"It also makes you manage your SC. Which is good because it engages you. Adds more strategy to fleet engagements." I have two problems with this statement: 1) I already have plenty of stuff to be doing in SoaSE - like a second battle, checking on my opponents, building an additional fleet, or managing my planets - without having to micro-manage additional individual units, especially strike craft. 2) Managing SC is almost certainly a [link="http://www.merriam-webster.com/diction

Seems I ruffled many more feathers than intended. I apologize. The comment wasn't directed at anyone who's responded since I wrote. Additionally, upon reading it again, I realized that it came off as much more caustic than I'd intended. Sorry. As for your comment, PurplePaladin, I originally had the same impression you did. However, through reading the forums, I think the plan is to release the 1.1 Beta (aka 1.09) in mid-July. I'm not 100% on that, but it seems to be accura
It's past the exact middle of July, but I would assert that it is still mid-July and will remain so until after, say, the 20th. I really, really want the patch, too, but I'm not going to antagonize the developers. ...really, really, really....
For my money, it's either Isaac Asimov or Orson Scott Card. I'd feel bad if I didn't mention that H. G. Wells is pretty awesome, too, but I don't suspend my life to finish his books the same way I do for Card and Asimov.
Callum, according to the forums, you already posted on the primary BSG mod ~1.5 weeks ago. In case you're having trouble finding it again: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/177897 Also, for all of your total SoaSE conversion mods, look here: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/174340 I'm also hoping the BSG mod comes out soon. It should be pretty fun to play.
You are correct in that they have none currently. The decision was made to remove the campaign mode to prevent pushing the release date back further (small company -> need money). There are posts about this, but they're all rather old. That said, they acknowledge the lack of a campaign as being a flaw. IIRC, they intend to include a full campaign in an expansion pack. Originally, I think the ETA for that was late this year, but I'd guess that's rather optimistic. Posts relat
Somehow, I imagine that it's somewhat equivalent to the Care Bear Stare. (tm)
From my experience, GIMP seems to handle making .tga files just fine. Among other files, I've used it for the player portraits before.
xxpsyrixx, I noticed my computer lagging and having serious issues late game, a while back. It happened primarily on large games (~10 players or as the fleet size research got higher up). It turned out that between SoaSE, Windows, and my other processes, I was requesting more RAM from the computer than it physically had (2 Gigs on XP) and Windows was making it's fake RAM by doing the quick-write-to-the-HHD thing that it does. Not surprisingly, this process is much too slow for
I noticed a very similar problem with stacked stars in the Solar Sector map. (It's a cool map, btw. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=142&libid=70 to check it out). Two of my fleets were commanded to go from one star to another which happened to be directly vertical from it. Of course, I didn't realize this, since I was viewing from a slight angle. Anyways, I let them sit there for some 10 minutes without moving before I finally commanded them to go to another star to t
Look at this thread. It should answer your question rather well. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/302056 Please look through the forum a little before asking simple questions. Most of the people here are really nice, but they usually don't enjoy repeating themselves.
LordSethD, all you need to do is remove the "starfield.dds" file (and re-enable the mod). I tested it on my computer, and the new space background is gone. Everything else seems to work fine.
The colony frigate for the TEC and Advent also have that ability. It works identically, despite the fact that it's on a different ship type.
DANMAN, I actually started making a list of the planetary bonuses at one point for Sins Plus 1.2, and figured out a relatively quick way to go about it. I ended up giving up because I realized Uzii's v1.3 was coming out, but I'm sure I could do it again. Of course, if you've already made significant progress, it's probably of little use to you.
Xefus, first of all, welcome to the forums. The people here are largely very nice and will answer your questions with respect, so long as you do so as well. As for your specific question: a number of people has stated (I'm sure DanMan and Uzii are among them... probably even in this thread) that it is unfortunately impossible to make a planet change or disappear mid-game. Besides, while a Death Star might be cool, it would likely unbalance the game drastically. Regardless, I believe
One addendum to your post(s), Retro: The "set price" button adjusts the price of the goods you're offering as a percent of the market price. It's default price is 100% of the market value, as stated. You can click to raise the price (left click) or lower it (right click) in increments of 2%, I believe. However, since you're not allowed to set your price greater than 100% of the market, left clicking won't appear to do anything (you're already at 100%). I think you tend to se
Sorry, Retro. Not trying to usurp you or step on toes. I just figured he could use the info. You do bring up good points, but I doubt people will listen to them. Especially the people making the Halo mods (which is likely more dangerous than a Stargate one). 'Sides, I'd say let them do what they will. It might be fun to try out a bit. (Where'd the Edit button go? I used it this morning.) :(
People are way ahead of you. I'd suggest helping them, if you can: https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/177748 As a side note, it's preferable if you check through the forums first before posting. ;p
It usually happens when there's a link from one forum thread to another. I don't know why, but the relative links are kinda screwy. If you want to, you can get around it though. I'll give you an example: (Note: I put the URLs in italics so you can identify where they start/end more easily. Edit: I also colored them.) From the Modding section there's a post called "[INDEX] - Conversion Projects (consolidated)" https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/174340[
Honestly, I'd bet that it'll work. However, it does break the EULA. Ironclad and Stardock have been kind and very reasonable with their restrictions, so you should probably be nice to them and buy more copies. Don't be that guy.
If you hit one of the arrow directions, it'll knock the focus off of the ship. If you just tap them, your camera will barely move in the process.
Damn it Lost_WLd! Now I find myself staring at my screen watching the pretty battles and planetary bombardments rather than managing my empire! Argh! Seriously though, nice mod. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
Windexglow, you sure do love making the same post on multiple threads, eh?
Yeah, that's a newbie question all right, but it's okay. All 5 of those are the TEC capital ships. Build a capital ship factory and make one. If you want some basic info on them, you can look in the ships section of the manual. It gives you a basic idea of the differences. The 2/1/1/1/1 are, I'm assuming, someone's suggested balance of those. Just figure out what balance fits your play style.
Oh, no problem at all. I'm perfectly all right with venting on the forums and using (albeit a little morbid) humor to talk about things. I was honestly encouraging people to write their representatives and felt like reminding others that the 13-year-old-anonymous-internet-troll mentality does not port well to persuading others. That's all. I have my own less than spectacular opinions on people who act like the Virgin Mobile guy. My frustrations are more directed at Comcast because o
