Come on people it a strategy game let the NEWBIE figure it out. That half the fun. Actually that is all the fun.
Not that much of a newbie, the strategies are different when you start tackling a ton of hard AI's. I enjoy a challenge so I always play with teams unlocked and active pirates. Pre 1.04 however, my strategies even on hard were working well... No worries, I'll give it another shot and see how I fare. I LOVE a good challenge.
NapalmEnema
Thanks for the tips I'll try it again tonight and see how I fare.
I'm not sure, I have only been playing Vasari and just started trying out Advent. It should be fairly obvious though from the description. Is your copy of Sins in French?
That's great late game, but I got trounced and called it quits with 4 planets (3 planets and one asteroid) under my control. Right off the bat I was allied against and swamped with attacks even though I had good defenses and was progressing as fast as I could sustain it with my economy. :(
Research the skill needed to travel from star to star and through wormholes. Every race has that ability - just need to find it. (it's in the Empire tree)
So I was looking forward to 1.04, however when I started a new large map (Twin Empires) with all hard opponents I was just stomped on from the start. Here is how I played it, could I have done something different/better? - Playing as Vasari - 1. Started building Capital Ship refinery first, then setup my mines. 2. Made two scout ships while refinery was being built. 3. Built Intelligence structure (whatever that is called) so I could get access to
Freelancer was a great game - anyone play that one?
You just need to research the worm tech depending on the race you are using. I'm pretty sure every race has that ability, you just gotta find it. With Vasari it's in the Empire tab not sure what it's called.
You know, pirate, you could just find one of the many deals that drops it under it's already reasonable price. Oh wait, it's easier to keep on using it for free like an ass. Games like this don't come around often and should be paid for when they do. It's 40 bucks, that's a steal for this title and games of this caliber. I paid for COD4 - I paid for this There are many other games I 'tried' and deleted, but this certainly isn't one of them.
Why would you need to make something aerodynamic in Space? To look cool? Tec is all about function. They take a building, lay it on it's side, and put booster rockets on it. BAM Spaceship. Now on to the killing.
I think Ironclad is trying a different approach, rather than irritate the kiddies with copy protection they are providing a great game that just by existing without all the meaningless copy protections etc.. will hopefully elicit purchases by people that keep playing it and find a value in it. I think it's the smart way to do things in this day and age due to piracy being completely unpreventable, and wasting resources on setting up a copy protection is just that - wasted resources. Th
Hi all,I am very new to this type of game and this game also.I have a similar problem. Star travel, and worm holes. The answers are given, and pretty clear. :)
BAH !!!..I have the ulitmate plan.../resumes building a giant wooden badger
Erects large wall for snotty Frenchman to walk upon, hurling insults at you and your badger. +2 Flinging farm animals tech tree- currently researching 78% complete
Actually, by throwing your ships into the loving embrace of the pirates, you're decreasing the bounty on your head.Ever heard of humor?
I think he is researching alternative tech trees. :/
:o
I think Hamas publishing is going to be releasing it. It's going to be the bomb for sure!
I have started a 5 star Unfair game against 8 opponents with Active Pirates. I'm working on a bulletproof strategy to defeat the pirates once and for all and believe I can coerce the Pirate AI to actually begin working for me in a long run. Basically I do the following: - First I build a few navigators - to find out where the Pirate home planet is in my current system (this is KEY, find it SOON) - Second I build my Capital Ship factory and pump out my free Colon
Toss down some regeneration bays or whatever they are called for your race. I generally put down three regen platforms with their circle of influence overlapping, then about 9 defense platforms strategically placed to both be in the regen platforms sphere of influence and also where they protect the best from whatever phase lane(s) enter the gravity well. That usually handles whatever they want to throw at me, I will sometimes just park a low level capital ship with that setup
Zoom to mouse - built in feature > you :)
As an alternative, would it make sense to dynamically scale the fleet size based on map size? Thus a smaller maps have lower fleet size vs large maps with high fleet size...?
That's certainly a viable solution, I think on a random huge or large with multiple star systems 4-6k ships would be workable, more wouldn't hurt.
Dvi cable + LCD monitor + your video card = no more problems. Analog cables on an LCD monitor definitely make things 'fuzzy' especially sharp rendering with AA etc.. Good find on the font mod, but really you shouldn't need it with the appropriate setup.
Stop the presses, you don't like a user created map and find it contrary to your tastes? My world is richer for you being in it and sharing your wisdom.
I don't see any blur on that photo...
ditto.
What kind of LCD do you have, what kind of graphics card to you have? Having that info could help tell what is the problem. I have a 22" widescreen NEC and a good graphics card everything is ultra sharp for me.
