My observation has been that it is a loss of communication with the ICO server and you. As such I have had it happen and been able to continue playing the game. However the win/loss doesn't get scored and when I exit out of the stats screen I have to re-login again...

Agreed - in 1.05 when I played TEC I almost always went Kol first, and often targetted it manually to maximise damage when first expanding. Once there is a fleet is support I didn't bother so much... Haven't done it since then as I now play Vassari a lot more and if I do go TEC I get the Marza first anyway...

Nothing. There is nothing you can do other then buy a copy of the game that is not already registered. The salesperson lied by the sounds of things. The serial number is NOT transferable under the licence aggreement, as per the manual. Without the serial being tied to YOUR Impulse account, you can't get any updates...

If this has occured, it is REALLY bad as the person he was mimicking is a clanner, which means getting him in a clan game will be hard as people won't know if it is him or not

Impulse IS the way to get it downloaded. I'm not sure you can get a refund if you cannot configure your PC to download. Many people (myself) included have downloaded it.
