It would be nice to at least see some gameplay before committing. Hell, we haven't even seen a single in-game screenshot. Not a one... And Blizzard isn't necessarily smart, since they're alienating about 30% of the adult, non-senior, US population with their 'online only' approach to Diablo 3. I.e. 30% of folks don't have stable high speed Internet, with higher percentages in the South. Back to the point t

Vicious is where the Fortifier AI really takes off. You'll see fully upgraded starbases and maxed out minefields by the 20 minute mark, depending on the faction. Try assaulting Advent planets when each has 150 homing mines in orbit... Of course that is more a problem of the homing mines outranging Scout weapons. That and Scout AI still spazzes out half the time when clearing mines, unless you hold their hands at each step of the process.

Common sense states that Bin Laden is dead. D...E...A...D... dead. Do you really think the radical terrorist groups would not want to gloat about him being alive and well if he were in fact alive? The conspiracy theory that he's being held captive by the US in secret would have more credibility than simply his death being faked so he could live on safely in secrecy. The whole point of sending in a SEAL team to retrieve a body is to make sure that it was in fact him

Eh, I thought the latest word was that the US isn't going to release the photos. So anyone claiming to have them is likely a liar. From what I've heard, the photos show Bin Laden's brains poking out from where one of his eyes should be. So the politicians are concerned about making foreigners mad if the pictures were released. E.g. 'recruitment tools', etc.

What would really help is an option sub-menu that lets you toggle whether auto-join-fleet is 'on' or 'off' by default for each ship type. Just click carriers to 'off' and they'll never join a fleet unless you tell them to do so specifically. Carriers tend to fare the best when they just chill at the edge of a gravity well, or even beyond it, so that they can jump away at a moment's notice, and also forces the enemy to zip out across

IIRC, Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (or OOO for short) changes a lot of things in Oblivion to make it more like Morrowind. E.g. enemie types and their levels are based on the area and not the player level. That means you won't see every bandit or marauder suddenly parading about in glass or daedric gear simply because you reached level 'n' with your character. There are also mods that upgrade your quest rewards since the vanilla game screwed you over for doing q

Definitely upgrade to v1.2 as soon as you can. They are quite manageable now. They don't even deploy siege frigates or heavy cruisers for the first hour of gameplay. Also keep in mind that the pirates are rather dumb about the path they take. If you have an asteroid near their base, just fortify it to the brim and toss on a starbase. With v1.2 you'll bust them up every time. They also have a maximum upgrade level now. So no ships with 5,000hp, 50 ar

If the fanbase cries about the possibility of pirates getting an iconic cruiser launched at the highest threat levels, they'll certainly balk at pirates getting a starbase. Not to mention a starbase is supposed to be the cutting edge of military technology. Their space rock is their equivalent, a fully fortified asteroid surrounded by guns.

If you follow Galactic Civilization's explanation, population is actually representative of citizens and not actual planetary populations. That explains why a single colony frigate can get a colony up and running. As you invest in civilian infrastructure you're basically building the sorts of things you'd see on worlds in Gal Civs. If you read the message in Sins before you lose a planet is says something like 'Cultural rebels threaten to overthrow our govern

You're also forgetting some options, like Mass Hysteria. That is a fun option, just watch your speaker volume. Drain Planet is another fun option, *slurp*. But yeah, the TEC have the option of nukes, bigger nukes, even bigger nukes, and the biggest nuke. I.e. siege frigates, capital ships, Raze Planet, and the Novalith.

I saw advertisements for it, and will most likely watch it when it debuts next weekend. It has been so long since I read the books though that the show will seem mostly new to me. Maybe a slight tangent, but mentioning the show made me remember Rome. I kind of miss that show.

What about tweaking a carrier's following distance within a fleet? Instead of having them huddle around the capital ship perhaps they can form a separate line further back than the long range frigates? Perhaps that could provide a happy medium to keep them from kissing a starbase? Maybe set their follow range to match the range of an Ogrov Torpedo Cruiser? Since the flagship assaulting the starbase is not in the same position as the starbase, the c

Just a random thought, but what happens to the 'Weekend Impulse Buys' under Gamestop's management watch? Sure, I had bad timing in purchasing Demigod and WH40K:DoW when they then went on sale the next week... But, I did snag a few other titles when they were on sale that I probably wouldn't have tried otherwise.

If you want to do something silly with Advent in the singleplayer game, find a desert planet with 4 extractors: then do all that allegiance upgrade stuff, make it your homeworld, and build nine tradeports converted to resource focus. With 150% allegiance and resource focus set 9 times over you'll actually notice a big gain to resources. I'll note the silly part again in case anyone forgets about that part while reading those two sentences.
