i
To be honest I'm starting to think that Envoy ships may need some kind of help, as I was having quite a hard time getting mine through LTW's planets while playing a game with him last night. I solved this issue at the time by befriending an AI and having the AI attack his planet while I sent two envoys through. We'll see what others think on this I suppose.
Once you have decided to go all out and take everyone on these s

If this was a persistent world like an MMO I could understand the desire to make friends. But as a RTS, diplomacy is hardly needed, I wish the devs would have spent the considerable time on getting diplomacy in the game on something else. The second expansion with more toys, another race, etc... would have sold a TON, just ask your marketing department. As great as that game is don't try and make Sins into a Dawn of Discovery.
I guess it's because I play locked teams, but why would you want to spend resources to befriend someone when your eventually going to have to kill him? Why spend time and money to improve you and your ally, for at the same cost you can use it to attack? It's more fun to spend the money on blowing things to space dust. Now the pirates improvements are good, I just hope that the ai can handle you using pirate missions against them.
Quick question....besides the pirate improvements, does locked teams make Diplomacy mute?
I always thought because it's in their best interest that AMI and nvidia should finance a few pc exculsive games with graphics and scale only the pc can deliver. Do they want to sell graphics cards? Well give me a reason too.
I thought I seen a post of the devs stating that in the next beta, embassies are out, it is the envoy cruiser that will have the bonuses.
Sins is so stable for me I dont bother saving most of the time.
All they would have to do is change the aggress, fortify, research to names of different factions, and you would'nt know the difference. But before we expand the current ai how about things that need improvement now. The ai needs to make superweapons and utilize the current techs correctly.
Actually, it'd be cool if the planets moved in orbit around the star, maybe even have the stars move. you'd have to anticipate how the phase lanes would change. could make for some interesting strategies. defending would definately be harder, but your ships could be cut off alot easier depending on your timing.
But it seems like we are in the minority, lately all I read about is how to speed up the game.
I believe most if not all frigates should be shrunk down a little. And to be honest have'nt been loving the ship designs lately. The Vasari mine layer looks like the Predator's face, maybe a new additional ship designer? Diplomacy needs some type of "toy" to play with, Entrechment had starbases and new ships, just an envoy cruiser and the ability to trade and communicate isn't getting me as excited to a level where it was for <strong
Love Stardock Love Ironclad but diplomacy is little more than a new splash screen at this point. Thank God Dragon Age is here for now.

One cool thing that could be used is a diplomatic way to deal with neutral planets. Maybe they pay you off a percentage of their incomes if you dont blow them to smithreens? Or you could tell neutrals who and whom not to attack if someone enters their wells.
true, but it doesnt mean that you shouldnt have the ability to play two sides against each other while you smash the other
true, but it doesnt mean that you shouldnt have the ability to play two sides against each oth
You people realize that a Sins 2 is more than likely a 2012 release.
My feeling is Diplomacy should make the game deeper, but having said that, [e digicons]:X[/e] I don't see anything that is going to make me turn off locked teams. Let's remember that SINS is primarily a space BATTLE game.
Yea, I know its beta, but im nervous with the direction. Not many of us were shouting diplomacy, we wanted bigger tech trees, cooler ships, different types of wells ........And as a single player locked teams kind of player I'm confused.
This could work in single player games also. Instead of "issuing" commands or give missions, you could for a short time control the other fleet.
Personally, I'm a little disappointed in the direction sins is heading with the new faster setting. The whole reason I liked sins is because it was a slightly slower paced game. By that I mean if you selected all fast and no quickstart, the game fleshed out probably in the range of 30 min to 4 hours, depending on how good a match it was. Now the game is all about speed speed speed, fleet fleet fleet, rush rush rush. Little dishearte
So after the other side develops the tech to target envoy ships, you have a unarmed sitting duck in the enemy's homeworld grav well ? How long is that going to last? I havent really seen anything that is going to make me turn off locked teams.( I know it's not done). I really wish they would have made some cool new attack ships, and a few more techs and orbital structures and that would have been enough for my ten bucks.
So there is no actual Embassy? I was trying to have the tec envoy"deploy" an embassy since it looks like a starship constructor, but that's not the case?
What if the TEC Envoy ship had a expanded version of armitice that stopped all hostility if one of your wells comes under attack? I mean that what diplomats do they stop conflicts. The cool down time would be enormous something like fifteen minutes. Also the unit cost would be huge so each faction could have no more than two per team.
I play locked teams only. I don't see the point in making allies if all I'm gonna do is kill them all eventually anyway. Btw I made a envoy cruiser, sent it to an enemy homeworld and it would'nt deploy, what am I doing wrong? Also a little dissapointed that the envoy cruiser looks ALOT like the Starbase constructor. Last but not least to the devs..... Every race does not need the same units. I don't see why the Vasari or Advent have Envoy Cruisers they would not want to talk the
Yes good idea.
Just in case anyone misunderstands, I love this game. And I have no problem with DLC per se( almost like mini- mini expansions) , but at launch, it split's the game to the have and have nots.
And finally... Sins of a Solar Empire - dlc- $ 8.99 additional for the Kol......you get the idea. I am intrigued by your ideas and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I can barely put a paragraph together. [e digicons]X([/e]
