Phase Stabilizers can be a little frustrating. There's about a five minute delay from when it's finished building to when it will actually work. When they do work, however, you should be able to jump directly from one planet to any other planet within the star system provided you have either: a. own a phase stabilizer there b. Have a level 6 Marauder capital ship at a planet that acts as a phase gate c. Have a starbase acting as a phase gate d. recently

I should revise my sentiment. There ARE strategies that can be exploited with Vasari. The fact is I just don't enjoy them as much as others. If you've read even just a few of my posts, you know that my logic is amost always numbers driven. The biggest problem I have is just that Vasari scouts can't be used effectively enough to counter Illums. If that worked, I'd shut up. I also still think the neutral balance is out of whack. I like the concept that one race has easie

Hmm..... Numero Uno: Fix the 1 Phase Lane Starts This was supposed to be fixed a long time ago. Numero Dos: Can we rebalance the neutrals? Plz? Numero Tres: Can we stop the maps where sometimes it's full of planets and sometime's it's full of nothing but neutrals?

I will say this about ADA. The ability has a newfound use because when you get this cap early (as your first or second cap), the impact it brings by bringing 4 squads of fighters out of the gate is quite good. These squads never stop regenerating. I've found the halcyon to have a newfound usefulness when going up against a human just because those non-stop regenerating fighters help out so much with an Illum spammer. ADA is more useful, and I'm actually half tempted to say ani

I dunno about the win to games played ratio. My main profile only has probably 50 games from within the past 6 months, but has 400 games on it. I took my 6 month hiatus before the "if the host leaves the game crashes" flaw was fixed. Also, sometimes the record is still misleading if it's got a good win/games played ratio. There's a decent number of folks with around 150 games or so on the profile but almost all games are wins because the profile is a smurf of the real person, or at le
So again. To sum it all up. Vasari are great if there are neutrals, suck if there aren't. I'd like a rebalancing of the neutrals and the Vasari reliance on them, but that's just me. I'm not god, never claimed to be, and accept that a lot of the ideas that run through my head probably won't make it into this game.
I don't play Vasari for all of the reasons I've mentioned. I'll just stress that this is my opinion. It's what experience has taught me. I'm well aware o

What makes you think I don't know what the hard counter is? I am the AMISHMAN. I use my little scout minions to tell me everything and to do my bidding. I know all. See all. The raging inferno that is my ignited interstellar buggay is flying through the cosmos and knows all counters. Fear me!!!!

One last thing while it's on my mind. I don't think the balance is off to far. It's not like Vasari completely sucks compared to TEC/Advent. I'd just put Advent/TEC one slight notch above Vasari.

I never said people can't be good with Vasari. Assailants have always been my favorite frigate just because of how good they are at assassinating caps. I think I have a good way to express my feelings towards vasari. Try playing Maelstrom, a fairly popular preset map. There are no neutrals on that map. Try playing against people of comparable skill and I think you'll see that Vasari gets hindered by not having neutrals? Do I think Vasari can't win without neutrals? Not necessa

Ah. ok. First, you gotta take the scouts and turn auto-attack on. There's a button down in the bottom right where you can do that. The reason I use some scouts is because while weak, they are very good against two targets. Long Range Frigates and Seige Frigates. Both of which you find among the pirates. That's one reason, but there's another. When you play online, the odds are you will butt heads with someone in the first 30 minutes, and you can't be sure when that rush will c

I've got a couple for ya Scout Rushing at its best The only way I can describe this is I was pretty much map screwed. I had only 1 phase lane to an ice, and then a second ice, and then my enemies homeworld. I had to rush. He went Illums (or at least was gearing to get Illums), so I went light frigs/scouts and flushed him out. <a href="http://www.filefront.com/14725855/AutoRecord-10100110.record

Lol. I've tried to defend those abilities in the past. I have old posts where I felt that way. Here's the best way for me to express my feelings for the Marauder. I pick the colonizing cap regardless of race (I would pick the akkan even before 1.04 came out to change it up sometimes). This means that if I'm bringing out a second cap I need something that will bring a decent role with it. It's hard to quantify impact on the battlefield, but I truely have a hard time justifing p

He's online. My opinion of Vasari is this. On maps that are loaded with neutrals (such as 4v4's, 5v5's), the Vasari rocks. They get so many neutrals that they win by shear amounts of income which translate into more ships. On maps that don't have neutrals, you start to see the weaknesses of Vasari emerge. The fact that their units are overall somewhat weaker than all of their counterparts becomes apparent. Not to mention the worst of the capital ships. The best

My best guess is that if a ship is covered by 2 guardians, 1/2 of 1/3 of the damage will be dispersed to each guardian. If there are 3, then 1/3 of 1/3 will be dispersed to each guardian, and so on and so forth. It could also be that one guardian reigns supreme until its bubble wears off, or it could be what you mentioned earlier PB. My guess is it's the first one I mentioned. In the end, all three possibilities still prolong thel ife of Advent frigates.

Ah, a man after my own heart. Setting up an economy simultaneiously while setting up a fleet is pretty hard. Here are the best things you can do to get an econ early. 1. These first two points are linked. Get planets as quickly as you can. Some maps won't lend themselves to this, but the faster you can get planets the better (and I mean 5+, not 3-4). 2. Get a fleet as quickly as possible to help with point #1. I like to use a fleet of light frigates and scouts. T

This is a VERY old post, but a lot of the points in there aren't completely wrong. If someone could make a copy of it and edit it to fit the current balance of the game, we'd be set. https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/308726

To be fair I think the build rate of starbases needs to be lowered slightly (ball park 25%) and then increase the amount the build faster upgrade gives you. They build just a little too fast for my taste currently. But that doesn't change the fact that starbase rushers are counterable. I always have a fleet early. Always. Cause I live in fear of a starbase rusher and WILL NOT be caught with my pants down.

Ah I remember those days Astax. They were fun. People never got that if you just built your labs first thing the scout rush was meaningless. Good to hear you say that Blair. I've been wondering what the dev feeling on the use of scouts was. I wasn't sure if you knew my posts existed. BTW, if you're reading this, kudos on the recent patch. @Sword I played primarily AOE II: The Conquerors. The starting scout was pretty weak, but the light cavalry upgrade was very c

You know what Grey, I think I get where you come from. The only real answer I have is that people are going to fall into two different spectrums of thought. You're either going to be frustrated that the scouting unit can fight, or you'll never give it a second thought. The game I played that broke me into RTS games was Age of Empires II. I don't think it's a coincidence that in AOEII the light cavalry (scout) was the counter to the long ranged unit (archer). I should also poin

For the longest time I thought Advent scouts only did 2 dps, which if you think about it would balance the seeker, but it does 3. Same as TEC. One less than Vasari. When I said 10% health, I meant the actual health i.e. hull. So that'd be a 12.5% nerf in total toughness. I wasn't very clear when I wrote that, so my bad. I agree 100% that they're tough little bastards, but even with that I still stand by my statements 100% that scouts are counterable. Oh, and to the "what if he
