Lol. It's on my to do list. It's test time at college.
fighting off 2-4 people while his allies grow.
Yeeeeah, 9/10 this isn't true for myself. It's one of the reasons I hate capping. There are so many smurfs out there ( yes, I'm not helping the problem by doing it myself, but when in rome... ) that I seem to have the worst of luck and always pick actual newer players rather than smurfs. If it was me getting an unfair fight, and my allies kicking ass, sure, I'd be glad to take it for the team, but...THAT....DOESN'T.
The FCC, an appointed, un-elected, group of people chose all by itself that radio and television are the two parts of media not protected by the first amendment's freedom of speech. I'd like to repeat that because it sounds.....vaguely important. -George Carlin- R.I.P.
There is a flip side to smurfing. I use smurfs so I don't get a gigantic target on my back. Do I use them often? No. I use one of my two mains (regular and clan tag) until I start getting frustrated. What constitutes getting frustrated? Every opponent I fight is fed like a mo fo because his allies want to neutralize me first. I am not trying to be cocky. I am only citing what happens. That gets real old real quick. That's when I get out the smurf, but I don't use it long. TBH I'm not
if I have to read another post about how some MP 'genius' is going to set up teaching games so all the SP can get up to par, I'm going to puke.
I'm one of the main proponents of that, and honestly, I understand. I don't force this on players, but I will defend this because the fact is in online play the pace is quicker and just one game can save a player a lot of pain. That's the main reason I do it. If a player's frustrated I save him the pain I went through when I was
I'm gonna take your word for it. I guess a long history of a bugged Devastator makes me hesitant to use it. Time to sample it yet again. BTW, anyone else notice i have 69 karma?
There's an article somewhere mentioning multiplayer vs. singleplayer and the dev (blair fraiser I think) said that 75,000 people of the 500,000 who have bought the game have made accounts on ICO, so that tells me while the game didn't necessarily have the biggest allure to online play, the poor multiplayer support on the servor got rid of a lot of potenital players.
TBH, here's why I think Vasari are weak. The Scout doesn't fight off Illums well. I mean, you can, but you need more than the 2 to 1 Scout to Illum ratio, which doesn't favor Vasari. The skirmisher does 10.5 damage but takes up 7 ship slots, and while it does get reintegration, I don't understand why the ship does 10.5 dps. Cobalts do 9.5 and take up 5 ship slots. Helloooo, this doesn't add up. The Assailant wasn't nerfed, but what it counters was buffed. One of the bi
Or it could make advantaged or disadvantaged map positions that much more so. We'll see in the beta.
Well that's another issue in and of itself that the devs still need to address. The solution is just play pre-made maps or mess with the random map designer (as cumbersome as it is to use, it works). What I really want to see is the end of 1 phase lane starts. If the devs would just fix that, this game would be a whole lot better off.
team games make it hard to tell relative skill because there are so many feeds and 2v1 situations going on.
Diplomacy sounds like it might fix that. It sounds like people will have to buy a tech before they can feed which SHOULD make this game more dependent on the individual.
Well if you reeeeeally wanna be irked, look at the phase jump inhibitor. It's in the harmony tree for Advent, in the defense tree for vasari, and in the military tree for TEC. Go figure.
The Argonev starbase blows up because Chuck Norris farted
My main concern is if this bug is fixed that the Illum will take a knock out blow of a nerf. I know there's probably no sense in voicing this considering you the devs have showed logic in balancing the game, but still wanted to say it anyway. I can see it coming though. The bug is fixed but Illums get a buff. That'll be ineteresting to explain.
60 scouts and 20 lfs? Go pure light frigs! In the VERY VERY early game where carriers or flakk just aren't a good option yet, light frigs are the best option against scouts. BTW for the record I'm primarily Advent. ;)
The only problem with this is this would neer work. You can spot the enemy's scout to figure out what he is. To get what you're aiming for everyone would have to be blanketed so you don't know which person is which race. That could get a little too hairy.
I would defenatly recomend coming back on. DT needs a real advent player not the illum spammer crap (berz)
Good. I'm not the only person who noticed that. I'd say the game is much closer to being balanced. I'm going to say it's balanced mainly because I haven't seen a strategy that isn't counterable. Poeple are using scouts A LOT more now. It's kinda ridiculous.
The time to get these upgrades is when you're sitting at an upkeep threshold
That's my feeling towards upgrades in one sentance.
I think its hilarious you assume that because the person is new to online they cant stand on their own.
This is the statement that I desagree with so much. I don't go out looking for newer players because it's no fun. There's no real challenge. Not to discredit the new player, but experience teaches you how to balance military/economy/fleet/planet aborbtion. Newer players cannot have as good an understanding so they're not fun to play. Plus. What good does it d

Arrogance is always the beginning of the end.
Dude. What games have you been playing where experience did NOT help? It also doesn't help that you've called out the guy who has the most wins in Sins. <img src="http://www.movie-moron.com/wp-content/gallery/star-wars/SW-You-Fail.
Spamming is the idea of exploiting 1 particular unit to hit the opponent early and fast. You rely just on the OP of the unit rather than skill. Yes. I agree spamming is annoying. What you have completely ignored is that (and JJ clearly said this) an understanding of what counters what will decide the game. If he spams one unit, then your fleet should consist purely of the counter to said unit. Is it spamming when you're making 1 unit to counter an opponent who makes something
This probably isn't an issue for most of you, so stop readin right there if you don't want to be bored. I was feeling nostalgic and went back to vanilla sins. I forgot how you could set the rally point of your frig/cap factories BEFORE they finished building. You can't do that in entrenchment, and frankly, it's just a bit awkward to have to wait to set the rally point. I just want to place, set rally, que up frigs, move on with life. Just a small thing.
Yeah, they'd have made enough money to pay off the development of Diplomacy already if they just hit Siddy with a 10$ charge for each of his smurfs.
The devs always talked about how they were trying to find the right balance of micro and macro in this game. I think this was a judgement call on their parts to have the strikecraft in space permanently and have to be manually docked if desired.
