On my first move I send my entire fleet of one fighter and my free capital ship into the pirate homeworld. I then type to the computer AI 'I'm here for the Black Pearl and Jack Sparrow'. While my two ship fleet is getting blown up I then go back to my homeworld and scuttle all my structures. I'm so scared of pirate raids later in the game I figure this way I lose early and on my terms.

So I was playing a large random map, got my explore on and had my choke points mapped out, when a relatively undefended planet behind my defensive grid was attacked by a hostile force. While I successfully defended it thanks to a nearby fleet that happened to be a few stars over, after running them out of that gravity well, they retreated to a large red sun then jumped from there along a phase lane I couldn't see to somewhere. My question is if certain stars act as wormholes in addi
Really they aren't hard to take - here are some tips- Build your capital ship builder asap after you build your mining nodes. Your first capital ship is free - build a colonizer Build 3 fighters from your frigate factory Send your capital ship to the close by planet first - that will make those small ships attack it, and not your weak fighters. Then send in your fighters to support your capital ship. That allows you to take out those small fo
Try the beta driver from NVIDIA - Just released yesterday. People are reporting that resolves the minidump problem for people that are getting it. I haven't gotten the minidump problem but upgraded my drivers anyway and it played the same without issues so I would consider it stable.
The last game I played with 2 AI I allied with one against the other. The other AI was getting trashed so I decided to join forces with him and see what happened. As I started to attack the stronger AI the weaker AI backed me up (without me pinging anything) And together we where able to defeat the much stronger fleets. An interesting moment was when 3 of my capital ships where able to be wasted by his main fleet and his entire fleet showed up to help me (And the message "Don't worry, we'
I'm glad fights take a while, if they didn't and this was another click intensive RTS it wouldn't be owned by me, and I wouldn't be here. Also if you are having problems killing something you are using the wrong ships against it. I learned this when I accidentally built a bunch of planet attack ships and sent them out to fight... That didn't end well at all. :o
The ability to turn our cursor into God's hand and smack planets and stars around when you are sure to win the game. Kind of like a finishing move. SSE - FATALITY
Pirates are really easy to figure out- I turned them off till I read about them - basically when you hear 'pirates are forming a raid' click on your black market button, then the pirate tab. On the left it will show the pirate target, usually you, now here is where they can be a good thing - click the bounty increase button beside an enemy of your choice. As long as you bid more than anyone else you will make them the pirates target. You can see if you are ahead in
Only thing I don't like about Tec is the voices lol. Guy sounds like he is going through puberty when he's talking sometimes. :oLol,most of them is ok for me,except the Repair Ship.I really like Koi's voice.
Not familiar with Koi's voice yet, is that Tec?
I don't think that would work as you would have issues with managing your craft when zoomed somewhere else. Imagine if you just tossed a fleet to a system, and while doing something else your capital ship was sucked into the planet and exploded. Not fun, not fun at all. :o
Haha,great to see a positive thread.Just pre-ordered mine.Sins of Solar Empire,im coming!!!Cant wait to try Advent and Vasari,even though i love TEC.
Only thing I don't like about Tec is the voices lol. Guy sounds like he is going through puberty when he's talking sometimes. :o
Nice find! Maybe this will shut those haters up that were blaming Ironclad for this issue.
Logging in now, can't wait to start up a new campaign with the strategies I have developed while daydreaming throughout the day. -That's the sign of a great game.
I can believe it, this game is full of win.
- LAN supported multiplay. (extra high marks for this)Not that I disagree with the post but on this point, who, especially in the RTS category, has 'not' supported LAN play?I think it's not so much the support play, but the fact its supported play with 1 copy of the game needed, rather than all of you buying your own copy and cd-key, and for this i thank IC, great feature that helped me talk my friend into getting a copy anyway (to finish our game over the net)
Inter
Is he running the latest (and known to be bugged) NVidia drivers?
I'm running the ones from 12-07 and they seem to be working great. Not at home so I can't say the exact version number though...
Have him disable his onboard sound and see if that helps. (disable it in the bios) I'd check out updates for your bios and it goes without saying run the latest graphics card drivers. Onboard sound always seems to cause issues... If that fixes it for him, get a decent sound card and then he should be good to go.
Kinda excited, it arrives tommorow.
It's awesome you'll love it. Start slow - do the tutorials even though nobody likes doing them :o Then start with a small system. Couple points of advice - turn on the tactical grid and other selections under User Interface. Tried to play in 100% cinematic mode at first and it was.... difficult to say the least! Good luck and hit us up if you need any pointers!!!
I do not have a free HDD, however, a friend of mine who built a computer, with a new HDD is using XP with the drivers and game installed and is experiencing the minidumps as well.
What kind of graphics card is he using? Is his BIOS for his MB up to date? Does he have an onboard sound card? There are a myriad of things that could be impacting you both, all I can speak from is my experience being completely trouble three on three different rigs.<
Actually I've found the game to be extremely stable, and as I said the post release support has been exemplary. It's also very pretty, and quite a lot of fun to watch. Unfortunately there are some specific elements (AI, diplo) that make it, IMO, not much fun to play. I'd like to think those will be corrected in time, though I'd love to be reassured on that point by the devs. I keep reading proposed patch notes and diplo doesn't seem to be getting addressed at all.
Don't y
Ok - pepsi challenge - find an old hard drive - install XP on it from scratch - install latest drivers - then install the game. If it works - I'm right. If it doesn't work - you're right. Write back with your results. This is the only way to rule out your system in it's current condition as being the culprit. --braces for 'no wai I'm not reloading my computer'--

I plan on bumping this to keep the haters in check and defending this product as I have time for in the other threads. Personally, after a certain point, you should just ban the more trollish ones that insist on bashing the game right and left. Peace - and keep a thick skin, this game is great fun and masterfully done. The interface is just awesome.
Welcome aboard NapalmEnema! Thanks for your support.
Glad to be here, and spreading the word as best I can. You guys really caught me by surprise with this game. I hate RTS and now all I'm doing is not working and calling my buddy discussing strategy.
You're pre-disposed to not accepting advice, that's apparent, so why waste my time?
