I'd have nothing against this just on the basis of making things a little more lively but as far as in-system patrol routes, it wouldn't increase your chances of intercepting an incoming fleet much, if at all.Your ships are either in the right place or they aren't. Moving around doesn't really change that.Interplanetary patrol routes, I'd kind of like to see but I could probably count on one hand the number of times that a patrol route in one of my games was actually stable long enough f
That doesn't mean I don't think it's epical now.
I do not think that word means what you think it means. :o http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/epical
I'm not really having a problem defending per say, I just think it would be a neat feature and also add some life to the environment to see your ships 'doing something' when idle, not just parked in space having a sammich with their wingmates. :)
How slow does your machine get at the various levels? Is it playable with 10k ships on a good system? I have a beast that I would love to play with it's higher levels of to see what it would take. Do you think you could make a download for people that want to experiment with your modified files setting you up for 5-10-15k ship limits? Great work, looks awesome.
One thing I would like to see in future patching would be the ability to designate patrol routes both within gravity wells and perhaps between planets? I find defending a star for instance which haas multiple exits and entrances that it would be beneficial to have my defensive fleet traveling in a circle around the star. Having it do that would increase the chances of running into an incomming fleet rather than guessing where to plot them in a given system. Just something I w
I bet money it's lack of DVI connection, and / or low quality LCD. No problem with me on 22" NEC LCD - DVI
That's kind of a bummer.
Ok ok ok I got to a planet and see asteroids with metal and crystal on them. How do I mine them? What's this button on the mouse for? There are two of them and a wheel thing in between? I don't have any ships, do they appear by magic or do unicorns build them?
I dunno I've seen elsewhere this latest one being billed as a standalone expansion. I'm going to bet the latest release is standalone after all.
I can understand problems with micromanagement but why in the world is 3d movement even a feature in the game? I don't see any advantage to it.
It looks cool, isn't that good enough? This is a wonderful strategy game but it walks the fine line between too much stuff and just the right amount. This would qualify as 'too much stuff' if you had to get to that level of manipulation in a fight to get the maximum tactical advantage.
Consoles are the single factor driving down creativity, imagination, encouraging dumbing-down and pushing graphics and action over anything else. All those titles such as Oblivion suffered in their port, and not just in graphics but also control and all other things dealing with the interface.Wait, aren't you cerebral PC elitists supposed to not care about graphics? I mean, its the idiot console gamers who are causing this focus on graphics, so why the hell do you care? Face it, PC gamer
Heck Halo would have been 10x better if it had been strictly developed for the PC - but Microsoft bought it, dumbed it down and made if for the Xbox and it is a SHADOW of what it could have been. I still remember seeing screenshots of it before it was bought out by Microsoft, truly was going to be a thing to behold on the PC. Then the Xbox took it and ruined it. Halo is complete suck. Worst game ever, yet the console kiddies eat it up like it's actually good. LOL <br
All of the games listed that are 'on the console too' are watered down weak versions of the original. The only shining example of 'console only' games I have seen mentioned is Ninja Gaiden, and even that one gets pretty boring pretty quick. Console = weak alternative to gaming any way you slice it. All those titles such as Oblivion suffered in their port, and not just in graphics but also control and all other things dealing with the interface. PC > Console C
However, I have NEVER seem any console community be nearly as unwelcoming to PC gamers as most PC game communities are to console gamers. That's because the "console community" is composed of frat-boys, morons, and is pretty much the 'catch-all' of any retard who's never played a video game before in their life. A condescending console community is pretty much the lowest you can get.Besides, what are the console gamers going to complain about? How 'smart' PC games are compared to console g
Your Halo avatar exposes you for what you are, a filthy console lover!! lol I'm not sure how I'm a hypocrite or an idiot, as I succinctly stated my point and backed it up with relevant experiences I have had first hand. But answer this - honestly - if money was no object would you: 1. Get a top of the line PC 2. Get a console Answer truthfully Sylenall :o
Fact - Windows is the dominant operating system, pick your flavor. Fact - Like it or not, Directx is built into, and supported by, said operating system. Fact - OpenGL was the shizzy back in the day, but business is business, and by hook or crook Microsoft has managed to leverage DirectX into being the dominant contender in the market for game development. Fact - Linux can't run DirectX - and never will be able to. Fact -<b
Case and point? lol Most PC gamers (even me) have a console game system like a Wii or Xbox etc.. They don't have a fundamental problem with consoles as they 'fill a role' in their gaming buffet. But the rabid console boys I see running around on boards are the ones that talk trash about PC's and how superior consoles are to *.*. That's what provoked my comments, and the paragraph you quoted as if it bolstered your claim. That's actually false, as I was making that s
No... Idiots like you who make console players feel unwelcome are the ones ruining PC gaming. I don't suppose that you ever considered console players might listen when you say stupid shit like "lol! go back to your xbox, Halo noob!"
I hope they listen, anyone that can't operate a computer and has to turn to a console for their sole entertainment because 'komputrz are hard' should not only be relegated to 'console only' status, but should be loaded into a cannon and sho
I've never played GCII but am interested in the latest expansion of it. Do I need the base GCII before I can install the expansion, or is it standalone? I'm guessing it's standalone because Stardock is too smart to do something like that wrong based on how they released Sins, but I wanted to ask before I purchased it.
I play on unfair vs 10 AI on huge multi star and limit myself to no research and no diplomacy. I then tie right hand behind my back and move the mouse around with my face to give myself a 'slight' challenge. After 30 minutes I then blindfold myself and have my friend randomly punch me in the face. That's how a real man plays Sins.
If Sins were released on PS3, wouldn't that make it the first good game released on that platform? I think that would be such a break with tradition of crappy game after crappy game that the console might actually self destruct from being used instead of sitting in the corner looking pretty. Don't lobby for this game to be ported to the PS3, you want to keep that baby in mint condition for the next 5 years so when the PS4 comes out you can say "Wait a second... I wasted a ton o
More cowbell. There, I said it. Add that and no more patching is needed. Thank you for your time.
It's not the developer's place to force people to use different operating systems.Anyone with any brains can keep their windows install running pretty smooth, I feel like you're somehow especially tainted against windows for some reason or another.
Yup. I'm running Vista Ultimate at work, 64 bit ultimate at home with a dual boot XP 64 bit. No issues whatsoever. Dunno, with millions in development, Microsoft does put out some good products.
