What's likely happening is that you're inadvertently trying to downgrade the game through patches, which I'm sure can cause any number of errors. Just do what Ryat and Mazuo said and let Impulse handle everything for you. You should never have to "install a patch" anymore. Just fire up Impulse, see if their's an update (a separate "Update" tab will appear at the top), go to it, select Sins and tell it "Update". Again, don't worry about patches anymore. Th

The few times I've had that issue, rebooting seemed to fix it. One time I eventually had to reset my router (took me a while to figure out that other things were actually screwed up, too). If those don't work, I'd email
Either take Ryat's suggestion and lock the teams, or do the same thing they're doing and start making friends. If you have a few allies (or at least cease-fires), it's not to hard to fend off the few remaining players who can get to you. I've played games where most of the map was friendly to me, at least for a time. The AI doesn't go through the same appeasment process that you will need to do to make them happy (a frequent complaint that should be fixed with Diplomacy so
Email I'm sure they would be happy to help you get the copies on separate accounts. I mean, you bought two copies of the game; can they really not help you?
I'm not sure I actually want that. At minimum, I don't want to always be able to know all alliance all the time (well, I want to know, but I don't want everyone else to). Really, I think it should be information that you have to work for somehow, be it through research or diplomacy or espionage. Stealth alliances, while dirty and underhanded, are a vital part of war and taking them out would make the game lose the most effective/realistic little bit
I agree with CallenExile, it's nice to know someone else has this problem. I always figured either myself or my laptop was just special. (Short bus special, not precious gem special.)
The Demon Assassin looks like he runs a little funny to me. That's more of a visual/opinion issue, so I doubt it's worth worrying about. More concerning is the fact that his run seems to glitch pretty bad between 1:00 and 1:06 in the video (unless he's got some skate-on-one-foot ability). An ex-ice skating champion demigod, perhaps?
These are my opinions on the matters at hand. Take them as you will. Nerf Scouts: Yay - No Nerf Needed Balance Scouts: Yay - Decrease Seeker Vessels Hp/shields/armor? Nay - Decrease Seeker Vessels DPS? Nay - Decrease Jikara Navigator cost/supply? Yay - Increa
That's not true. Manshooter's mod INCLUDES Bailknight mod so it is better than bailknight's one alone
But according to Bailknight's post... Since the other posters covered the basics: Yeah, stars can really slow you down, but don't forget to use it to your advantage. If you see an enemy fleet in a star's well, jump a few ships in to distract them. The ship AI should automatically make the fleet follow you, which will take forever next to a star. You can use the opportunity to get the jump on them either there (because the fleet is now spread out) or on another planet (since you can pull them around the s
Thanks for updating the best mod ever! The videos look really awesome, too. A little too much movement, but that's okay. And nice BSG music thrown in there (at least I think they're both BSG). I had Gaeta signing stuck in my head all night.
Has anyone installed and used 7 on an x86 system?
It works great on my x86 laptop (3-4 years old, 2GB RAM). I've not had problems with the beta, RC, or actual 7 on it.
yeah, but even with locked team ffa people have the (annoying) tendancy to make ninja alliances.
I had that happen to me. Pissed me the f*ck off. Kinda my fault though, I played my hand early and basically allowed two of the players to figure out how strong I was before I felt like wiping one of them out. That, and it was (supposed to be) a friendly game, so I figured it'd be in poor taste to completely elimin
My post was more addressing the way you could deal with any ally you don't fully trust. Setting staging points for operations often happens to coincide quite nicely with keeping your ally "honest." I actually think the AI is fairly mature in this aspect, honestly. I've had human players betray me in much more immature manners before. The AI is only doing what I would do in any temporary alliance situation: work together as much as possible to accomplish your coordina

To be fair, they released v1.18 and v.104E less than a month ago, and hot fixes for both about two weeks ago. The Diplomacy beta is supposed to come out soon TM ; however, SD/IC have gotten a lot of crap before about giving us an estimated date and then having to change it later. Because of that, I don't blame them for telling us until they have at least a good idea when the actual date will be. As a side note: I'm having an incredibly hard time not fixing your grammar.
I've found the AI to be quite good about keeping our alliances, so long as I have an overwhelming force just chilling at a number of his planets.
I've upgraded both my laptop (4 years old, 32-bit, 2 gigs of RAM) and desktop (1.5 years old, 64-bit, 4 gigs of RAM) from XP (32-bit) to 7 (32 and 64-bit, respectively). I've really enjoyed the change. Since it's a little different from good old XP, it's still taking me some time to figure out all the tweaks I want to make to the system, but it's behaved quite well so far. I like a lot of the little changes they made. I also agree with the aforementioned dual boot op
As a worst-case scenario, you can set the taskbar to auto-hide. It would then only show if you moved your mouse to the bottom few pixels of your screen.
The 7 Deadly Sins mod has the ability to have planet-classified stars, so you could have a binary style solar system. I think there might be others, but I can't think of them at the moment.
I have 4 GB and a dual-core, so I've been using the 64bit Win7 RC (my preorders haven't arrived yet). Thus far, I've had little to no trouble from switching to 64 bit. My biggest issue is that Google Chrome doesn't work for 64 bit Windows, but I usually use FireFox, anyways. And yes, I think they both come on the same disc. I'd suggest you just use 64 bit and switch if you have issues.
So... rant rescinded?
Email They tend to reply pretty quickly (~1 day). If you have a key, they should be able to sort thing out quickly.
I think it uses about the same (maybe a little less) than Vista. However, in my experience it seems that 7 will "get out of the way" and use less RAM if you have a large game running for a while.
