I think the pirates are perfectly fine early on. However, it is a bit unreasonable that they scale without limit later in the game. I do like them being tougher than the minor nuisance they used to be.

I don't think they've figured out what exactly is going on. Judging by another thread , the problem may somehow be related to sound drivers. Oddly enough, it seems to only be a problem for Windows7 64-bit. Both the full retail version and RC seem to have the issue (I know I've run into it on both). I never remember seeing it on the beta, but that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't there.
Sorry, man but get over it. Every patches has changed the balance of the game (sometimes just slightly), which would mean the saved game you have would have played out differently anyways. Besides, they do warn you. Edit : I have no idea what year it is. Don't revive old threds. It confuses me.
I also have a similar problem with Windows 7 64bit. It's usually roughly an hour in (fairly inconsistent, though) and never left a minidump. I believe there's a thread on this somewhere else as well https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/357146 >, but we didn't figure out as much as you had. What log file were you looking at? Maybe if we get enough info to IC, they can figure it out.
Okay, I've started running into the same (or very similar) problem. I'm guessing I just hadn't played it enough recently to notice when I first posted. [ Edit : It could also have been a Beta-to-release of Win7 peoblem. As I said back then, I don't think I had problems with the Win7 Beta.] Of course, I've updated, lowered the graphics, and taken off all mods. Nothing else running other than Task Manager (to try to catch the p
Are there no plans for an 'alliance victory'? You can get an allied victory with locked teams, why not with them unlocked?
On unlocked teams, you CAN get an allied victory with at least two players. IIRC, the biggest issue is that ALL players have to be allied with ALL other players in an alliance for it to count (and possibly with no other players). It's a difficult thing to arrange. At minimum, two people can get an allied victory.
The easiest solution I've heard is to always have the player's main username listed under whatever current name they're using. This way, different players on the same computer would be allowed alternate names, but you would still know it's the same account. There'd be no account limits (so no need to delete excess names). Of course, you might have a hard time justifying that you're honestly Tyr's, JohnJames', or RagingAmish's 19th kid.
Frogboy (and Stardock as a whole), just do your thing. Thanks for keeping me (the future player) informed, even if I get somewhat confused at times. And thank you for clarifying those confusing points to the best of your ability and/or availability. Basically, I'm really looking forward to this game and love hearing about it.

I've gone in and modified the icon files to look transparent before, so I'm sure you could just remove them there. They're in a format that you'll need a real picture editor (read: not MSPaint) to modify - I think I used GIMP (free). I wish I could tell you the name of the file to mess with, but I don't have an install of Sins on this PC. Sorry.
Empire Tree: Yay . IMHO, It's currently the worst UI feature in the game. Fighters: Man, I just can't decide. I've heard the arguments many times before, and your arguments here are really good as well. The only thing I can say with certainty is that if any buff were to be implemented, it needs to be very small.
Rather than delete 'Windows XP Start.wav', you could just rename it. Just add something like a number to it. You wouldn't have to worry about losing the file, and the annoying little sound would almost definately be gone. I know this would really drive me up the wall, so I wish you good luck, sir.
He's saying to change that individual sound. That one sound is the first thing I always change when I start a new system. So in detail (for XP): Scroll down through the "Program events" until you See "Start Navigation" - it is in the "Windows Explorer" group Select "Start Navigation" In "Sounds" something should be selected ("Windows XP Start.wav", I think), change it to "(None)" Click "Apply" T
Magnetic Clouds- Allow starbase deployment? - I'll be honest: It's annoyed the hell out of me before, but if you change it then the clouds won't be all that different from other gravity wells. Additionally don't magnetic clouds prevent you from using strike craft? (I can't remember) If that's the case, I think it'd overpower the current main way of dealing with the things. On the plus side, it would force people to use the anti-structure cruisers. I'm
I've seen other forums that allow sigs, and I can't stand the cluttered look. I much prefer the format we currently have here.
Agreed. Signatures were cool for about the first 3 times I saw them, then they got really old very quickly. They get especially annoying when they start to take up more room than the replies themselves do. I'm in favor of Stardock leaving things the way they are.
I'm changing my vote Other- SB constructors trigger phase monitoring alarm? ("Hostile forces are inbound") - No. On an aside, I'd really like to know when my starbase is under attack, in the same way that the computer yells at me if my lone scout gets hit by a single bullet ("Our forces are under attack"). If I have one set up in a well that I don't own the planet in, I never get any warning until my starbase goes boom. You'd ju
IIRC, the "mine spam" complaints came up because initially there was no limit on the number of mines that could be placed in a gravity well. You could literally make it impossible to enter a gravity well. Additionally, I think it really taxed the computers trying to figure out what to do with the thousands of little explosive devices floating around. Was there another nerf that I just don't remember?
You can't preorder through PayPal. It's a known problem that came up with Entrenchment. Unfortunately, you're stuck waiting until the full release, unless you switch to some other payment method.
Nerf Orkulus- Increase build penalty in hostile wells? (currently 2.25x unupgraded) - No . Other- SB constructors trigger phase monitoring alarm? ("Hostile forces are inbound") - Yes.

A slightly more straight-forward method would be to use a second computer. I've used my laptop and desktop to set up games vs myself many times (usually testing to see if a mod can work in multiplayer or not). Of course, that's probably not an option for everyone, so I'd assume that Terraziel's suggestion is more generally useful.

I know you could up the amount of damage they can sustain, but I don't think it'll make them all that worthwhile. Reducing logisti
I agree with Vandenburg: an indication of which game you are talking about would help greatly. For my part, I've been happy with every game I've bought that was either made or published by Stardock. Yes, they've had some problems, but not too many to make me anywhere near as upset as you. And the fun I've had has vastly outweighed the problems. Edit : Well, I look silly with people answering my questions befo
