asically there's a bunch of users who are tanking the user rating for the game there.
The same dirty tactic is used on Gamespot : some nasty users post very unfair, very low scores (and sometimes, insulting pseudo-reviews) just to "tank" a game they hate (for very childish motives). When I see that happening, I post a 10 on 10 score to compensate. Patiently reading the intelligent user-reviews, on Gamespot, is more instructive. Patiently re

@ Bhruic > One can easily pass through (or on the periphery of) a gravity well to jump towards a more juicy planet. Won't the A.I. fleet bypass your well defended chokepoint-planet to flank it towards your rears, where your defenses might be weaker ? (For example, with a siege-frigate spam, to go bombard a core planet.) 1b-i. If the A.I. doesn'

We played a 3 humans vs. 3 comps newbie-game for 3½ hours, Sunday evening, on ICO : no lag, no crash, absolutely no problem. The host saved the game. We continued the game on Monday evening for 3¾ hours : no lag, no crash, absolutely no problem. The host saved the game. We finished the game on Tuesday, early evening, in about 1 hour : no lag, no crash, absolutely no problem. The 3 players owned 3 very different types of computers. You have a certain type of c

Thanks to you, Pogue : your hosting connection was stable and lag-free, and you were patient enough to let us finish the game in 2½ consecutive evenings ! It was my very first MP game of Sins, and it made me realize that I'll never be able to participate in an all-human FFA (or team vs. team). In all the RTS games I play (such as C&C 3 and SupCom), I'm addicted to playing skirmishes with comp-allies vs. other comps. If Bhruic hadn't been there to provide leadership a

We are finishing our current game this early evening (Tuesday, EST). You might check this thread later this week, in case we announce the start of a new game -- for newbies. PogueMahone1973 is the host : he's a real n00b :p and his net-connection is excellent. Bhruic is a pseudo-newbie (he really is a good player, and a generous ally). CyberMage (me!) is a total n00b :SNIFF!: and a too defensive, paranoid turtle (never ask him to join a FFA or a hot tea

In-game, the description of a TEC fighter does mention that it can attack certain types of ships (such as a siege frigate), but I do not know to what effective extent that is really the case in the heat of battle.

Ron Lugge is right : posting the DX Diagnostic info (even if it is a lengthy text) is the best way to know a lot about your computer's hardware and software specs. PS. Your 3.0 GHz Pentium D processor is enough. Your RAM is enough. I do not know about that model of video card. The DX Diag text would tell us the DATE of your video drivers : that, also, is important.
Hehe..our master play to seperate all men from their women may actually be working!
It sure worked in my case, Sunday evening (yesterday). My wife wanted to go to bed early, around 09:00 pm (EST). I joined my very first ICO game around 08:40, and we stopped at 00:20. I'm "in the dog house" today, but I might be joining back the (saved) game some other evening, this week. By the way, since I'm behind a router, I had apprehensions, but we could

Great news concerning your sales ! In the long run, sales have to be good, to justify paying salaries for further enhancements and expansions. Of course... I played my very first ICO game last evening, and one guy mysteriously left after 15 minutes. On the other hand, some games on ICO start with A.I. place-holders, while some people can't find a game to join. Consequently (to stress points already made by others) : 1. A patch should allow to replace a human pla

OK, I see : that's why you were not there around 8:35 pm. (I left the forum at 8:24). I replied to your PM, this morning, before work. (I have a class to teach at 8:10 am.) See you later for a game, absolutely ! @ POGUE : I'm available to continue our game anytime, this week, after 2 pm EST (I only teach in the mornings, except Friday afternoons)-- if and when we can coordinate with our excellent partner (bhruic).

My preference, for a first presence on ICO, would be a Human team vs Comp team (normal A.I.), but some might find that "chicken". An all-human FFA would stress me out, also. I have not played enough yet to have some fast, optimized routines well ingrained in my brain. Anyway, I'll go check what the host has in mind, in about 25 minutes -- since he has not posted here for almost 2 hours. If he doesn't show up, I would not wish to host : my router, even if I've configur

He has not answered here for the past 1½ hour : must be busy with supper. Three hours or so would be OK with me too : I have to be at work Monday morning, at 8 am. The host has the privilege of choosing Teams or FFA : he has not stated his preference yet. FFA would stress me a lot, but it would send me to bed earlier ! Me too : bullying "easy" comps is the extent of my SINS experience so far.

I might be interested. It would be my very first MP game at SINS. It would depend on your settings. Can you try and post your hypothetical set-up parameters here, before 8:15 PM (EST) ? Having "newbie" in the title of your game is a great idea. I have visited ICO yesterday and today, and I could not figure out how to join a game with people at my beginner's skill-level. (I would be more interested in a Human team vs A.I. team match to get started on ICO, but maybe that

I experience no blurring in the infocard texts, despite the fact that I do not use any AA in SINS (to not overburden my 2 year-old 6800). I have exactly the same model of ViewSonic monitor as the Original Poster.

He has exactly the same ViewSonic VA1912wb 17-inch-widescreen model as I have ! Our native resolution is 1440 x 900 @ 60 MHz, exactly as he said. I play the game in a slightly smaller window (1360 x 768). I will launch the game and set it at a 1440 x 900 fullscreen, as he did, and I shall report back here on what I see (for example : if I have some blurry text, like him). My videocard is a 6800, with the 169.21 (12/07) drivers. I have

I think it has been stated on another thread that there was currently a potential issue with nVidia drivers and Vista (especially the 64-bit edition). It was there recommended to disable SLI mode and use only one videocard. It seems that the ball is in nVidia's court : it (not Ironclad or Stardock) would have the responsibility to fix their Vista drivers to make them more gaming compatible -- especially with 64-bit Vista and SLI. You seem to perceive that the p

I am very much a human-vs-human n00b (but, gee, I rock against easy comps! :p). Yesterday (Saturday), on ICO, even though 309 people were listed in the main lobby, I could not find one single game to join with other n00bs. Only 3 or 4 games were available at a time, and most were password-protected. Today (Sunday morning in Eastern Canada/USA), on ICO, there were 99 people in the main lobby. Same situation. I asked on the chat for a game setup with other n00bs, to team-up agai

Thanks to both of you ! I have been lurking in the Beta since June, Multianna : I am aware of your skill level. I would not want to be bullied by you. I agree with Craig Fraser : the ICO lobby must be full of shy MP-n00bs such as I -- even though I doubt there are a lot of 57-year old PhDs in there.
