What version are you guys running? Also, are you sure that neither of you have any mods enabled and that you haven't changed any files?

I can't figure out if this is going to be more of a Stargate: Voyager or a Stargate: Galactica. It looks to be more of the latter, but I'm not so sure I trust them to not make it into a we're-lost-but-lets-start-kicking-@$$-anyways-for-no-apparent-reason show, ala Voyager. Hopefully, it'll make me start watching the SciFi channel again. Of course, if they actually change their name to SyFy, I may have to block the channel on principle.
Thanks to all of SD/GPG for doing everything they can. The first game I played over the internet was buggy and slow, but still a ton of fun (even though I lost). For your sake, I hope you guys are near the end of this mess. This part can't be fun.
I hope they use GOO. SecuROM has already destroyed my computer once. If you care: I installed the Spore Creature Creator back when Spore still looked cool. It apparently has SecuROM on it (why? it's $10). Well, SecuROM locks down part of the registry, so when I tried to install SP3 for WindowsXP, it failed. Trust me, that makes very bad things happen to your PC very quickly. Hopefully, SecuROM will eventually die once GOO gets going. *c
TheDreaming24, It sounds like you want a slightly different game. However, some of the changes you want may be satisfied by the mods that are floating around, specifically the access to additional races. I'd check on the Modding section of the forum. Also, if you just want a lot of races to play with, 7 Deadly Sins is probably a good option. Unfortunately, a lot of the other changes you want
The math is correct, fair, and working as the devs intended. However, it is somewhat non-intuitive at first. The best (short) explanation I've found is by SageWon:
"is is there ever a situation where destroying a trade port will actually be worth more to your income than keeping it there?" Yeah Garv, here is nice (extreme) illustrated example of j
@JSW Your reply confuses me. You are right, /B/'s comment was not called for. But where did i flame the OP? Relax mate, no need to get upset, i think you are reading too much into my reply.
Sorry, I really didn't meant to imply that you were that bad at all. It was a rather helpful post. There's certainly nothing wrong with that. However, I still believe that what you said could be interpreted as a little harsh,
Neilo and /b/, you're not going to get much accomplished by trying to insult the OP other than starting a small flame war. These forums are one of the few (reasonably) civilized beacons on the internet. Please try to keep them that way. As for the Demigod connection problem. Yes, it sucks a lot; however, it does seem like GPG and Stardock are doing whatever they can think of to try to fix the problems. They've personally apologized for the problems and have sol
Good idea. Maybe make the "kick idler" time more like 5 mins though in case the guy really just headed to the bathroom
Not the most PC way to put it, but I definately agree with you. I'd prefer a 10-15 minute timer (or maybe even 30), but there should be no need to bomb out every planet if the person has just walked away.
so to get these to work i shall install them as regular mod with textures folder and then rename the .tga extension to .dda? sounds good
I think you can just leave them as .tga files. However, I had some trouble making entrenchment like them. I resolved my issue by changing the file names to Player_Portrait_Window2.tga, etc., and changing their textureName (in four locations) in each of these files in the Window folder: NPC.playerPictures, Pl
Well done on the Necromancy, ADtaelessWonder. 1 year, 2 months, 19 minutes, and 59 seconds is probably a new record on the Sins forum. In case you're confused, check definition #2 here: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=necromancy [SFW], though I make no claims about the rest of the site.
I knew exactly what you meant when I read your post, but it took me almost 15 minutes of searching to find the blasted thing (couldn't figure out the right key words). Anyways, I'm pretty sure this is what you're talking about https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307477 I love using those pictures, too. Especially now that this kind of mod doesn't affect the checksum in Entrenchment. Anyways, I hope that's what you're looking for.
Wrong Carbon. The other Carbon!
So which one's the carbon copy? ...I'm ashamed of myself.
DANMAN, First of all, awesome for you for doing this. I remember when you were still new to modding this game and 7DS was still a dream. You've come a long way, man. Keep up the good work. EternalSOV,
Simple question how do I change the race pictures with my own pictures?
I think this is the answer to your question: You will need to modify or make new versions of the following files (all located in the Textu
Impulse is a DRM system. You guys just don't think it is because it's a well-designed system that doesn't inconvenience the original purchaser.
Honestly, I'm okay with that. Especially after having to reformat my hard drive because I had installed the Spore Creature Creator - which decided to conflict with the WinXP SP3 update. :p
Too bad the search function does not work better on this forum because if it did it would be easier to find the old threads on this topic.
Go to google and type in " site: sinsofasolarempire.com" - without the quotes, of course. Make searching very nice.
Here's my question: once I uninstall entrenchment, how do I reinstall? Will impulse let me do it again? I'm too scared that I'll have to pay all over again. With original Sins, I can just put the disk back in...
You will not have to pay again. I've had to reformat both of my computers in the past few months, switched both over to Windows 7 (one twice: 32 bit and 64 bit), and also updated the beta numous times. Also, I had to uninstall/reinstall to fix a few
To further Annatar's response: what you described has been tried many times by many people, all with effectively no success. The closest thing anyone has accomplished has been to create moons within a planet's gravity well. Depending on the modder's capability, these have even been made to orbit the planet, or at least move in some fashion. While cool, these moons are not colonizable and only there for visual effect. So yeah: sorry, man.
About 5 years ago, I picked up Warcraft II for $0.69 (on a tax-free weekend, no less). It was an old game, even then, but still f*ing awesome.
I had an enemy starbase kick my ass one time, but it's been fun to play. You just have to adjust your strategies a bit, which adds a certain new life to the game.
If rule 34 is ever actually invoked on SoaSE, I think I'll pull out. ...FRAK! *sigh*
Best. OP. Ever.
I wonder if it'd be possible to have the Vasari starbase phase jump at a slower rate than the normal ships do (1/2 to 1/4 speed?). In other words: have it be mobile, but not so mobile. I feel like it makes some sense - bigger things take more energy to get moving. Combine that with an inability to jump into a gravity well where one of your starbases is located (or jumping to/from) and you could alleviate the possilbility of people using them as "super capital ships."
I'm guessing they have a good reason for it, but this makes me a sad panda. I was really hoping this was going to spark another series of epic SoaSE battles with my friends. [Playing with people who are in yelling distance is amazingly fun.]
