strategy games do allow for defensive pla

I agree with Paladin, if a unit is almost completely redundant then perhaps its balance does need a tweak. This kinda makes me think of the Babylon 5 universe when Earth had quite a powerful defense grid, attacking forces had to be large and work very hard to take out the defense grid, which I thought was a nice concept. I agree a fleet is always a good thing, but the option of a powerful defensive strategy would be an enhancement I think. I also like the idea of battlestations e.g. in master of
I agree, definitely a good idea to flip planets over...it will add a new dynamic to the game rather than just bombing the crap out of everyone :-)
