NapalmEnema This question came up before and in response the large fleet option was added, it's not a perfect solution but it has made things a fair bit better, imagine being in the position you are right now but with half the fleet it was next to impossible. Unfortunately due to the fact that maps can be up scaled to absolutely massive sizes it has just postponed the issue.Don't bother with the fleet size scales with number of planets owned or population this has been tried and argued to
I don't understand the OP's problem. I've won several large 5-star maps, with fleet number set at normal, not even high. I wouldn't want to have to manage larger fleets. The key, I think, is to realize that ships are for offense, not defense. I like to build several levels of static defenses, typically 8 hangars, 1 repair, and a gun or two. I put that on all planets that are one-jump from a star, and all planets that are one-jump from those planets. I also make sure there is a frigate fact
Thanks for the modding tips, I'll definitely set this up for a monster game as I would envision it.
But this is a true RTS game not just command and blow up but also politics, insurgency, treaties, pay for strikes. Just a lot of different RTS tactics to deploy. Oh did I say this is a true RTS game? Its great to use other means to do what you need. The reason that this game is so loved I hope is because there is a number of different ways to deploy tactics not just simplistic battles.
That's really not the point of my post. I'm not wanting to zerg and just send out unli
While I'm glad there is a 'modding' fix, I'd much rather see this as an option for anyone that wants to try it. It sounds like it would be beyond simple to simply add into a patch so anyone that wants to increase that, could.
Even if that isn't the case, show me a video of someone winning a Huge Random scenario with 5 star systems with the fleet capacity limited to where it is right now.Sure, it won't be a complete replay since there's lots of saving/loading going, but I have just that game going right now against 9 Unfair AI on FFA - I just have one AI left in my starting system, and I have cease fires or better with half the others so I don't even get attacked because they're busy fighting among themselves.D
I think the fleet sizes really need to be either removed entirely at max level or bumped up significantly to accomodate the kind of massive challenge a huge random or a large random entails. You do realize that increasing the fleet cap will increase it for all players, right? If you're having trouble defending with 2000 against 2000, what makes you think 6000 vs 6000 is going to be any easier? In fact, the *smaller* the cap is the easier it is, because your stationary defenses become more
I still think that (and hope) most people would at least like the option of 10k max fleet size. It's nothing that anyone would lose out on. Those that can handle it are able to play a mode that allows for a truly epic empire size with which to take over the universe. Easy way to make it more 'epic'. :)
Then have it as an option for those with a computer that can run it. Even if that isn't the case, show me a video of someone winning a Huge Random scenario with 5 star systems with the fleet capacity limited to where it is right now. With no way to station fleet in reserve and have at least 3-5 good sized fleets on your different fronts, gameplay past where I am at will just be more pain than fun due to the limiting factors of having to jump 1-3 fleets around such a large dista
Love the game - let me get that out of the way so I don't come across wrong. I have finally gotten good enough at this game where I could tackle a nice large random with multiple stars, 3, and a pile of planets. I set the enemy AI to hard and left the teams unlocked. I played perfectly, have about half of two star systems and I'm really at the limit of what I am able to take, and successfully defend due to the scope of planets I need to 'look after' on my large battlefront. So I need a
: shakes head : man the things you people find to bitch about with such a well done game just boggles the mind. Space battles look great zoomed in, unless you nitpick. That's a fact, but some of you just can't be happy unless you find some fault to complain about. Be happy this game looks great, plays great, is fundamentally bug free and feature complete at release. Along with that it has constant updates and attention from the developers that actually talk to you IN
Playing 1v1? lol seriously. lol
Sounds great that changes to RA are coming, though I wouldn't mind being assured that it isn't "just" a fix to the exploit. I love how 'omg we quit playing this game because of one skill'. Here's a nutty idea, don't use that skill or play a different race until it is suitably balanced? : gasp :I would think their issue is based on others using RA, not themselves.
But he was citing he and his close friends all quitting because of it. Methinks it would be pretty easy to sa
Consider a hybrid game, RTS and MMO.EVE OnlineThis is truly the best, most immersive and complex game I have played.Free 14 day trial of the FULL game!
That game has 'too many' features. At least with Sins you can pick it up and not need to dedicate your life to figuring it out and excelling at it.
So instead of instantly reaching 2312/2300 fleet cap, you can only reach 2300/2300!Well, bugs first I guess.
I love how 'omg we quit playing this game because of one skill'. Here's a nutty idea, don't use that skill or play a different race until it is suitably balanced? : gasp : Crazy idea I know. I play the Vasari pretty much exclusively, and I never research or use Returning Armada. Guess what? This game is still fun? Just because a super
Twilight Princess would be my fav game ever.
Own it, never finished it. Got to be a wolf then meh... got bored. Should I go back and play it?
I'd rather build a large cannon and shoot myself into the sun than play that game.
You are missing a lot of the depth of this game, due to not being familiar with the interface. Battles can be much more tactical by selecting specific targets, assigning a firing order etc.. You can certainly flank and pincer enemies especially from system to system. I think, personally, that you kind of have a 'birds eye view' of it, but in order to really see the depth you need to play more, on a larger map, with more opponents. Also you should play against other humans. T
Well alot of the games i've played in the past tend to be quite restrictive on LAN play.I mean gangland, my god i loved that game for multiplayer, but trying to play multiplayer was a kick in the nuts.I mean i've played games in the passed and tried to do lan matches and it just not work due to cd-keys ect. But with sins it's fine, which is great because i tend to play lan matches instead of internet.
LAN matches for the win.
don't you people have any tact when it comes to making criticism. you think this is an internet forum, hence you can be extremely rude at people's creative work.
Can you read? Serious question.
Zellio - I got the funny but it was a pretty weak funny unless you know Spaceballs. Even though I knew spaceballs it was still pretty weak. Now you're just making it annoying.
You have to research the tech for it, it'll be somewhere in your tree depending on Race.
I self limit myself and never use Returning Armada.
You really want to wait for a while to increase that capital ship number or overall fleet supply as you are taxed more per second for having a larger fleet to sustain. What I would suggest is first maxing out your fleet of 100 then increasing your capital ship level as you increase that. This way you are growing at a rate in line with your expansion. You really only need one capital ship (I recommend the colonizer to start with) to start off with and get some planets under you
